The Secret to a Great Sex Scene

on August 30, 2017

by Rebecca Brooks I. love. writing. about. sex. I sometimes hear authors say they find sex scenes awkward to write. I get it. It’s hard to know what to get the characters to do. It can feel silly. And what if people I KNOW are going to read this?!? (True story: my dad reads everything… Read More

Rebecca Brooks

Rebecca Brooks lives in New York City in an apartment filled with books. She received a PhD in English but decided it was more fun to write books than write about them. She has backpacked alone through India and Brazil, traveled by cargo boat down the Amazon River, climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, explored ice caves in Peru, trekked to the source of the Ganges, and sunbathed in Burma, but she always likes coming home to a cold beer and her hot husband in the Bronx. She likes outdoorsy guys with both muscle and heart and independent women ready to try something new.

Flawed Characters in Fiction

on October 26, 2016

by Diane Alberts One of the things that writers struggle most with is making our characters realistic, likeable, kind, and yet…flawed. Yep, you heard me. Flawed. No one likes perfection, and let’s be honest, perfection isn’t realistic. Have you ever met someone who was PERFECT? And if you have, how much do you want to… Read More

What came first the lust or the love?

on June 9, 2016

By Julie Particka It’s a valid question. In romance novels, we talk all the time about insta-love as if it never happens in the real world. (It does, it’s just rare.) But no one ever mentions insta-lust. Why? Because we know that happens and it happens a lot. It’s probably even happened to you or… Read More

Julie Particka

Julie Particka was told to get serious about her future in Junior High. Several years after getting a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, she realized being serious was over-rated and went back to her first love–writing. Now rather than spending her days in the drudgery of the lab or teaching science to high school students, she disappears into worlds of her own creation where monsters sometimes roam, but true love still conquers all. She can most often be located in the Detroit area with her favorite minions (the ones who know her as Mom) where she is currently hatching a plot for world domination. It involves cookies for everyone, so she’s pretty sure there’s no way it can fail…except the minions keep eating the cookies.

Stealing the Spotlight

on November 18, 2015

by Jennifer Bonds As writers we create all kinds of characters. Some get the spotlight and others? Well, they don’t. Heck, sometimes they don’t even get a first name. In the movies we’d call them Extra #7 and Waitress #1. In the world of romance novels, there are no closing credits and these characters fade… Read More

What Makes a Fantasy Man

on October 21, 2015

by Nina Croft Definition of fantasy: the faculty or activity of imagining impossible or improbable things. The thing is fantasy is just that—we build something up in our minds that’s both impossible and improbable. At least, that’s exactly what Logan McCabe, hero of my latest release, HIS FANTASY GIRL, did. Logan spent one fabulous night… Read More

The Writing Process

on June 12, 2015

By Joya Ryan I’ve been asked a few times about my writing process. Truth is…it’s a mess. Yes, there are a few key things I do with every book to help map out what I’m writing. I do love me some color-coded charts and spreadsheets after all, not to mention a healthy To-Do list. But… Read More

Joya Ryan

National and international bestselling author Joya Ryan is the author of the Shattered series, which includes Break Me Slowly, Possess Me Slowly, and Capture Me Slowly. She has also written the Sweet Torment series, which includes Breathe You In and Only You. Her Brazen novels include the Chasing Love Series which feature Chasing Trouble, Chasing Temptation and Chasing Desire. Passionate about both cooking and dancing (despite not being too skilled at the latter), she loves spending time at home. Along with her husband and her two sons, she resides in California. Blurb:When the chase ends, the fun begins… It’s her best friend’s wedding, and Autumn Lane is trussed up in a pink bridesmaid dress with a big “everything is great” smile plastered across her face. She’s not going think about her life imploding, or spending the next two weeks housesitting in the ridiculously small town of Diamond. No, she’d rather think about the tattooed hottie in the wedding party…and how to turn the wicked way he’s looking at her into a night of intense pleasure. Huck Galvin is fiercely attracted to his mystery woman’s no-BS attitude, but their one-night-no-strings plan backfires when Huck discovers that Autumn is the out-of-towner he’s “chaperoning” for the next two weeks. Outside the bedroom, the two can’t stand each other, yet Huck can’t deny how much he wants one more night with her. But Autumn isn’t going to make it easy for Huck. Not by a long shot…

by Megan Erickson – So I draft every book differently. I wish I had a set system because I think it would make things easier on myself, but alas, that is not the case. With CHANGING HIS GAME, I wrote the first three chapters basically blind. As in, I had no idea how the story… Read More

Megan Erickson

My first stories written in crayon-scrawl on loose-leaf notebook paper were about my childhood pet — a deaf cat with dandruff. And after covering real-life dramas as a journalist, I decided I liked writing my own endings better and switched to fiction. My romance novels full of humor and heart are a far cry from those early scribblings about my hygiene-deficient pet.

I live in southern Pennsylvania, with my husband, two kids and two cats. I like a good pint of beer, a greasy bacon cheeseburger, homemade mac and cheese, and a great book with a happily ever after. When I’m not tapping away on my laptop, I’m probably listening to the characters in my head who just. Won’t. Shut. Up.
