Writer’s block is not a new topic, but it’s always a relevant one. There are many things that can help out when your creative juices stop flowing: meditating, taking a walk, reading a book – the list goes on and on. Sometimes the block sticks around, which can be pretty miserable, but eventually, it does go away. So how do you deal with spending days, weeks, or months feeling creatively blocked?
First, you can’t beat yourself up. It’s tempting, I know. Especially if maybe you don’t make your word count goal every day, you only write one book every two years, or maybe you simply don’t meet your own expectations. In those moments, disappointment and guilt can become overwhelming, and it can be hard to let go of the negative thoughts that start to collect in your head. I’ve found that getting back to your reading roots can help. What do I mean? Well, my favorite way of moving through and past writer’s block is to just read. Book after book, story after story, eventually, I find myself remembering why I wanted to be a writer in the first place. Books are fun. Getting all wrapped up in a different world for a few hours can be a beautiful thing. I always figure I’ll just keep reading until inspiration comes, and time and time, it always does.

I love reading… every book I open up brings me so much happiness… different people to meet, places to go, things to see through their eyes… a great book touches my emotions… as for a fun read lately… I just read a book by JJ Knight and will definitely be going back for more! 😀
I finished Wind Chime Cafe by Sophie Moss and laughed quite a bit. I really enjoyed it.
