For some of us, they are silly or stupid things, even if they are embarrassing.
For others, they are…huge. The kind of things that end careers or relationships and people would do a lot to keep those secrets hidden.
But secrets sort of have a life of their own, coming out to haunt you when you least expect it.
That’s sort of what happened in my upcoming release.
The title… shhhh… is F*CK CLUB: RILEY. The book series…well, F*CK CLUB.
The hero, Riley Steele, had a lot of things going for him…he was a great football player, possibly had a chance at going pro and was attending the University of Kentucky on a scholarship when his parents were abruptly killed in a car crash.
If it was just him, he would have been okay.
But he had a brother and sister back home, both still in school and there was a mountain of debt. He could either let them go to foster care…or step up and take over.
He was a Steele. He stepped up and took over taking care of them, and his college career, his possible football career…all gone.
After more than a year of bartending and working as a bouncer, he gets…propositioned by a woman who frequents the club where he worked.
It seemed like a no-brainer. More money than he makes in two weeks for one night in bed.
Easy.
It wasn’t like he expected it to turn into a career, but it did and it’s easy enough to cover. He still worked as a bartender a few nights a week, and the rest…well, he was making the needed money to care for his family.
The story opens right as that’s about to come crashing down, and in more ways than one. One of the guys who sort of joined in on his paid-to-pleasure gig said a little too much around a cop. There’s a problem with one of his former clients.
And…the girl he loved in high school is abruptly thrust back into his life.
Riley doesn’t particularly regret the choices he’s made, but now, with Brianna back in his life, he has to figure out if they’ve got a snowflake’s chance in hell…and if they do, how will she handle the secret life he’s been living for the past ten years?
