Morpheus, the Dream Master, directs an army of entities who influence mortals at various points in time by infiltrating their dreams. Sometimes it is as subtle as whispering an idea, but other times it becomes violent spiritual warfare. As the story begins, Morpheus discovers that an incubus is on the loose. There doesn't appear to be a motive for the evil spirit's vicious attacks, but the Dream Master isn't convinced. Ripples of distortion are disrupting the fabric of time. The incubus must be stopped. Morpheus dispatches his three best warriors. The first is Gareth. He is sent to comfort the incubus' most recent victim, but also to see if there is some rhyme or reason to the spirit's evil rampage. Meagan Addison is a studious, former child-genius who has felt resented all her life. When she suffers a series of horrifying "dreams", she has nowhere to turn for comfort. Then, a gorgeous man appears in her dreams, sheltering her with his powerful body. He assures her that she isn't losing her mind, but how can she trust her own delusion? Gareth knows the fate of the universe is at stake, but he is struggling with the objectivity that has allowed him to successfully complete his missions for a millennia.
