The Unknown Daughter
by Anna DeStefano

Carrinne Wilmington vowed she'd never return to the Georgia hometown she fled as a pregnant teen. But now she has no choice. Carrinne's life depends on finding her father, a man she never knew...and the key to the transplant she needs. So she decides to sneak back into town and get out with the clue to her father's identity—with no one the wiser.

Unfortunately, she comes face-to-face with the last person she wants to see—Sheriff Eric Rivers, the former bad- boy-gone-respectable and father of their teenage daughter. When Carrinne's life is threatened by someone determined to stop her search, Carrinne must learn to trust Eric. Not so easy when he's already disappointed her once.

Anna DeStefano's Bio

Born and raised in the South, Anna's been in love with storytelling since she was in fifth grade and wrote her first screenplay for an English project. Anna's thrilled to have fulfilled her lifelong dream of publishing by selling her 2003 Golden Heart winning manuscript to Superromance. Look for The Unknown Daughter to hit the shelves in October, 2004.

Characters are what intrigue Anna most about storytelling. Characters in journeys we wish we could take. Characters living ordinary lives, only there's something extraordinary about the way they valiantly fight for what's most important to them. To make a story truly memorable, the journeys of its characters must reflect back to us the very best, and sometimes worst, of who we are. And Anna's found some of her favorite characters in Sueperromances over the years. She truly feels like she's come home, now that she's a part of this wonderful group of storytellers.

When Anna's not writing, you'll find her running here and there with her scary-smart eight-year-old son. And when he's in school, look for her on the tennis court—one of the few things outside her family which can compete for Anna's precious writing time. She works in crisis care, through Stephen Ministries and Rainbows. And she's been totally in love with her handsome, talented husband for over thirteen years.
