But all these are nonfiction and Viders wanted to try her hand at fiction, particularly cozy mysteries.

After much thought she created her avatar Meg Jamison, an older widow with two grown sons, who wanted to be an artist and was back at the local college taking art classes when her professor was murdered.

The problem was that Meg was going deaf. Oh, she could lip read, but she really couldn’t hear well and it was getting worse. So she had her ear doctor work with a computer expert and they created a set of silver earrings that contained a state-of-the-art hearing aid.

Meg was thrilled. She could hear perfectly. Too perfectly. All of a sudden she could not only hear what people were saying, she could hear their thoughts.

Viders decided that since these mystery stories were so different from her nonfiction writings that she would use her maiden name. Dorothy Beth Humel or as the cover says, D.B. Humel.

Viders hopes you enjoy Meg’s adventures. And should you have any ideas for future stories for Meg, please visit her website and let her know your ideas.
