Cursor's Fury
by Jim Butcher

The power-hungry High Lord of Kalare has launched a rebellion against the aging First Lord, Gaius Sextus, who with the loyal forces of Alera must fight beside the unlikeliest of allies-the equally contentious High Lord of Aquitaine.

Meanwhile, young Tavi of Calderon joins a newly formed legion under an assumed name even as the ruthless Kalare unites with the Canim, bestial enemies of the realm whose vast numbers spell certain doom for Alera. When treachery from within destroys the army's command structure, Tavi finds himself leading an inexperienced, poorly equipped legion—the only force standing between the Canim horde and the war-torn realm.

Jim Butcher's Bio

Jim Butcher is a ten-year-plus student of martial arts and a skilled rider who has performed as a summer camp horse wrangler and in front of large audiences in both drill riding and stunt riding exhibitions. He also enjoys fencing, singing, songwriting, and live- action gaming. He works as a computer support technician, although he has held a variety of jobs in the past, from fast-food management to door-to-door vacuum selling. Jim lives in Missouri with his wife, son, and a houseful of computers.

In Jim's own words, his first attempt at a novel — when he was just 19 — 'was horrible. Really bad.' Fortunately for his many fans, he kept learning, and writing, until he could bring Harry's not-quite-Chicago to technicolor life.

All that practice obviously paid off — in addition to Harry Dresden's continuing adventures, Jim's first hardcover fantasy series, FURIES OF CALDERON "Codex Alera, Book 1", was published in October 2004.
