Getting Wound Up: Part Two
by Jennifer Bernard, Erin Nicholas

Part TWO of three

A fun, flirty crossover novel from bestselling authors
Jennifer Bernard (the Love Between the Bases series) and
Erin Nicholas (the Sapphire Falls series)

Caitlyn Murray has never let on that she’s had
fantasies about her brother’s friend Eli Anderson for
years. She’d do anything for the sexy, baseball star
who’s given it all up to stay in Sapphire Falls and
take care of his family, but she and Eli are friends. Just
friends.

So when her brother hatches a plan to get Eli to the pro
baseball try-out for the Kilby Catfish that he has dreamed
of and deserves, Caitlyn is all in. After all, what’s
a little kidnapping among friends?

A spot on the pitcher’s mound for the Catfish
isn’t the only tempting thing about the spontaneous
road trip. Eli already knows that Caitlyn is as sweet as the
candies she makes for the Sapphire Falls bakery, but alone
with her overnight in the tiny motel room in Kansas,
it’s impossible to resist the urge to take a little
taste.

But when that taste leads to falling for the girl next door
just as his front door is moving hundreds of miles away, can
Eli really have it all? Or do they have too many strikes
against them?

Jennifer Bernard's Bio

It took me a while to find my true love, both personally and professionally. I grew up in a crazy, chaotic family of six. My father was a professor, my mother a poet, and neither could understand my love for romance novels. I started reading early, inhaling Nora Roberts, Victoria Holt, Georgette Heyer, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, along with Shakespeare and Anais Nin thrown in for variety. I graduated from Harvard University with a degree in History and Literature. I wanted to major in Creative Writing, but those students were supercool and I confess I was a geek. Even so, I knew I had to write. After college I worked for Macmillan Publishing in New York, where I wrote copy for yearly encyclopedia updates. Yes, it was writing, but I wanted to try something different. The something different turned out to be living on a fishing island in Maine. To fill the long winter nights, I began writing screenplays with my college roommate. And so my quirky career began.

I moved to the city and began working as a news promo writer. You know those teasers... “Shootout at a local dry-cleaners, News at 11”... yep, that was me. Promo producing was fun, and I quickly moved on to bigger markets. For quite a few years I lived in Los Angeles, moving up the promo career ladder and writing screenplays and short stories on the side.

In December 2006, I hit a rough spot in my life. As always, during tough times, I turned to a familiar source of comfort and escape: romance novels. This time, something clicked. If reading romance brought me such joy, why not try writing a romance novel? My first attempt is still lurking on my hard drive somewhere, trying not to embarrass me. But still, I knew I’d found my true writing love. Shortly after, I left my big city, high-stress life and moved to Alaska, where I fell in love with my now-husband. Is it coincidence that as soon as I started writing romance I found it in real life too? Sometimes I wonder.

In Alaska I joined the local chapter of RWA and began learning the ins and outs of the romance business. In time I signed with the fabulous Alexandra Machinist, now with the legendary agency Janklow & Nesbit. My first sale came in November 2010, to the brilliant Tessa Woodward at my dream publisher, Avon Books. It’s an unbelievable thrill to know my books will be with the publisher of my idols, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Eloisa James, Julia Quinn and so many others.

I now live in a tiny town in Alaska with my husband and 7 year old stepdaughter. For sanity’s sake, we decamp to Hawaii for a couple months during the winter.
