Amber Inferno
by Jeanne Barrack

Princess Rayne has spent her life trying to be the son her father lost, but her feisty, independent, feminine spirit yearns for a different life. A life with the passionate Prince Pentar, but he hardly seems to notice her. So when she's offered a chance to save her world, she agrees, and who should be drafted as her partner in the quest but the impossibly unattainable Pentar. Prince Pentar reluctantly accepts his participation in Rayne's mission. It's not that he's not patriotic. He is, and he knows his duty. No, it's Rayne. His spell-casting won't reveal his soulmate, he's getting restless—not to mention lonely--and now he has to spend his time in the company of a woman he wants so bad he hurts, but she won't so much as look at him. A quest for a magical artifact, villains out to destroy them, an entire world hanging in the balance... In the crucible of magic and peril, secret desires become an Amber Inferno of passion.

Jeanne Barrack's Bio

My love of fantasy began at the tender age of ten when, stuck in the house because of a blizzard, I ran out of stuff to read! Oh, the horror! Frantic, I got my hands on my older brother's collection of Ray Bradbury's books. "Dandelion Wine", hmmm, just perfect for a snowy day in New York. I was hooked.

My love of romance novels started when I read the galley proofs for a steamy Rosemary Rogers novel. For a brief delirious time, my hubby and I owned a children's book store in Minneapolis and at our first American Booksellers convention we gobbled up any freebies we got, including stuff we'd never sell, like Rogers' book. What a sexy thrill it was - warts and all! It was the beginning of a love affair that has never ended.

Then, dealt a double whammy in 1997 by my mother's death and being downsized from my job, I turned to my dreams for solace. Lo and behold, I created "Silver Fire", a story that combines my two loves of fantasy and sensual romance. Rewrites, edits and writing contests followed. Life and other projects put it on the back burner until 2004, when all spiffed up, I sent it off to Loose Id publishers where we found a home.
