Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m a bit superstitious.
Oh, I don’t worry about black cats or whether the 13th will fall on a Friday. But there are certain harbingers of the future that make me sit up and take notice. Quite often these involve parts of my anatomy. More often than not, it’s a single part: my gut.
Whether clenched or light and bouncing, my gut typically has plenty to tell me and it’s not shy about doing so. Luckily, I can’t think of many instances where it’s led me astray.
The problem is, I don’t always pay attention or consciously acknowledge that my gut is trying to tell me something . . . or that I’d even appreciate it if it did.
By the same token, my gut doesn’t necessarily check in to give me stock tips on a daily basis. In fact, I never know when it might stand up and wave to get my attention. When it does so without a conscious request from me, I’m well advised to heed whatever it’s trying to tell me.
When I invite it to show up and sing to me like a canary, chances are about 50/50 as to whether it will even make an appearance.
I know folks with go-to devices designed to help them determine their future action. One is a big believer in Rune Stones, another swears by the I Ching. I have a buddy who’ll ask yes and no questions before flipping a penny and a friend who’s been known to suspend a ring from thread, making a homemade pendulum.
Me, I’m sticking with my gut. It’s just so darn easy to pack.

For sure I am superstitious. Each time when it is Tuesday, 13, a black cat cross my path and I suddenly have to return where I left from because I forgot something to take… I am going directly to buy a lottery ticket. I always win when I encountered these elements that others are afraid of. So… I officially auto-declared myself “a reverse superstitious person” 🙂
No, not superstitious. I’ve known plenty of people who are, especially family. My mother-in-law is and because she is, if she says, for example, “dont cross another person on stairway,” I wont. Don’t ask, she has superstitions I never heard of. I still respect her and her beliefs as I would anyone else. One never knows.
