I follow a lot of blog posts by Special Forces guys and former SEALs who have a unique perspective on this. I have to warn any of you snowflakes out there. I’m not often politically correct. This will not be an exception.
(OMG did I say that?)
I have a further discussion about this here, if you’re interested.
I read one article on how the Brotherhood begins to form and gel…”something that transcends a normal and conventional existence requiring abnormal and unconventional levels of performance to both achieve and protect the life you are after living.”
His formula for getting in touch with the warrior side are priceless, and this romance writer is grateful for his wisdom. I use a lot of his “isms” in my books, mostly because they make me laugh, but because they are so darned tootin’ true:
- Travel through complexity in every situation (I call this hot knife through butter)
- Have fun, ignite your warrior spirit, do warrior stuff
- Surround yourself with others doing the same.
In my latest piece, SEAL You In My Dreams, which comes out 4/19/17, my hero thinks about what it takes to make it through the grueling BUD/S training.
“You don’t have to be the best, the smartest, the fastest, the most athletic. You just have to possess the passion to never quit.”
I love my job and the fictional characters I get to hang around every day. Nothing on earth could ever be more exciting.
