Weather or Not We’re Ready, Here it Comes

tempThis year’s weather can only be described as one thing: cray-cray.

Seriously, I’ve never seen things so completely messed up.

Yesterday it was 70 degrees, with perfect blue skies.  Absolutely magnificent deck-enjoying conditions. I sat, I contemplated, I napped. It was all very Zen.

Today, it was overcast and 15 degrees, with a strong, bone-chilling wind. Nothing Zen about it. No reason to stay outside one second longer than it takes to sprint from your car to wherever you’re going.

Tomorrow we’re expecting some type of snowfall, no one seems to be sure if it’s going to be flurries or something stronger.

The day after that . . .  well, who the heck knows.

reuters-us-usa-weather-614x409What’s even crazier, for once, Oklahoma isn’t the only place with nutsy weather. In fact, amazing as it seems, our conditions haven’t even been the worst in the nation.

Blizzards and zero visibility have been the situation from Kentucky on up.

So, I’m going to stop writing and turn things over to you. What have your weather experiences been like this year? Been stuck anywhere? Did you come close to freezing to death or get stuck in the airport for days? Or have you escaped all problems?

Driving in very dangerous cold temperatures with extreme windchills

      1. Driving in bad weather is the absolute worst aspect of experiencing a storm, in my opinion. There’s nothing scarier! Hope you’re able to avoid the need to do so from here on out. You take care, you hear? All my best, Jaycie

It has snowed here in Louisiana today.

    1. Wow, experiencing snow in Louisiana has to be a shock to the system! I’d put money on the fact that there’s no equipment whatsoever, whether personal or civic, to deal with that kind of situation, either. Hope you’re able to stay in and stay safe and warm. Thanks for sharing. Jaycie

93 inches of snow in Muskegon,Mi. The last blizzard had drifted up to my doors and couldn’t open the doors to my house untill someone shoveled me out.

    1. Yikes, that’s incredible, Loretta. Must have been scary. So glad someone shoveled you out. Don’t think I’m going to be complaining about the snow around here anymore. Thanks for participating in the discussion!
      Best,
      Jaycie

Where Everyone Knows Your Name: Writing small-town stories.

I have nothing against big cities. My youngest lives in Seattle, two blocks from the Space Needle. I fall more in love with the city each time I visit, but when it comes to where to set my stories, small-town wins every time. Although I admit, sitting near the water’s edge at Lake Union and… Read More
