Shortly after September 11, 2001, the Governor of New York wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Navy requesting that the Navy bestow the name New York on a surface warship involved in the Global War on Terrorism in honor of the victims of the September 11 attacks.
Tons of the steel used in the ship’s construction came from the rubble of the World Trade Center. The steel was melted down at Amite Foundry in Amite, Louisiana, to cast the ship’s bow section.
It was poured into the molds on September 9, 2003, with 7 tons cast to form the ship’s stem bar—part of the ship’s bow. The foundry workers reportedly treated it with the reverence usually accorded to religious relics, gently touching it as they walked by. One worker delayed his retirement after 40 years of working to be part of the project.
USS New York was launched on December 19, 2007, and Christened on March 1st, 2008.
This ship honors the September 11 victims and the Navy Servicemen.
To honor the doctors who serve in the Armed Forces and Doctors without Borders, I wrote a compelling romance brimming with drama, passion and humor.

WE’RE SURVIVORS
They’re both survivors, Dr. Chris Tanner, the surgeon injured in Iraq and Angely Carlisle, the physical therapist jilted at the altar by his selfish brother.
Chris never expected to be treated by the young woman his brother had wronged, the one he himself tried to forget by running away to a war zone.
Now a disabled patient, he worked hard to regain his leg’s mobility and rejects his pretty therapist’s pity.
Despite her better judgment, Angely falls for her patient who’s improving slowly but steadily. When he returns to the O.R., the dashing Dr. Tanner is a magnet for the beautiful women on his staff.
Can he ever regain Angely’s trust?
