The Road to Happily-Ever-After

By Cookie O’Gorman

Hi everyone!

I have a book coming out this week called ADORKABLE, and I’m so very excited!  My nerves are basically shot through with anxiety, but the pure joy is there, too.  There’s also a sense of disbelief mixed in with all of the other emotions.

To be honest, I just can’t believe this is happening.

And I know people say that all the time.  But seriously: I can’t believe I’ll be able to walk into a bookstore and actually see my book on the shelves.

It’s been a long road to get to this point.  From years spent trying to get a literary agent—query letters, anyone?—to finally signing with one, to leaving a couple years later when she was unable to place my book, to waiting a couple more years because my confidence was shattered, to deciding finally to self-publish…and then years later being approached by a publisher…

Again, how is this even happening right now?

Though I write romance, I’ll be the first to admit life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows.  I wish I wasn’t so acutely aware of this fact—but I am.

It’s the reason I write such happy books.  There is too much sorrow and tragedy in the world.  We need more happy endings.  The world should be a brighter, better place, and I will do everything I can to give my readers (and my characters) a bit of happiness.

ADORKABLE is my debut YA romance novel.  It’s about 17-year-old Sally who asks her best friend Becks to be her fake boyfriend for a month.  The only problem is she’s been in love with him all her life—and he’s completely clueless.

It’s full of laugh-out-loud moments and swoon-worthy scenes.  If you love romance, best friends, fake boyfriends and geeking out, I hope you’ll give it a shot!

And if you see ADORKABLE in stores, now you know what a long journey it took for that little book to get there :).

Spoiler alert: This one ends happy (because there’s already too much sadness in the world—and who doesn’t love a good HEA?).

One person who comments will win a $20 gift card!  Good luck!
