A Fresh Baked Top Ten

fatal funnel cake webTop ten reasons you don’t want to enter a baking contest against Phyllis Newsom:

10. Your conversation at the Pearly Gates with St. Peter: “All I did was knock on her door!”

9. All of your dirty little secrets are no longer secrets.

8. You wind up on the TV news and your hair is a mess.

7. The special ingredient in your recipe is rat poison.

6. Those pesky interrogations.

Wedding_Cake_Killer5. You’ll discover your spouse is cheating on you.

4. You’re innocent, but you’re in jail anyway.

3. Defense attorneys cost a fortune.

2. Phyllis’s recipe will kick your recipe’s butt.

And the number one reason you don’t want to enter a baking contest against Phyllis Newsom . . .

You’re now known as “the victim”!

Seriously, the Fresh Baked Mystery series is great fun to write. I’ve been able to tell many different kinds of stories, from tragedy (WEDDING CAKE KILLER) to comedy (THE FATAL FUNNEL CAKE), and the characters have become like old friends to me. Actually, by now they seem more like members of my family. Figuring out what they’ve been up to is always a pleasure for me. I hope the readers have that same sort of emotional connection with them and enjoy the tales I have to tell.

    1. Thanks Nancy, obviously I have fun with this series.

  3. I will give away a signed copy of the trade paperback The Fatal Funnel Cake to someone who comments.

  4. It’s been a long while since I’ve read one fo your books. Heck, I haven’t bought a book in ages. I’ve been reading free downloads. But, these two sound too good to pass up.

    1. Hi Joni. I am guilty of the same thing, free downloads make it harder to pay money for books. Of course I usually get hooked with a series and end up buying the rest of the books in the series.

  5. Lee Ann Bruner says:

Awesome, eye catching cover, can’t wait to start reading!

    1. Hi Lee Ann, it is a nice cover.

  6. Livia, I’m anxious to read this series. I know you put a lot of time, effort, and LOVE into these recipes and it amazes me that you do all that you do–I think I’ve said that about 100 times before! I love, love, love your covers on these! But more than that, I’m anxious to see what a good mystery each of them holds in store.

    1. Thank you Kiki. I appreciate you coming by and commenting.

  10. I am so sorry to be so late getting here. I like the title of your mystery series. Who made the cover? I really liked it. You are one handy woman to have around. You do everything, but what really impressed me was those carpentry skills. I truly enjoyed reading this little tidbit about you. You’re such an amazing, multitalented lady.

    1. Sarah, you’re giving me too much credit. My husband and I were broke authors, so it was learn how to use tools, or find a really good cardboard box. It’s funny, the more tools I’ve acquired and skills I’ve learned, the less time I had to use them. As for the cover, Jesse Reisch is the artist. I love my NAL covers.
