The cupcake maker and….the vampire

Sleeping_with_the_EntityThe cupcake maker and….the vampire.  An unusual combination you might say.  I like unusual combinations.  I also like cupcakes.  The inspiration for my vampire heroes comes from the likes of Ian Somerhalder on The Vampire Diaries or Alex O’Laughlin on Moonlight.  Yummy!

SLEEPING WITH THE ENTITY

SHE HAS A SWEET TOOTH AND A DREAM.

Meet Daniella Delaney. She’s all ready to open her shop, Heavenly Cupcakes, in one of Chicago’s sleepier districts. But she’s having a hard time convincing the local business association—namely Nick St. George—that she’s a good addition to the neighborhood. Daniella hopes that her famous red velvet cupcakes will be enough to melt any man’s heart. But Nick is no ordinary man. He’s got fangs.

HE HAS A CONSTANT CRAVING…

As leader of the Vamptown clan, Nick has no intention of letting Daniella breathe new life into his old haunts. But something about her leaves Nick hungry…for more. He can’t control her mind like other humans, a trait that makes Daniella irresistible. Could it be that, for the first time in centuries, Nick has met his match? Love is always a force to be reckoned with. But can this vampire have his cake and eat it too?

cupcakesOkay, you say.  So where do you get these ideas?  You already know the inspiration for my vampire heroes.  And the inspiration for the cupcakes, well what’s not to like about cupcakes? Especially when I have an awesome cupcake shop nearby called Sugar Monkey.  They have the best red velvet cupcakes.  Hey, research is tough when you’re an author.  RT Book Reviews called my book “Sinfully delicious – 4 Stars!”  Good reviews like that are almost as good as cupcakes.

Today I made the mistake of trimming my bangs myself and the result left me with a gaping hole in the self-confidence department, especially since I’m doing a book signing this weekend. So naturally I headed straight for my local Trader Joe’s (the cupcake store was shut already) to pick up some Caramel Sea Salt Brownie Bites.  Unfortunately they were SOLD OUT!!  I could have cried.  Instead I came home, grabbed box of Good N Plenty and started writing this blog.

Did I tell you that my heroine Daniella likes the color pink?  She’d like these pink Good N Plenty candies.  She drives a pink Vespa – and I got the inspiration for that from local celebrity chef  Rick Bayless who drives a scooter (not a pink one) to get around his neighborhood in Chicago.  And yes, she has a pink fridge – don’t you?  But, trust me, Daniella doesn’t go overboard on the pink thing.

So tell me, what beauty mistakes have you made lately?  And what is your choice of comfort food when the world seems out to get you?

Too scared about hair mistakes, so I never do it myself…poor Cat! That does not mean I haven’t regretted nail polish choices…too light or too dark!

  2. Cat says:

I hear you, Chris. I can’t seem to make myself use the black nail polish or lime green.

    1. Chris Foutris says:

Uh…I’m just talking about deep pink or “ballet” pink…there’s NO way I’m gutsy enough for black OR lime green…
      Courage, thy name is Cat!

    Hey Cat,
I just bought your book so I can’t wait to read it.
Vampires and cupcakes… I know I’ll love the book.
Chocolate is my weakness and I’m on my way out to stock up, maybe chocolate cupcakes. Oh and you can’t forget coffee.

Hey Bonnie, thanks so much for buying my book!! Having chocolate handy will enhance the reading experience Chocolate cupcakes even better. Red velvet cupcakes play a roll in the book.

  4. I hope your book signing is wonderful! I like cupcakes, but call me crazy, the gourmet cupcakes have so much frosting, I end up scraping half of it off. 🙂

  5. Cat Devon says:

Thanks, Stephanie! The local awesome cupcake shop, SUGAR MONKEY, is bringing Red Velvet cupcakes to my signing so we should have fun!
