Seriously Series

heartfortuneIn my “Heart” series, I have a different hero and heroine in every book and the setting of Celta, a planet colonized by Earth people with psi powers, remains the same.  🙂 I make sure that people new to the series can jump right in!

Romantic Times gave HEART FORTUNE 4 1/2 stars and said,  “Choosing your own path is a key theme of the latest Celta novel by consistently fabulous storyteller Owens.  Packed with adventure, sabotage and reluctant passion, Heart Fortune is a dynamite read that is sure to please fans of this outstanding long-running series”.

I am most known for my telepathic animal companions with attitude, and I have two in HEART FORTUNE, one is a hawk, the first time I’ve done a bird Familiar Companion, and one is a young fox who’s always getting into trouble.

HEART FORTUNE is the story of Glyssa, a librarian from a family of librarians, and Jace Bayrum, an adventurer who is currently working at the site of the lost starship, Lugh’s Spear.  They had a hot affair in the past, but didn’t realize they were fated mates (HeartMates)…now Glyssa has sensed the bond between them and gone after her man.

Writing a series is both a pleasure and a challenge.  The pleasure is revisiting old friends and a world that has been built and is continuing to evolve.  When I need secondary characters, I have a whole cast of former heroes and heroines (who DON”T get to hog the stage.  They’re there for a purpose and if readers recognize them, fine).

The challenge in writing a series (and I’ve done three, two of which are finished), is keeping the stories fresh, the characters interesting, and the conflict between the hero and heroine real.  This last is especially true when you have fated (soul) mate stories.  In this case, Jace is not at all ready for commitment and doesn’t really believe in love, especially OwensWebsitebetween a man and a woman…all his affairs have been superficial.  Glyssa is a little uptight, but determined to remind him of their scorching affair and ready to claim him as her own.

If you’re new to Celta as a reader, hop in and welcome!  I hope you want to stay.  If you’re a long-time reader, I hope you find the excavation of the starship Lugh’s Spear interesting and enjoy Jace and Glyssa…and Zem the hawk and Lepid the fox, who, as always, provide comic relief along with the occasional words of wisdom.

May you enjoy all the worlds you visit.  Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again!

I’m single and living in Colorado with cats. I’ve been seriously writing for eight years and HEARTMATE is my fourth completed book. I began writing paranormal contemporary romantic suspense, switched to Regency Historical novels and found my voice in Futuristic/Fantasy Romance. I’m currently working on my fifth and sixth books— both set in the world of Celta (I have lots of ideas for this world). My best writing moment—being the first futuristic romance published in the Magical Love line by Jove! My worst writing moment is every time a rejection hits.

I’m a true INFJ personality type = Introverted, intuitive vs. factual, "feeling" rather than thinking, and make quick judgments.

I’m a nightowl, Scorpio, love pets, and I learn best through touching (tactile). I’m usually optimistic. My other creative outlet (and major achievement) is as a member of the Lungfish Theater improv group.

I love to read and read everything, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, thrillers, romance. I firmly believe that any man who reads a well-written romance will learn what a woman wants.
