Thanks so much for having me back to talk about my latest release A Sucker for You (Afterlife #3)!

Who doesn’t love a road trip story? From famous literary road trips like Jack Kerouac’s On the Road to movies like the fan-favorite Vacation, road trips are an essential part of pop culture.

Because of where I live (Southern California) planning a road trip often means finding ways to avoid the traffic. To me, a great road trip also means good friends and/or family, good snacks, and always, good music.

Road trips play an important part of the Afterlife series. If you’re not familiar with the series, the books are The Afterlife of the Party (Afterlife #1), I’m with the Banned (Afterlife #2), and A Sucker for You (Afterlife #3). The main character is Tansy Mariotti, a high school witch whose life changes when she goes to a party to listen to a band called The Drainers. Turns out it’s a vampire band/band of vampires.

Music is another big part of the books and A Sucker for You is no exception. Music sets the mood for any good road trip, but it can also ruin it, as anyone who has had an earworm stuck in their head can attest. Or hearing Travis Jure sing without compulsion is another good way to ruin a great music mood.

In A Sucker for You, Tansy and her boyfriend Vaughn, along with bestie Skyler and a bunch of hot werewolves, take a trip to Las Vegas. They’re trying to stop Tansy’s mom, The Executioner, and Vaughn’s compelled father from eloping.

When you’re in a purple and black van headed to Vegas to stop a wedding and the van is full of hungry werewolves, it’s not just the quality of the snacks, it’s the quantity that can make or break their trip. It takes a lot of energy to shift from hot growly guys to enormous growly werewolves and that means regular snacks.

Beckett is one of my favorite guys in the pack and he does his best Elvis impression on the way, which may or may not lead to snarls, growls, and even grumpier werewolves. The only thing that saves this trip is that Tansy and her best friend Skyler brought a lot of snacks and a great playlist. Music can soothe the grumpiest werewolf. Honestly, there are tons of songs that would fit the werewolf pack vibe and it was hard to choose just five, but here they are:

TOP FIVE ROAD TRIP SONGS WHEN YOU’RE TRAVELING WITH A PACK OF WEREWOLVES to celebrate the epic road trip Tansy, Vaughn, and their friends take to Las Vegas in A SUCKER FOR YOU by Marlene Perez, out October 24th, 2022

5) HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF by Duran Duran
4) PINK MOON by Nick Drake
2) HOWL by Florence + the Machine
1) YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH by Meatloaf (AKA On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?)

What are your favorite wolf/werewolf songs? I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Ho, ho, ho!

I started my holiday celebrating really early this year with a trip to Candy Cane Lane. No, not a real one. Nobody was into candy canes and Christmas in September. This was to a fictional Candy Cane Lane, the setting for the new movie, Christmas on Candy Cane Lane, due out on the Great American… Read More
