Why? Because I’ll be attending the Romance Writers of America Conference in Denver later this month. The focus there? I’m sure you know: romance.
A few weeks ago, I attended Malice Domestic. The focus there? Cozy mysteries.
And yes, I write both, and have been for years. As I mentioned before, I’ve always said that all my mysteries contain some element of romance, and all my romances contain some mystery or suspense.
I really enjoy writing fiction, and have been fortunate enough to be published a lot. I started out being traditionally published before self-publishing was considered acceptable, and I continue, so far, to be mostly traditionally published.
So much so that I’m hitting some wonderful milestones this year.
First, at RWA National, Harlequin will be recognizing that I have hit a milestone with them: 25 books published. I’m really excited about it, though it’s of course anticipated. I’m currently writing for their Harlequin Romantic Suspense series–a miniseries about a K-9 training ranch–and I also have one more book being published later this year in the Harlequin Nocturne paranormal romance series–my last, since the series is ending.
But that book will be my fourth to be published this year… and it’s another milestone. It will be my 50th published novel!
Would I have been published so much if I focused only on one genre? I don’t know. But I’ve certainly had fun being published the way I have! And there’s more to come.
