Men in Chaps

Rising AssetsI live in the wild northwest, where cowboys exist.  Heck.  They do more than exist.  They work hard, dealing with powerful animals and a deadly Mother Nature.  Hats are worn to protect their faces from wind, sun, and cold…and boots are worn to protect their feet from hoofs, rocks, and crevices.

Not for fashion.

There’s something dreamy about a cowboy falling in love, which is why I wanted to write the sexy Maverick Montana cowboy series.  RISING ASSETS released yesterday at a very nice sale price of less than a dollar.  The hero is a financial genius as well as a cowboy.  Here’s a quick excerpt that I think describes him pretty well:

A bellow echoed before the thunder of hooves ricocheted off the mountains. At least twenty head ran out, chased by Colton and his brothers. If any of the animals tried to veer out of the path, she and Tom needed to chase them back in line.

But for now, all Melanie could do was stare.

Colton rode full bore, his stallion churning mud, his long coat flapping in the wind. The brim of his dark hat was pulled low, and meager light highlighted slanted features and dark hollows in his face.

His chin remained down, his gaze focused on the cattle. The coat emphasized broad shoulders that narrowed to a tight waist. As he passed, the muscles in his thighs clenched the horse.

On all that was holy, he was magnificent.

There was nothing sexier than a cowboy riding through a storm, controlling a wild stallion.

Sure, he was arousing in his suit with his sharp mind making deals.

But here, in nature, with him controlling everything wild around him? Yeah. This was Colton in full force. The more primitive, baser part of his nature.

He was everything she’d ever wanted.

I’ve ridden horses, and I’ve been thrown.  The idea of being able to run full bore while twirling a rope and actually lassoing a rushing animal is unimaginable to me.  Yet these guys make it look easy.  I’m lucky to remain in the saddle.

Thank you for letting me play at Writerspace today, and I hope your week goes nice and easy…and you remain in the saddle.  Enjoy RISING ASSETS!
