Marshmallow World

“Marshmallow World” is what my daughter used to describe the northwoods of Wisconsin last week after five feet of snow landed on us in just the month of February. Before that, we barely had enough to cover the ground! Very unusual.

The snowman photo is one of the ways I try to “cheer up” winter. I have a collection of over 20 snowmen of various sizes. After taking down Christmas decorations, I scatter them around the house. They all look so happy! They make me smile.

I don’t know about you but this winter has been a…. Hmmmm. Strange. Odd. Record-breaking–not in a good way. Has any part of the USA not had a strange winter? If so, I asked my newsletter subscribers to tell me what their winter has been like and what they do to “enjoy” it. Here’s a few replies.

Sarah says:
We had a very mild winter until February… one of the weather stations made a graph comparing our February with Anchorage, AK. We have lower lows & have gotten more snow-just in February! Our highs are only averaging .5* higher. It’s been perfect grab a cup of tea (after you start a HUGE pot), cuddle up in your coziest blankets, and read.”

Denise says:
Hi Lyn, We live in Atlanta, Georgia and this year has been a very wet one for us. We started the year with an excess of over 8” for the year and have doubled that already with little letup in sight. And March is supposed to be our wet month. The temperatures have been either very cold or in the 60-70’s. Definitely not your typical mild winter in the south. So we enjoy fires in the fireplace, cooking and baking and playing inside with our little grandsons.”

If you’d like to “vent” about this winter, leave a note on my blog. Here’s the link.  BTW, my book, Winter’s Secret, has just been released in audio. Drop by and listen to the sample and tell me what you think! Here’s the link. Spring is coming–promise!
