It’s almost November. So of course, we are heading to northern Minnesota!

Yes—jackets are being packed, LOL.   But I can hardly wait to get up to Lake Superior’s North Shore this week.  There’s nothing quite like the beautiful hiking trails and glittering 10,000 (plus) lakes of summer, the outrageously gorgeous colors of autumn, or the pristine silence of the cross country ski trails of winter in northern Minnesota. But though the flame reds and awesome oranges of fall have now passed, we still might see some of the shivery yellows of the poplars and birches.

And then there’s the lake.  Vast, forbidding, beautiful, with a maximum depth 1,330 feet, it’s so cold that it actually doesn’t give up its dead from the hundreds of shipwrecks at the bottom, so that adds a certain level of mystery and spookiness. Going up this time of year means we’ll be hoping for high waves crashing outside our cabin windows—maybe even a good ole N’ Easter. It’s a cozy place to curl up inside with a good book, the fireplace crackling. Or in my case this year, to be at my laptop and hope to finish my current manuscript on time!

Perhaps it’s my favorite place on the planet because it’s in my DNA—evidenced by 23andMe and Ancestry! All of my biological relatives came from up there, straight from Finland, Sweden and Norway.  So I guess that’s why it just feels like home!

What’s your favorite place to go?   And have you ever looked into using 23andMe or Ancestry?

Leave a comment and you will be entered in a drawing for a free e-copy of any one of the books in my Montana Secrets series.

On another note, I have a new book out this month!  Wolf Creek Danger, the second book in my Wyoming Danger series.  Here is quick description, below, and here is the LINK so you find it on Amazon.

Leigh McCallister has come home to the Rockies to set up her new veterinary practice, but now someone from her past is threatening her and that danger is growing. Will returning be the worst—and most final—decision of her life?

Wishing you all my best!

That is a very pretty pic… I have not used Ancestry or 23andMe. I am curious, but never bothered.
