Good morning and thank you so much for allowing me to hang with you for the day.
I’m so excited about my latest release, No Cooldown For Love. It’s a romantic comedy.
My name is Aliyah Burke and I am an author that pens across many genres. From historical to paranormal to contemporary and even cozy mysteries. I am happily owned by an almost 6mo old Borzoi puppy, who makes my life brilliant. A husband of…well, let’s not say how many years. After all, a woman needs some secrets.
Enough about me. Let’s talk rom-coms. Yeah…I get it, this ties into my latest release. But to be fair, one, it makes sense and two…I enjoy talking books
I honestly love romantic comedies. There is something which warms me from the inside out when it comes to them. I can’t get enough of the banter, the embarrassing situations (which in my opinion, need to happen) so they can see more of each others truth than they were wanting to share at the time.
Taking a couple and throwing them together in what can sometimes be the worst situation I can’t tell you, how much I enjoy that. Even if it’s an enemies to lovers or rivals to lovers.
I pick one up and I smile. It’s that simple. At least for me.
Being able to lose myself from the reality of the daily grind and pick up a book that not only makes me laugh out loud but also get all my feels in is like…perfection.
When they get to bring in tropes like just one bed, or forced proximity, it makes me all the happier. When people are taken out of their comfort zone and pushed into situations they would avoid on a normal day, well, again the end result is me smiling.
That was part of the reasoning for this series. All three of them are rom-coms and I wanted to put people in awkward situations and see how they come out on top (mind out of the gutter, now y’all) from everything. So give me three ex-professional sports players and the women who bring them to their knees. We have games, one bed, forced proximity, scavenger hunts, office romance and all the things.
This last one, No Cooldown For Love, is forced proximity, just one bed and they are snowed in together at, of all things, a singles mixer. Cue the games, shenanigans and one of them figuring out they no longer want to hide and have space from the other.
Which brings me to this. What is your favorite type of rom-com? Where they know one another? Small town where you have the interfering busybodies who, of course, know the best of who should be with whom? Where their first meeting is the embarrassment and the start of something new? I would love to know what you think about them. Do you enjoy reading historical rom-coms? Paranormal ones?
And of course, the most important question of all. Do you have recommendations for me?
Thank you to Writerspace for having me, again. And to all the readers who popped in. Comment below and be entered to win a $10 Amazon gift card. I’ll pick a winner Wednesday 28 Jun.
