Here’s wishing you a wonderful summer!

Roxanne Rustand here—hoping that you are enjoying a beautiful spring!

I love this time of year, when our perennial flower beds come to life, and we can begin planting the colorful annuals. Do you like to garden? Whether it’s a large garden or a pot your balcony, what do you like to grow?

I’ve never started plants from seeds, but my daughter Emily and her husband enjoy doing so and they shared a wide variety of tomato, pepper and herb plants with us this spring—names  I’ve never heard of, and can’t wait to taste. Have you tried Sweet Chocolate, Purple Beauty, or Aji Dulce peppers?  Brandy Boy, Chocolate Cherry, or Granadero tomatoes?  It will be such fun to watch these plants grow!  Between watching over our eleven-week old golden retriever puppy Doogan and weeding, I think this summer will be busy!

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to this year’s release of three new books in my Northern Pines Clean and Wholesome series, where romance, mystery, and suspense are set in Lost River, a quaint, picturesque small town nestled amongst the beautiful lakes, bluffs, and river country of the Upper Midwest. It’s a charming, peaceful place to live, and perhaps even find an unexpected chance at love, though not everything is as it seems. For sometimes, danger might be lurking…

Book 1,  One More Dance, is on sale for a limited time for 99 cents!

When veterinarian Kate Mathers drives past the scene of a terrible accident, she whispers a prayer for those involved, not realizing that it’s her husband’s car in flames in the ditch and that a mystery woman sitting next to him has died in the wreck.

Now Jared is in the ICU on the verge of death, and Kate is at his bedside, trying to face his precarious situation and deal with the fact that someone is targeting both her husband and her veterinary practice. And how had their most perfect, joyous marriage have gone wrong—or did it?  If only they can have one more chance to talk and to forgive, and have one more dance in each other’s arms….

Book 2, One More Wish, was released 5/14/21, and is available now!

What do you do when your plans are turned upside down?

While having surgery in a distant city, Ethan needs help with his son and small farm as much as Abby, a registered nurse, needs a temporary home that will accept her rescue dog.  A perfect situation, right?

It is…until she has to deal with his flock of ornery goats, a herd of cattle escaping, and a litter of new puppies born while he’s away. Those challenges are manageable. But now, someone is trying to destroy her professional reputation. And out in the country, a dangerous stranger is lurking in the shadows, and threatening great harm…

    1. Yes…and I wish I could taste the produce now!

I love stories with animals and I’m really looking forward to One More Wish! Have an awesome summer.

    1. I love animals too, Tracy. So I loved writing this book, which involved a menagerie! 🙂 I hope you will read and enjoy it! And I hope you have a lovely summer too.

  3. Beth says:

the books sound interesting. Good luck with the plants.

    1. I do need some good luck, Beth, because I do not have a green thumb. LOL!

  4. I always start my vegetable seeds indoors and then transplant them outside once the soil is warm enough. This year I’m trying several different varieties of peppers. Nothing with exotic names like your plants though! Enjoy a wonderful day!!

    1. My daughter and her husband bought a wide variety of seeds from Seedsavers, which preserves heirloom seeds, and like you, they started the plants indoors. Everything looks vigorous and healthy so far. I guess I should have been trying to start seeds indoors too…both for the variety and the cost savings!

I have not had much space to garden but keep pots of herbs in a sunny window. When we were in a house with a backyard, I tended towards growing things that were little work and would come back/survive to produce from year to year. So they included a rhubarb plant, blueberry bushes, a red currant bush, a fig tree, tea bushes, a goji plant, Swiss chard and herbs like rosemary, sage, thyme and oregano. I really miss it.

    1. What part of the country were you in when you gardening out-of-doors? I haven’t seen plants like a red currant bush, fig tree, tea bush, or a goji plant in this area. I love having herbs out on our deck each year, though!

      1. GB says:

That had been in Oregon, our plant hardiness zone was 7-8. There is a fun plant nursery company called Logee’s that ships plants, if you are looking for something unusual. However, the plants I had were found in the local nurseries.

  6. June Sheppard says:

I love to garden, enjoy my flower gardens and keeping them free of weeds! We also have a vegetable garden and love all the fresh veggies all summer long😊

    1. I’m sure you are a much better gardener than me! The weeds and I have sort of reached a truce.

  7. Jeanette Lewis says:

These books look like wonderful reads! Good luck with your garden and thank you for the chance!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Jeanette!

  8. Cherie Ballog says:

Clean and wholesome books are my favorite and Lost River sounds charming!

  9. Debra Hicks says:

All your books look like great stories. The titles catch my attention
I like both the gardening and the animals in books.
