Here’s to Some Wicked November Reads

Writerspace - Let's Talk Books icon.indd

With the end of Daylight Savings Time ends, night comes quickly, and it can sometimes seem as if the world has taken on a shroud of wickedness.

That makes November a perfect time for a little wicked reading—whether you like yours served up with romance or as a thriller.

A Wicked Way to Win an EarlIf it is wicked historical love you crave, Anna Bradley delivers A Wicked Way to Win an Earl, Book 1 in her Sutherland Scandals Series. Delia Somerset makes a point of avoiding, evading and ignoring aristocrats thanks to the fallout from her mother’s spectacular scandal many years ago. Her plan was faring well, too, until Delia caught the roving eye of Lord Carlisle’s younger brother. Alec Sutherland has now vowed to crush the gossip and Delia if only to avoid the Somersets humiliating the Sutherland family yet again. What Lord Carlisle did not take into account, however, is the allure of the spirited, clever Delia who not only maddens and challenges him but sets his blood a boil.

No Good DeedUncovering bad deeds by good people has made Lucy Kincaid something of an expert on how corruption can seduce the seemingly incorruptible—but it has also taught her how difficult it can be to bring those cases to justice. That’s why in Book 10 of Allison Brennan’s Lucy Kincaid Series, No Good Deed, we find Lucy smiling like a Cheshire cat over the knowledge that corrupt DEA Agent Nicole Rollins finally sits behind bars for murder, conspiracy, and gun running. Then Rollins escapes, and Lucy becomes the key to the biggest manhunt in Texas history. As Rollins keeps upping the ante, the body count is rising. Can this wicked woman be stopped before she destroys everything that Lucy holds dear?

The Nine Month PlanEven the darkest November night can benefit from a little humor, and for that dear reader look no farther than Wendy Markham’s The Nine Month Plan—a wickedly clever cross between chick it and contemporary romantic fiction. We join Nina Chickalini as she is doing her level best to get out of Queens, only to have her best friend, Joe Materi, make one incredible request: Have his baby! How do you turn down a guy who has always been there for you through thick and thin? BookPage reviewer Sandy Huseby observes: “Markham sends Cupid’s arrow straight to the bull’s eye with this sparkling tale.”

So please tell, what is the most satisfying wicked read of your life?
