Lyn Cote here…
I’m in the midst of writing a Christmas novella for the upcoming Sweet Romance Reads Novella series, titled “Puppies for Christmas.” (Six authors have gotten together to release novellas once a week, starting October 1st–so watch for these. All of them have puppies and Christmas in them! Imagine that?
My novella is part of my “Northern Shore Intrigue” series. The title of my novella is “Beneath Northern Lights.” The story of course has a hero. I’ve named him Harry. One of my critique partner maintains that Harry is a name for old men. I countered with Harry Connick, Jr. and Prince Harry. She was unimpressed. SO is Harry a good choice for my hero or not?
What’s your opinion? I really want to know! And I’ll gift one commenter a free ecopy of PRECARIOUS SUMMER, book one in this series, . (If you don’t win, it’s On Sale ONLY this month for 0.99. Will not be on sale for less that $2.99 the rest of the year.) So tell me about Harry and maybe win an ebook!
Beautiful shore, Dangerous Season
“PRECARIOUS SUMMER sucked me in immediately. I loved Audra and her determination. Lyn Cote’s characters are all so vividly portrayed, they are old friends by the time the book ends. There is family drama, an arsonist, a romance, and more in this very entertaining, well written book.”

I like the name of Harry. My uncle and grandpa were named Harry. I visualize a mischievous little boy and his mother calling him and Harry sounds just right. ❤️ He grows up to be a special guy.
Sorry spelled my last name too quickly. It should be Bonuso.
I think Harry is great. I like old fashioned names. And, it is easy to say. Sometimes authors pick names that can’t be pronounced by everyone.
Harry is good, but Conner sounds like a name for a Hero!
I think Harry is too reminiscent of Harry Potter. I would go with Henry instead.
There’s nothing wrong with Harry, but you could call him Hal for short. That sounds a little younger.
Harry could be short for Harrison, that way it is a younger name.
It’s okay
Charles is a popular name in our family. They can be called Chuck or Charlie. I also like Jason I think they are all special hero’s!
Nicholas would be a good name it seems to carry across all ages. He could be old or young as well as Dean, Charles, Adrien, Michael or Justin.
I agree that Harry is an old-fashioned name. However, if you like it I say go for it!
