Whether you have or haven’t would you now like to see it? That is the question we’re pondering today.
I read Gone Girl a little over a year ago. Loved it! Thought it was brilliant. I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys psychological suspense.
Now the movie is out.
Mostly, I’ve heard great things but I haven’t been able to scare up much interest in going to see it because I’ve read the book. This is unusual for me. I read a lot and often look forward to seeing the movie of a book I’ve already read.
For example, I was at the front of the line when The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo came to the silver screen. I couldn’t wait to see both the foreign and domestic versions.
But that’s not the case this time out, mainly because what I loved about Gone Girl was the suspense of the plot. Figuring out what was going on, then learning what would happen as the result of actions the main characters had taken was what I enjoyed most about this particular novel.
So, if the movie is true to the book, that thrill will obviously be gone for me . . . far more than the title character.
Who knows, though? Maybe I’m making a mistake and simply depriving myself of a truly enjoyable couple of hours sitting in a darkened theatre.
Which, just between you and me, is one of my favorite places on earth.
Guess I have to ask those of you who read the book prior to seeing the movie whether you were still able to enjoy the show.
What did you think?
