Dog Days of Summer

by Linda O. Johnston

The dog days of summer are here, which makes me very happy.  Oh, not the heat associated with those dog days, but just the fact they are called dog days.  For anyone who doesn’t know it–or if you didn’t read my post last month about letting me bark to you about my writing–I love dogs.

My most recent book releases include BAD TO THE BONE, my third Barkery & Biscuits Mystery, published in May.  The series is about Carrie Kennersly, a veterinary technician who owns two bake shops, one selling people treats and the other selling healthy dog treats Carrie created.  Carrie has also become an amateur sleuth, solving murders to help suspects including herself and some of her friends.  And of course those stories involve both Carrie’s dog Biscuit and other dogs as well.

Then, in June, PROTECTOR WOLF was published.  It’s the eighth paranormal romance in my Alpha Force miniseries for Harlequin Nocturne about a covert military unit of shapeshifters.  Since the Nocturne series is ending, that might be my last story in that miniseries.  But PROTECTOR WOLF has not only werewolves in it, but genuine wolves and dogs, too.

Then there’s my next book, to be published in March 2018, which I mentioned last month.  It’ll be the first in my new K-9 Ranch Rescue series for Harlequin Romantic Suspense.  The first one is SECOND CHANCE SOLDIER, and now I’m working on the next one in the series.   They all involve the Chance K-9 Ranch–where dog training of many different kinds occurs.

More books about dogs in the future?  Count on it!

Be sure to keep cool this summer, and enjoy your dog days.

  1. Am reading Bad to the Bone as we speak. Even got it autographed. Nothing like spending a warm evening reading a cool book with dogs in it.

I’ve also started Bad to the Bone. I’m wondering who this arch villain – “bad” – will be. Great cover, by the way.
