Be careful what you dig up...

Archaeologists, excavating a Mayan settlement in Honduras, inadvertently release a deadly entity that feeds on pain and death. The entity blazes a fiery, bloody trail through Central America, ending up on a cargo ship bound for the US. Once there, it makes its way to a small town near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania...

The entity is seeking a permanent, human host and finds one in Roger Phillips, a security guard. He begins to inflict his newfound powers on the town of Aronston...

Colette Walls, an adventurous and attractive woman, initially finds Roger irresistible. Slowly she realizes that she is dealing with something beyond the ordinary...

The linchpin of the story is Levi Faber, the oldest citizen of Aronston who knows all the details of the town's sometimes-dark history...
