M. Scott Carter

An award-winning investigative reporter, photographer, and magazine writer, M. Scott Carter is the author of the debut young adult novel STEALING KEVIN’S HEART (RoadRunner Press, October 2011).

An Oklahoma native, Carter has been a contributing editor to Oklahoma Today magazine. His stories, essays, and photographs have also appeared in The Dallas Morning News, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, The Kansas City Star, The Tulsa World, Boston Globe, and The Daily Oklahoman.

A lifelong champion of libraries, Carter served a stint as the head of marketing for the Metropolitan Library System of Oklahoma County, where he developed the state’s first unified literacy marketing campaign—Read Y’all—that continues to this day.

A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Carter is working towards a master’s degree in professional writing from O.U. He lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Karen, an elementary schoolteacher, and their four children. When he’s not writing books, Carter covers the state capitol for the Oklahoma City Journal Record.
