Top 5 Wedding Must-Haves

by Boone Brux

RandomActsofMarriage_500For some of us, our special day is long gone. By special day I mean our wedding day. Mine took place in Vegas and was tons of fun, except for the 108-degree heat. I picked up a few tips about planning a wedding, and I’m going to share those with you.

These are my top five must-haves/tips if you’re planning or about to start planning a wedding. Maybe you won’t think all of them apply to you, after all, I’m a bit on the wilder side, but maybe you can morph it to fit your style. So, let’s get started.

1.   A budget. Above all else, keep to your budget. Forget the $500 engraved crystal champagne flutes, and put that money toward a honeymoon. Or better yet, toward your new life together. But I especially like the honeymoon option. Just sayin’.

2.   A good bridesmaid or best friend. You’re going to need a partner in crime, maybe a couple of them. You need a supportive partner, who will side with you on all debates, be pissed over something stupid your mother-in-law-to-be said, and bring you another mimosa while you’re getting ready for the ceremony. They are invaluable, and besides the budget, a must-have.

3.   A great dress. I know, you’d think this would be first, but seriously, the amount of time you’re actually in the dress compared to how much impact the first two items on this list will have on you, is minimal. That being said, think outside of the box when it comes to purchasing your dress. They don’t have to be white anymore. Actually, until Queen Elizabeth started that trend, dresses used to be the bride’s best dress. Also, be sure to check online sites for bargains, Craigslist and Ebay usually have tons of options. It’s one of the few perks of the high divorce rate.

4.   A selfish attitude. I don’t mean all out Bridezilla, just stick to your guns if there’s something you really want. Everybody will try to tell you what they would do, or offer advice. This is your day. There, I just gave you my advice too.

5.   Last, but not least, a great partner. I guess this should have been first on the list because none of the other things matter if you’re not marrying somebody you truly love. Wanting to be a princess, having a special day, wanting to get out of your parents’ house, wanting somebody to take care of you aren’t good reasons to marry. Marriage is tough, especially after the newness wears off. Then there’s all this compromising and sharing crap you have to do. You’ll be surprised by how many times actually loving the person will save you from smothering them in their sleep.

So there you have my top five must-haves for your wedding. Hopefully, you’ll take some of them to heart. If you’re not planning a wedding, but like to read, check out my new release, Random Acts of Marriage. All the antics and fun without the huge price tag.

Love to all,
Boone

A wedding. A playboy. And a week he’ll make sure she never forgets.

Kinni Corbet is the perfect bridesmaid. She’s efficient and has a to-do list for every occasion. When the bride-to-be adds “relax and have some fun” to Kinni’s schedule, Price Lyons seems to tick all the right boxes. He’s guaranteed fun, and it’s only for one week—what can it hurt?

Playboy hotel owner Price Lyons has wanted to break down Kinni’s walls for years. Her plan to relax for a whole week is the perfect opportunity to get to the one person he’s never been able to charm. And this time, she seems…receptive to his advances. Unexpected, but he’ll take it.

There’s just one problem. Kinni’s allergic to spontaneity, and the only thing predictable about Price is his unpredictably. There’s no way they’ll last beyond the week, and Kinni’s going to make sure of it…
