Top 5 songs to listen to when writing, thinking, reading, or imagining hot firemen…

by Lauren Blakely

Melt for HimFire, heat and burning are fantastic images when writing about a super sexy fireman hero. Fortunately, there are a number of sexy songs with fire-related words in the title to get you in the writing mood. Or reading mood, as they case may be. Here are my top five songs for hot firemen.

I’m on Fire – by Bruce Springsteen

This is one of my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs of all time. It’s moody, sexy and full of desire. The lyrics are haunting and the way The Boss sings about fire and love can melt nearly anyone.

Burning Up – by Madonna

One of Madonna’s first hits, this is a simple yet sexy song about longing. With lyrics like “Don’t you know that I’m burning up for your love,” it not only fits Megan and Becker in MELT FOR HIM, it’s a great theme song for deep wanting.

I Melt for You – by Modern English

There’s a reason this is one of the classic hits of the 80s. It’s damn good. And it lasts through the years. This is a song about passion and everlasting love and it’s sung in an upbeat, hopeful way — “there’s nothing you and I won’t do; I’ll stop the world and melt with you.”

Blaze of Glory – by Bon Jovi

This isn’t technically a love song. It’s more of an anthem. But it’s awesome, so I’m including it.

Sex on Fire – Kings of Leon

Well, the title kind of says it all, right?

MELT FOR HIM

He knows exactly how to make her burn…

Fire captain and bar owner Becker Thomas usually spends his nights alone, trying to escape painful memories from his past. When he meets a sexy, free-spirited brunette outside his bar, he knows he’s found the perfect way to forget for one night. But when he discovers the woman he wants back in his bed is his best friend’s sister, everything comes to a halt.

Megan Jansen has one rule–no firemen. Just out of a toxic relationship, she’s only in Hidden Oaks long enough to visit her brother and photograph the local calendar before she slips off on another adventure. The brooding man who gave her the best sex ever is an unexpected surprise. The problem is, he’s her brother’s friend…and a fireman. She knows she’s going to get burned, but keeping their hands off each other is easier said than done.

Sometimes I listen to a certain genre to get a feel for the personalities of my characters but sometimes it is a specific song that inspires a story.
