The Soundtrack of my Book

by Sabrina Sol

Delicious TemptationBefore I ever type a word, I will visualize the story in my head. Usually I picture the opening scene and the final scene and one or two of the more dramatic scenes.

Characters, dialogue, props – they’re all there playing in my mind like a little movie.

And just like the movies, my stories and my characters need their own soundtracks. That’s why I create a playlist for every book I write.

I am one of those writers who NEED music playing in the background as I write the first draft. It has to be quiet for the editing process, but during the actual writing process having my iPhone (with headphones) is just as important as having my laptop. Writing to music doesn’t just help muffle the chaos of my three-children-three-dogs-one-husband household, it puts me in the mood – the creative mood.

For DELICIOUS TEMPTATION, my new release from Entangled Publishing’s Brazen imprint, the playlist I created was titled “Eric and Amara” after the book’s hero and heroine. There are songs on it about undeniable attraction and longing (“One More Night” by Maroon 5” and “Need You Know” by Lady Antebellum) and songs about soul mates and true love (“All of Me” by John Legend and “Never Stop” by SafetySuit).

But the one song that I’d often put on repeat was “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake. When I hear that song, I hear a man who has just come to the realization that’s he’s found someone who really understands him, who loves him for who he is, and he can’t imagine living a life without her:

‘Cause I don’t wanna lose you now

I’m looking right at the other half of me

The vacancy that sat in my heart

Is a space that now you hold

For me, this was Eric. I’m swooning just thinking of the time he tells Amara…oh, wait. I don’t want to spoil it for you.

Guess, you’ll just have to read it for yourself! * winks *

DELICIOUS TEMPTATION

The only thing naughtier than a bad boy is a good girl…

Amara Maria Robles is a good girl. So good that she gave up her dreams of becoming a renowned pastry chef to help her parents with their struggling Mexican bakery. Yet her parents reject any changes she suggests, and refuse to sell her mouth-watering confections. Clearly being a good girl isn’t paying off. So when her brother’s sexy ex-best friend walks into the bakery, Amara’s tempted to be very bad indeed…

After a scandal twelve years ago, resident bad boy Eric Valencia has returned to make things right with his family and friends. One glance at Amara and her wicked curves, however, and Eric finds himself thinking about how she’d feel beneath him—something he promised Amara’s brother he would never think about, let alone do.

But this bad boy is in deep trouble…because Amara’s determined to have her cake, and Eric, too.
