The High Road

TheHighRoad-Cover__FinalVersion___2_Daniel Tennant, aka The Merger Mogul, has landed the project of a lifetime – to help make Barbados the #1 place to live, work and do business.  However he doesn’t bargain for the opposition he will receive, or the lengths to which the conspirators will go to discredit him in an attempt to bring an end to the project. KT, his wife, forgave Daniel for his betrayal before but the evidence against him is overwhelming. Can she really trust him this time?

That’s just a brief description of THE HIGH ROAD, my new novel. If it is possible, I am even more excited about this novel than I was about the first one, THE MERGER MOGUL.  First of all because I’ve proven to myself that there’s more than one book in me.  Secondly it really stretched me in ways that the first one didn’t and I’m pleased with the result.

To take the high road is to make the most moral or ethical choice in a situation. In this book I’ve added political intrigue to the business and romance of the first book and provided the characters with several opportunities to choose the high road.  I’ve also brought back a couple of the supporting actors from the first book that people have asked me about and of course Daniel Tennant, aka The Merger Mogul, is once again the protagonist.

Like THE MERGER MOGUL, this book is also set in Barbados and Manhattan but since Daniel has been hired by the Government of Barbados to help make the island the #1 place to live, work and do business, he spends quite a lot of time in Barbados.  The reader will therefore get to experience vicariously some of the delights that Barbados has to offer and hopefully that will encourage some new visitors to our wonderful island.

So what’s next? I’m on a drive to continuously improve so I’m already planning the third novel and thinking how I can make it better. This one will be a historical novel set in Barbados and South Carolina in the 1800s. I’m really looking forward to stretching myself to write a novel set in another era, and I’ve already started my research.  I think a trip to Charleston is in order!
