Our Christmas Bell

on November 18, 2020

The last ornament to go on every Christmas tree I put up—the Christmas bell. Let me take you back many years.  I had graduated from Texas Tech in May and by the end of August was teaching my first year in Amarillo, Texas. My husband of less than a year was in the army at… Read More

Jodi Thomas

Jodi Thomas

A fifth-generation Texan, New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Jodi Thomas chooses to set the majority of her novels in her home state, where her grandmother was born in a covered wagon. A former teacher, Thomas traces the beginning of her storytelling career to the days when her twin sisters were young and impressionable.

With a degree in family studies, Thomas is a marriage and family counselor by education, a background that enables her to write about family dynamics. Honored in 2002 as a Distinguished Alumni by Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Thomas enjoys interacting with students on the West Texas A&M University campus, where she served as Writer in Residence.

Commenting on her contribution to the arts, Thomas said, "When I was teaching classes full-time, I thought I was making the world a better place. Now I think of a teacher or nurse or mother settling back and relaxing with one of my books. I want to take her away on an adventure that will entertain her. Maybe, in a small way, I'm still making the world a better place."

When not working on a novel, Thomas enjoys traveling with her husband, renovating a historic home they bought in Amarillo and checking up on their two grown sons.

MY FAVORITE SEASON

on October 22, 2020

Fall is always my favorite season. I love the colors and the cool days. Now, in this time of silence with no one to talk to and nowhere to go, I love the fall even more. I spend my days in fiction both writing and reading and to my surprise I’ve become more creative. I… Read More

The Reason Is You

on May 9, 2013

Hi!  Thanks for having me! It’s a crazy week for me, with the mass market paperback of THE REASON IS YOU coming out on Tuesday.  It debuted last year in trade paperback, and as much as I loved that cover, I love this one even more.  Soooo much fun, and I’m tickled to death that… Read More

Sharla Lovelace

Sharla Lovelace

Sharla once hunted for crab in a Honduran jungle, and explored an unknown cave on her belly through a rabbit hole. Not in the same night.

Now, she lives in Southeast Texas with her family, an old lady dog, and 19 cockatiels. If you wonder how she writes with all that noise—the birds actually have their own house outside. THE REASON IS YOU is her debut novel, and she is hard at work on a second.

When she’s not writing or doing the family thing, she’s working full time or stalking her Twitter feed.

Other random facts:
- Once owned a bookstore
- Used to scuba dive
- Has a freakish fear of tall bridges

Sharla used to be cool and fearless when she was young. Now she can just say she hates bridges. And writes books. Yeah, that part’s pretty cool.
