Summer Reading: Time to Play Catch Up

Let's Talk Books What is it about summer that makes us feel like we finally have the time to catch up on all the good books we didn’t get to over the past year?

Is it the sun showing up a tad after 6 a.m.?  Or, the sun not setting until almost 9?

Is it having almost 14 hours of average sunlight?

Or is it the blessing of a couple of long holiday weekends—and maybe even an actual summer vacation week away from the office?

Whatever it is, some of your favorite authors have seen this moment coming, and they have a bevy of reissues coming out this month, just in time for readers playing summer catch up.

Swept Away#1 New York Times Bestselling Author Robyn Carr kicks the month off with Swept Away, a reissue of Runaway Mistress from May of 2005. Jennifer Chaise has used her beauty to become the mistress of a high-flying businessman, but when she walks in on a violent scene in their Las Vegas hotel room she knows she can no longer deny her boyfriend’s true colors. Armed with a new look and a new name, she flees to a small Nevada town to work as a waitress at the local diner.  Her new world offers comfort and community, along with a sense of purpose, but she finds there’s a reason disappearing acts are the highlight of a magician’s trade. It’s not so easy to simply disappear.  She begins to worry that her police officer neighbor suspects she is not what she seems. Will she be able to hold on to the happiness she’s found should her past catch up with her?

Fans of the #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Linda Lael Miller will have not one but three new reissues available to them in August:  an eBook reissue of One Last Weekend, a three-in-one eBook boxed set of Big Sky Country, Big Sky Mountain and Big Sky River from her Parable Series, as well as paperback and eBook reissues of Arizona Wild, a Mojo Sheepshanks Novel. Mojo Sheepshanks knows a thing or two about starting over; she’s been doing it in town after town since she was a child. Ready to finally settle down in a place of her own, she arrives in Cave Creek, Arizona, where a local police officer named Tucker The Widow's AuctionDarroch seems to still carry some baggage of his own.  As the sparks fly between them, they find themselves working together to solve a decades old crime that has drawn relatives of Mojo’s out of the woodwork and to Arizona.

And should your tastes runs to historical romance, New York Times Bestselling Author Sabrina Jeffries returns with an eBook reissue of The Widow’s Auction, last out in 2002.  When friends propose taking Isobel Lamberton, the widowed Lady Kingsley, to a scandalous auction of masked widows at a London gentleman’s club, she reluctantly agrees, only to find she doesn’t mind being the object of a man’s desire quite as much as she had thought she would.  But before she can grow comfortable in her new role, she draws the attention of the obstinate Lord Warbrooke, whom she has previously tangled with in less sexy circumstances. And if there is one thing they both can agree on, it’s that once Lord Warbrooke sets his mind to getting something, or someone, he doesn’t stop until he succeeds.

Here’s to an August of playing catch up on all those books that eluded you in the past.

We’d love to hear about the ones you finish and enjoyed the most and why!
