I met Nora last November (1998) when she was in New York City before a conference or something. I dragged one of my friends along (since I wasn't too keen on visiting the city at night by myself) and we justified the trip by seeing Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. Then we walked on over to Borders and got there VERY early. So I took the time to blow the remainder of my graduation money on copies of the Reef, MacGregor Grooms, and Silent Night, so I could get them signed.
Nora read an excerpt from the MacGregor Grooms and then opened the floor to questions. I found her very gracious. We were a small group, and she was very friendly, telling us about her experiences, and even, at times, making fun of herself. And then I got my books autographed and my friend took our picture together.
