It was pretty wonderful! Got to see
several people from the ADWOFF site. Nonnie, Harriet, Diane, Jill. Plus
Connie was there with her friend Jan.
Nora looked really good. The Q & A went well too. We had the stupid Roarke
and Eve baby question. Several people groaned when that one was asked.
Later, I asked a simply wonderful question.....Nora, did you have Mavis
become pregnant so people would leave you alone about Eve having a baby?
LOL She said, that was one of the reasons....obviously it didn't work!!! <
snicker> Sorry, Nora. LOL
The usual questions about picking names, heroes, ideas, how fast do you
write, etc.
She talked a little about her new hardcover for next year. She's got the
main story now but has to get back to finish writing it after the tour. Set
in Alaska. Heroine is Meg Galloway, a bush pilot. Cool!! Hero is Ignatius.
Yep, Ignatius. Goes by Nate. Thank goodness!!!! He's a newcomer to
Alaska. Sounds interesting. Nora got to hold a couple of babies. That
made her feel better!!
Interesting note: she said next year's hc will come out in fall. They're
changing her to fall release. I wonder why? And does this mean she'll tour
in the fall? Mmmmm.
I sat in a chair near the signing table and just watched, rather than get in
a line for 1 1/2 hours. Then, when only about 15 people were left, I
got in line. Got a free piece of Godiva chocolate. My mom got a Birthright
Tour t-shirt. Others got free audios of Birthright. They were handing out
goodies left and right. I got a bumper sticker that says--I'd rather be
reading a book by Nora Roberts. woohoo!!!
I gave Nora some bath salts. We only had green coloring, but I told her one
was hyacinth and one was honeysuckle. She oohed a little, so I think she'll
like them. I mentioned that I had sent her some a few years ago and she
remembered!!! Well, she said she did. (side note: yes, Sangeeta, I
have now made yours and will be sending it this weekend, ok? )
I didn't take Birthright because I'm taking it tonight when the signing is at
MY Waldens. But I took the last 2 In Deaths. The policy is she'll
personalize only Birthright but will sign 2 others. Okay. Whatever. I'm
just glad to see her after 2 years. I did buy a couple of In Deaths there
and when the store people were getting the name stickies placed, I asked them
about having Nora kinda personalize these because I'm sending them to some
Marines overseas. They liked that and took them to have Nora sign them with
the stock she was doing before the actual signing. I told them to make sure
she knew I was from ADWOFF.
When they came back, I was told Nora was real happy that ADWOFF was there. <
g> In the books, she wrote Marines Weapons Platoon. Enjoy!! JD Robb
On one of them, she wrote from ADWOFF.com LOL Talk about just reading the
stickie note!!! Oh well, the marines will enjoy it, I hope. I gotta go
Friday and get a few other items that they'll need and I'll ship out the 2
packages Saturday.
Hope they stay there long enough to get them!!
As I was last in line, I asked Nora if she was up to drinks with our little
crew. She said, if you guys want to drive to the hotel. They had her at the
Mansion at Turtle Creek. We're talking north Dallas, about 45 minutes from
where we were last night. I asked her why there? So far away. She said,
well, tomorrow's signing is Dallas. 3 of us immediately said....Nope, it's
in Hurst!!! Nora nodded, right, Hurst. I said, Nora, that's only 15-20
minutes from here. She just looked at me and kinda shrugged. Poor Nora.
They could have put her up at the Mariott near me and she would have been
15-20 minutes from both places!!! Sheesh. Well, we could tell Nora was
tired, she'd had a long day and none of us really wanted to drive clear over
there!! We wouldn't have gotten there until after 9pm. I couldn't see
making the long drive twice, then trying to get up this morning and work!!
Soooooo, we all said, just go to bed Nora.
I'll see her tonight and will ask a couple of more questions. Good ones!!
I, along with several others, took pics and will get them developed this
weekend. One older guy was there with a fancy camera and offered to send us
copies to a specific email addy. We gave him the adwoff site so we'll have
to email Sue about it. Anyway!!!
Enough of this. I had a great time chatting with the other ladies, seeing
Nora, and just picturing July at TTP. Tonight should be just as good. I'll
tell you all about it tomorrow.
Karen L.-still excited!!!!
Signing #2
Oh!! I got an explanation about Remember When, her fall hardcover. I was confused about the In Death and the regular book etc. Now I understand. It will be one book but told in 2 parts. The first part is regular romantic suspense as Nora Roberts. In the story, there is a crime that is never solved. Probably a murder. In the second part, it's 2059,and Eve Dallas picks up the "cold case" to try to solve it. Pretty cool, huh? Plus, we'll still get the regular In Deaths in Sept and March. Woohoo!!!!!
Last night's signing at Waldens was excellent!! My feet hurt. I bonded with Diane from the Adwoff site. :) I invited her to join us and I think she's planning on it.
Nora debuted with Birthright as #1 on the NY Times list and as #2 with Three Fates paperback. Go Nora, go Nora!!!
I asked her if having Kayla around meant that we'd be seeing more little girls in her books. She said, "I've written about girls" C'mon Nora. Not that many. Okay, she said she'd probably start writing more about little girls. :)
We took pictures. I yakked my head off, as only I can do. OH OH Oh I almost forgot. I won an audiobook of Birthright!!! CD version. And, Nora signed it. As I don't listen to audiobooks, I'm including it in our basket for TTP. Okay???
