Nora Roberts has written more than 130 novels, many of them hitting the New York Times bestseller's list; 11 in 1998 achieved this honor, including four which were ranked No.1. Even Nora's trade paperbacks have been known to hit the bestseller's lists, and there are more than 100 million copies of her books in print.Nora is a suprisingly ordinary person for someone so famous. She lives in Keedysville, MD, where she moved 29 years ago. She is married for the second time to local carpenter and bookstore owner, Bruce Wilder. She married her first husband, Ronald Aufdem-Brinke, her high school sweetheart, in 1970. They had two children, Dan and Jason, and later divorced in 1983. She met Wilder when he came to her house to build her bookshelves, and they were married in 1985. Nora started writing in February of 1979, when she was snowed in for more than a week. She says that her first romance was one cliche after another. However, she kept at it, and sold Irish Thouroughbred to Sillhouette in 1981. In less than twenty years, this amazing author has written more than 125 books, several of which were bestsellers, and has become one of the premiere romance novelists. She was the first writer inducted into the Romance Writers' Hall of Fame in 1986. Roberts also writes futeristic suspense under the pseudonym JD Robb. These novels, about the adventures of New York Police and Security (NYPSD) Lieutenent Eve Dallas, have become very popular as well. Roberts has also written under the pseudonyms Sarah Hardesty and Jill March. Books in the UK were published under the name Sarah Hardesty for a time - these same books were published in the United States under the name Nora Roberts. Nora has also written under the pseudonym Jill March; about 20 years ago, Nora did have a story called Melodies of Love published in a publication that was in the format of a tabloid newspaper.
