River's End

Olivia is the daughter of a golden Hollywood couple, Julie McBride and Sam Tanner. However, a drug addiction destroys their life and Olivia, at four years old, witnesses her mother's brutal murder by her father. Due to the intrusiveness of the press, Olivia goes away with her grandparents to live at River's End, a camping ground/lodge in Washington state.

There she grows up, with her mother's murder never mentioned. Until the son of the cop who found her hiding in her closet, Noah Brady, comes into her life. Noah is a reporter, and he writes books about true crime. The story of Julie McBride's murder is one that he has always wanted to write. But to write it, he must learn the truth and Olivia and her family must face the tragedy.

Murialisa's Review: *****
I loved this book. While it wasn't really a romance, it was a riveting story about a girl and her family. The characters are wonderfully round, and reading this book was emotionally moving. I lost track of the number of times I was moved to tears. Nora outdid herself with the vivid, utterly mind boggling description of the vast forests of Washington state, and as usual she was able to add the facts and other little bits and pieces that make her books so believable - the research really paid off. I highly recommend this book - It's an excellent read; you won't be able to put it down once you've picked it up.

Read an interview with Nora about River's End from the Walden Book Report.
