I’m getting ready to create a new website.
In trying to determine all it should contain, I thought I’d check with Writerspace members, the type of visitors I’d most like to have, to learn what lures you to visit author websites.
Then, once you’ve visited an author’s site, what causes you to keep checking back?
Would you like . . .
- Contests
- Audio clips of me reading chapters or segments aloud
- Blogs (if so, weekly or several times a week?)
- Book excerpts
- Background on inspiration for the novels
- A chance to interact with other readers
What have I not listed that you’d enjoy?
Now, let’s step away from the website itself. Which social media venues do you most enjoy? Would you be most likely to follow an author via:
- Writerspace
- Goodreads
- Something else?
WHAT IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS AND OPTIONS HAVE I NOT LISTED? IN ADDITION TO WRITING A TERRIFIC BOOK, WHAT CAN AN AUTHOR DO TO GET YOUR ATTENTION, INTERACT WITH YOU AND MAKE YOU AWARE OF THEIR LATEST MATERIAL? A FREE COPY OF MY DEBUT NOVEL, MRS. GOODFELLER WILL BE RANDOMLY AWARDED TO ONE PERSON WHO LEAVES A COMMENT BELOW BEFORE THE NEXT WRITERSPACE BLOG IS POSTED.
