Letting the Zzz’s Catch Me

Love sleepThere was a time when I’d have to work at, or at least make time for, catching zzz’s. Sleep was a luxury, a beloved memory back then, for I was spending all my time getting my fledgling business off the ground.

I’m not complaining, mind you, because it was an exciting period for me and I loved every minute of it. But I didn’t get a lot of sleep.

You don’t when you work until 4:00 a.m. two or three days a week, despite having meetings scheduled for 9:00 those same mornings.

Time’s, however, have changed. Or at least I have.

I’ve now reached the point (or should I say age) in my life where the zzz’s catch me . . . often unaware.

And darned if I don’t like it, so long as I’m not driving.

Today I was off work and after doing some much needed weed pulling in my flowerbed I came in and actually took a nap.

In my twenties I avoided naps at all cost because I always seemed to wake up groggier than when I’d gone to sleep.

But that wasn’t a problem for me today.

Darn if I didn’t feel great when I got up, although the idea of sleeping longer did appeal.

That kind of success is enough to make me think ahead to future naps. Heck, my whole life could be on the verge of change.

But I think I’ll sleep on it before making any decisions.

HOW ABOUT YOU, DO YOU LIKE TAKING A NAP? OR ARE YOU LIKE I USED TO BE AND YOU FEEL WORSE AFTER NAPPING DURING THE DAY? A FREE COPY OF MY DEBUT NOVEL, MRS. GOODFELLER WILL BE RANDOMLY AWARDED TO ONE PERSON WHO LEAVES A COMMENT BELOW BEFORE THE NEXT WRITERSPACE BLOG IS POSTED.
