DARK HEROES

Silk and Steel(newcover)I love dark heroes.  The moody, brooding, dark-haired, dark-eyed hero of the story.  In SILK AND STEEL, Lucien Montaine, Marquess of Litchfield, is a man born into wealth and power, a man who has it all.  Which often makes him  foul-tempered, arrogant, and difficult.  He is also a man with a deep sense of honor and social conscience.

Over the years, I’ve written a number of dark heroes.  Captain Ethan Sharp in DEVIL’S NECKLACE.  The Earl of Greville in HEARTLESS.  Damien Falon in DEVIL’S PRIZE.  These sullen, temperamental men are a challenge women can’t seem to resist, though it takes a strong, determined heroine to redeem these lost souls.

Dark heroes are among my favorites, including Lucien Montaine.  So heroic and sexy, with secrets and forbidden pasts that make them the strong, dynamic men they are.  Lucien is a hero whose past keeps him from following his heart.  No way will he ever love a woman who has deceived him, as Kathryn Grayson was forced to do in order to escape the insane asylum her uncle has committed her.  Her ruthless uncle is determined to steal her fortune–not matter what it takes.

Lucien is the only man who stands between Kathryn and a life of torture, locked away in an institution.

Kat - Ventura Star (500x350 (150dpi)It’s an emotional story.  I’m proud to say, it was a finalist for the RWA Rita Award for best Historical Romance.  This July, SILK AND STEEL is being re-issued with a brand new, gorgeous cover.

I’m hoping readers will enjoy Lucien Montaine, Marquess of Litchfield, and Lady Kathryn Grayson, the passionate woman who wins his love.

Have a wonderful summer filled with lots of good books.  All best wishes, Kat

The Vestal Virgins

On my recent trip to Rome to finish researching St. Cecilia’s life for my historical fiction novel, Virgin Martyr, I spent some time at the Temple of Vesta and the home of the ancient Roman Vestal Virgins. One of my purposes in writing this book was to investigate how attitudes about women’s sexuality and social… Read More
