ell people a bit about the story?
bryony - <Mary, don't forget the Acknowledgement Page!!!!>
Stella - If not, please just start with Q&A
bryony - Oh dear, I think Mary fell off the perch again
bryony - she's not showing as online
Stella - ?
Cissy - Shall we just go on to Q&A?
Sara - well, COLD DAY starts on a hot day in LA
Sara - at night, very spooky
Sara - grabs you right away
gerri - Stella I havent' seen either books here.....I guess I'm going to have to order them....of couase my bookstore doesn't get the books for aocuple of month after they are out
Cissy - if you have a question for Stella, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Sara - scary -- the woman's worse nightmare, at night, lonely road, car stops, convinced that there is something in the dark out to...
Cissy - Stella, you have a question?
Stella - That's hard, Gerry.
Stella - I'm listening to Sara
Sara - and takes off from there. It is a WONDERFUL start for a suspense, obviously you have to read on to find out what happens
gerri - I know stella....so if its not at the grocery store I'm usually the last to read it
Caffey - Hi Stella
gerri - Hi Morgan
Sara - Then there is this (as usual with a Stella book) menagrie (can't spell tonight and people are rushing me to type)
Caffey - and hello all
Morgan - Hi all. I'm late! I'm sorry.
ing
Sara - of characters. The priest's home (or rectory -- is that what it is called, not being Catholic, I can't remember the precise term)
Cissy - Hi to those coming in!
Welcome to our chat with Stella Cameron! We're chatting with Stella tonight about her latest releases MAD ABOUT THE MAN and COLD DAY IN JULY. We're operating on protocol (more or less) this evening, so if you have a question for Stella, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
BonnieJean Hamilton - back
Caffey - you tallking about finding CDIJ? Rhapsody book club has it, page 11
Sara - is filled with interesting characters -- coming and going, red herrings or not?
Cissy - just starting to talk about it, Caffey
Caffey - Cissy, also TRUE BLISS was re-released this month
Cissy - yep, Caffey - and MAD ABOUT THE MAN. We have *lots* to talk about tonight
Caffey - we do
Stella - Stella, do you think you'll write more books set in Toussant and with Father Cyrus stepping into the middle of romance, murder and mayhem?
Sara - Marc is a hottie -- impatient and ALL male. Reb is a healer and sticks in this small sleepy insular Southern LA town.
Sara - Now, Stella, is the town based on a location that was hit recently by Lili? I was just wondering. I knew it was near Lafayette or am I really wrong?
Stella - Sorry to interrupt, Sara--You carry on because you're doing a great job
Stella - You're right, Sara
Stella - In fact I just spoke with one of the people who helps me with research and she said a tree fell across their house but they were lucky
Sara - over to you guys, for questions.
Caffey - i''m confused or maybe its my meds, lol
Cissy - I know the answer to that one, Stella! At least the answer BETTER be yes, yes, YES!
TLynn - ?
Stella - Fortunately Lili went from a 4 to a 2 before it hit so things are a lot better than expected. Toussaint is doing okay in fact!
Stella - Yes, I do intend to write more stories about Toussaint and am already halfway through the next one.
Caffey - are you still in ohio at the conference now?
Stella - Cathie, hang in there
Cissy - Tlynn has the first question (no one in line)
Maryf -
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stella - I'm in Seattle.
bryony -
Caffey - i'm trying Stella
Stella - Thank you, Mary. TLynn?
TLynn - Would a hurricane play into the plot of a future book?
Stella - It could. I shall mention Lili in this book and I'm glad I have time to deal with that.
Stella - My books always incorporate weather--which I think impacts the way people behave.
Stella - ga
Sara - hurricanes can be so character defining
Cissy - bryony has the next question
Sara - and no, I am NOT going to explain that one!
Stella - I get it out of you later, Miz Sara.
bryony - Stella, how many books do you plan to have in your new series, THE PERILS OF GASTON?
Cissy - uh oh, cryptic Sara
Sara - uh huh!
Cissy - LOL... "perils of
"
Sara - I am teasing!! my job ya know
Maryf - ROTFLMAO
Sara - gotta say, I love a book that makes you scared in the first 20 pages
Sara - or less
Stella - Hmmm, interesting question, Giselle. I have about 4 in mind but I think it may grow as the series goes on.
bryony - <staring at the CDIJ banner with a fixed and mournful gaze>
Stella - Sara--I managed to scare myself. I was afraid to leave my office, or I felt weird, I suppose.
bryony - And Gaston will be an integral part of all the books??
Stella - That's probably because I write at night and looking out into the darkness I could see big trees blowing in the wind and I was right there with Bonnie Blue.
Cissy - and will I be required to put Gaston on future banners?
Stella - I've scared myself before, but that was a true creep out.
Sara - well, it was the whole starting with what I think is most women's biggest fear -- the night drive alone on a deserted road (can be a city street even) and having the car fail
Stella - M. Gaston, please control your helper.
Sara - or even the fear of running out of gas at night alone
Sara - to me it is pretty terrifying
Stella - I agree, Sara.
Cissy - oh yeah...
bryony - Silly question Cissy. Probably as silly as, do you want me to send you some Violet Crumble once Gaston appears on the banner ...
Cissy - that's one of the big fears alright
Cissy - that and footsteps behind you in the dark
Stella - I was once on foot on a dark road--totally deserted.
Cissy - ooh, Stella - she may have a bargaining point there!
Sara - you are brave, Stella. Writing that scene at night problaby helped you, but I doubt if you could sleep for awhile after
Stella - Trying to get home. I had a little knife (pocket) in my pocket and opened it to hold and gain courage.
bryony - I get paranoid when I housesit. I have all the doors locked, even in mid summer
Stella - When I got to some civilization my hand felt wet and I had cuts in the palm of my hand.
bryony - and I let the dogs sleep on my bed
Sara - now, I am all alone tonight and it is starting to storm. I really do NOT need these reminders!
BonnieJean Hamilton - ouch Stella
bryony - <addressing a parcel to Cissy>
Cissy - oh dear... maybe we should talk about MAD ABOUT THE MAN for a bit?
bryony - hug your cat or dog Sara, that can help
Maryf - OHHHH creepy
Stella - These are universal fears, that's why they speak to all of us when we read them.
Sara - Stella!! the point is to protect you, not to hurt yourself! I am sure that is the idea.
Stella - Yeah!!
Sara - Larry moans and the cat is totally useless
Stella - Mad About The Man is about a VERY successful man--a candymaker
and a theatrical milliner.
Maryf - Hello Darlin
Darlin' -
can't stay away from you gals long, sorry I'm late, made supper
Cissy -
Stella - Mary, you read CDIJ--how did you make it through the prologue?
Stella - Hi, Darlin'
bryony - you could hurl the cat at an intruder, they are fairly aerodynamic
Stella - Cissy--this means you'll have to put Gaston on the banners, you know.
Cissy - bry!
Maryf - was still laughing due to the acknowledgement page!
Cissy - poor kitty
Darlin' -
oh no
bryony - Without Gaston, there is no CDIJ, of course he should be on the banner
Stella - !
bryony - Hi Darlin
Sara - hmm, Bry, that is a thought. Of course, Gwen would murder me later if anything happened to Lucky
bryony - Cissy, cats land on their paws, hopefully with claws fully extended into the intruder's face
Sara - and I survived my ordeal
Stella - In the teeny California town of Goldstrike, where Gaby has escaped to look for a less crazy life than the one she lived in LA.
Cissy - so tell us more about this candymaker, Stella...
Maryf - I liked it it set the tone for the book
Darlin' - I can see Stella's book made into a movie now, with Roy Orbison singing Candy Man in the background
Stella - The jingle will be "Go for the Gold in Goldstrike." Too bad the luscious Jacques doesn't meet wide-eyed enthusiasm.
Cissy - oh... scary thought
Darlin' - Imp
how nice to see your smiling face
imp - Hello all!!
Maryf - IMP!
imp - Hello Clem
es
Cissy - hi imp
Welcome to our chat with Stella Cameron! We're chatting with Stella tonight about her latest releases MAD ABOUT THE MAN and COLD DAY IN JULY. We're operating on protocol (more or less) this evening, so if you have a question for Stella, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Stella - He thinks the fascinating Gaby has a lot of promise as an ally in his plan, and as an ally in bed. "Uh, huh, not so fast. Show me why I should go along with anything you say, Snicker Face."
bryony - Hi imp
imp - Hi Mary...
es to you too.
Stella - "Because I'm devastatingly handsome, virile, rich and you need me."
imp - Hello Bry...
Stella - Hi Imp.
Cissy - LMAO, Stella!
BonnieJean Hamilton - gotta run..sorry I can't stay longer...need to get things ready for work tomorrow...night all
Darlin' - oh already we want to see this overconfident man taken down a peg or two, is he the hero???
TLynn - and modest!
Stella - "I say I don't need you....but I do want you, sorta."
imp - Hello Stella sweetie
es
Cissy - *snickering* oh, this sounds fun
Stella - Your job, dear readers, is to figure out when these people are taste testing candy and when they're taste testing each other!
Darlin' - oh yum
Stella - You must be prepared to do whatever, on horseback, or on a motorcycle, or in a jeep. Either kind of tasting, that is.
Darlin' - it's gonna be show not tell, eh?
Maryf - Will we be quizzed on this?
Stella - Cissy--just go with it
TLynn - Sounds like my kind of job!
Cissy - sounds ... tasty
Stella - Mary--I'm telling you about the story. Whether or not you go with it is up to you. But I was almost certain you had a sweet tooth.
Darlin' - kibbles and bits...I mean nibbles and bits
Stella - Lynn--you are a smart woman.
Darlin' - bites
Stella - nibbles, bits, bites, kibbles--anything goes.
Maryf - Who doesn't have a sweet tooth? LMAO
bryony - horses???
Sara - so, was it hard, Stella, to mix this "test tasting" with"test tasting"
???
Stella - And Gaby's ex husband reminds me of a character out of High Noon.
Cissy -
Darlin' - love those old dusters and
bryony - <diving for the Tim Tams>
Stella - Especially when he's walking down Main Street (the only street) in his duster, Stetson and silver toes books.
Darlin' - Sara, be careful about your definition of hard
Cissy - oh my...
Cissy - welcome back April
Darlin' - I love the way you think, Angel, dusters, right up there with chaps
imp - Aww Clem....you beat me to that one
AprilEden - thanks. Sorry it wasn't sooner
Stella - Sara--in fact this was hard to do! Once I was in the swing, so to speak, I had a ball. but translating the idea onto the page without messing up wasn't a cakewalk.
Darlin' - ROFLMAO, Imp
bryony - <having a discreet little swoon now>
Sara - now, there is "hard candy" and "HARD candy"!! I do work out in the gym these days
Stella - Darlin' You couldn't resist, could you?
Darlin' - more like a catwalk, Angel?
Cissy - now we know why Sara spends so much time at the gym...
Sara - so, I get to watch the "candy"
Darlin' - every chance I get, Stella
Sara - it is sorta interesting
imp - Forget McQueen....I'm seeing a younger Mel Gibson!!!!!
Stella - This is HARD candy, and sticky, gooey, sweet, mouth-watering candy.....
Sara - uh huh, didn't you know, Cissy?
Sara - twice a day sometimes
Sara - the morning and afternoon shifts, you get both kids. uh hemm
Cissy - oh yeah, Sara - I'm remembering my gym days... (Maybe it's time to go back
)
bryony - I hesitate to ask if you do any sweating at the gym, Sara ...
imp - Oh Stella!!!! YUMMY!!! Please do go on!!!!!
Stella - Sara, Sara....
Cissy - Stella, has anyone ever told you you have a way with words?
Sara - uh, Bry, I definitely do!!
Sara - I'm being good! Honestly!
Stella - This is a fast read. Sexy book--I had a lot of fun with that.
imp - Cissy...Me Me....every chance I get..don't I Stella!!!
Darlin' - eye candy, right up there with stick candy <g>
Stella - Now you mention it, Cissy, I do believe I've heard that once or twice.
Rosedust202 - Hi everyone...Just saw you all in here and wanted to say howdeeeee!
bryony - which activity is your favourite, to induce sweating, I mean ...
Stella - Darlin!!!!!!!!
imp -
