SusanA - logged on. - 12/12 at 9:36pm EST
KatBos - Hi Susan.
Shar - Hi Susan!
SusanA - Hi
Cel - Hi SusanA and welcome
Cissy - Hi Susan! Welcome.
SusanA - I'm always al little slow to get going on these chats
SusanA - so bear with me
Esther - Are you talking about a new t-shirt or the green one?
Esther - Cissy If there's another t-shirt I want one too
Cissy - well you've got a few minutes to get acclimated before we get rolling
Cel - No problem - we'll give you all the time you need.
KatBos - I just got the Exposure reprint yesterday!
SusanA - Interesting how everyone here has picked a different color. Do y'all always use a specific one?
Cissy - we haven't made a new one yet Esther (except for the one we gave Jayne)
KatBos - Susan, I just like blue. LOL
SusanA - Kat, isn't the new cover great?
Cissy - I can't wait to get Exposure. I've always heard such good things about it but never been able to find it before the reprint
Cel - Some of us have a color *named after us* so to speek, but they are not exclusive and anyone can use them.
Shar - I do.
KatBos - Yes, Susan, I love it!
SusanA - Yeah, it's really nice that Zebra is finally putting out my backlist in numbers
Shar - Susan, I saw Exposure yesterday at my bookstore, but didn't have the money to get it this week.
KatBos - Hi Susanna.
SusanA - Whoa, cool running puppy! How do you do that?
Shar - Hi Susanna.
Cel - Susan, if you want to know what icons are available for this room, click on the *Chat Icons* link at the bottom of your screen.
KatBos - I lucked up on a copy of Shadow Dance after I read your wonderful Baby books!
SusanA - Oh, Shar, I hear that. So many books, so little bucks
Cissy - // puppy (without the space)
SusanA - SD is one of the harder ones to get. That and Obsessed.
Cissy - // dog (without the space)
joslync - Susan, how many books have you published?
Shar - I intend to get it next week, if I can sneak it past my husband.
SusanA - after your name, you mean ( )
SusanA - Whoops. I guess so.
KatBos - Shar, I know how that goes! LOL
KatBos - My husband is starting to notice the tbr pile now though! LOL
SusanA - Joslync, seven books. My next new one from Avon, Baby, Don't Go, will be #8
Cel - I know Exposure is available at my local Waldenbooks, but I'm waiting for my Crown Books to get it in (they are a little slow).
Shar - My dh hasn't noticed my pile yet. I'm hiding them in my desk.
KatBos - Shar, I have too many to do that. I have 7 boxes and a book case FULL!
jill - - 12/12 at 9:44pm EST
Shar - What is BABY, DON'T GO going to be about?
KatBos - I am a BOOKAHOLIC! I have a severe case!
SusanA - I don't do the tbr piles as much as a lot of romance readers. I tend to buy 1 or 2 at a time, read em and then go back for more
jill - Hi everybody!!
Shar - Hi, Jill
Cissy - going for that great discount at Crown, Cel?
Susanna - Cissy are we following a format?
SusanA - Hi Jill
KatBos - Hi Jull.
Cissy - Hi Jill
KatBos - I mean Jill.
april - logged on - 12/12 at 9:45pm EST
Cel - Thank heavens I don't have a dh to see my 500 plus TBR piles.
Katie B - logged on. - 12/12 at 9:45pm EST
troutqueen - logged on. - 12/12 at 9:45pm EST
KatBos - Hi Katie B.
Cel - Hi Jill and april
Katie B - Hi everyone
KatBos - Hi troutqueen.
Shar - Susan, before my baby was born I actually managed to find the bottom of my TBR pile. Now I have one again.
Cissy - Yes, Susanna - we're going to use a modified protocol tonight. Susan, that means that people will be lining up to ask you questions and I'll call on them - if that works for you
Cel - Hi troutqueen
SusanA - Shar, I'm very BAD about synopsising my books, but basically its about Daisy Parker, who suddenly finds herself in a position to bodyguard Nick Coltrane, the guy who stole her virginity and then left her in a very abrupt way nine years ago
Shar - Hi, April & Katie B
Shar - Must Buy, then.
Shar - hi troutqueen
troutqueen - Hi...gimme a bit to get used to this!
jill - Hi troutqueen and april!!
SusanA - Cissy, I'm catchin up here. Yes, the modified protocol sounds great
april - Hello to everyone. I've never been here berore... very excited.
Katie B - Hi, this looks like a fun group tonight
Susanna - Oh I forgot Hi all !!
Cel - You are definitely on my *auto-buy* list now, Susan.
SusanA - Hi to everyone I missed while I was looking at my keyboard
KatBos - Mine too, Cel!
SusanA - Ooooh, Cel, THANK U
darla - logged on, framefree. - 12/12 at 9:47pm EST
Cel - Hi darla
//heart - logged on. - 12/12 at 9:47pm EST
KatBos - Hi Darla.
Shar - Susan, I loved BABY, I'M YOURS. It was the first I had ever read that you've written. I've bought every title I can find.
KatBos - Hi Heart.
KatBos - HI dreamer1.
Cissy - Everyone, we'll get started here in just a couple of minutes (let's give people a little longer to get it). We'll be using a protocol tonight so hang onto your questions!
Cel - Susan, Beau was to die for in BE MY BABY.
SusanA - Thanks Shar. My backlist was printed in very limited numbers. I'm really pleased that Zebra is finally bringing it back out again.
SusanA - I love all these icons!
KatBos - I am too, Susan!
Cel - BTW, the *tongue* is our icon for lust - // lust
Cissy - we should show Susan some of our best ones! *eg*
SusanA - Yeah, it's sorta self evident <g>
april - How does this work? Sorry, feeling my way through this.
Cel - We should Cissy - how about
troutqueen - I'm just going to lurk. I'm supposed to be studying for a final
Cel - Or if you are hungry -
SusanA - How the heck do you DO these things? Like the puppy one?
Cissy - Tonight we'll be following a modified protocol so that Susan can keep up with all of us. To ask Susan a question just type ? (not the question). I'll keep a list of names in order and call on you when it's your turn to ask your question. If you just want to make a comment to Susan or anyone else in the room, go ahead. You don't have to line up for that.
SusanA - Hi heart
Esther - logged off. - 12/12 at 9:50pm EST
april - I like the fridge.
Cel - Susan, click on the *Chat Icons* link at the bottom of you screen.
dreamer1 - ?
Cissy - Okay, guys maybe we should go ahead and get started.
april - Thanks! It makes sense now.
SusanA - ahhh.
jill - Those are new ones. How do you get the fridge?
jill - ?
Cissy - Tonight we have a very special guest for our chat. As you all know already, Susan Andersen is the author of the bestsellers BABY I'M YOURS, BE MY BABY, and the just re-leased EXPOSURE. We're very pleased to have us here with us tonight. Susan, is there anything you'd like to say before we get started?

Shar - BRB
Cissy - Just a couple of procedural points before we get rolling:
SusanA - Actually, I should say, I'm very happy to be here and thanks for having me.
Cissy - (1) As I just mentioned, tonight we'll be following a modified protocol so that Susan can keep up with all of us. To ask Susan a question just type ? (not the question). I'll keep a list of names in order and call on you when it's your turn to ask your question. If you just want to make a comment to Susan or anyone else in the room, go ahead. You don't have to line up for that.
nktr411 - hi
Katie B - are we mostly readers here, writers, or both?
KatBos - Hi nktr411.
Cissy - (2) Please don't send private messages to Susan. It's really hard for the person on the hotseat to pay attention to what's going on and handle private messages at the same time.
Cissy - (3) FYI: "Lurkers" need to click the UPDATE button occasionally so they won't be timed out of the room.
Susanna - Reader
SusanA - Hi nktr411
Shar - reader
Cissy - Okay, that's it for me. Dreamer1 has the first question, followed by jill.
nktr411 - Hi Susan
jill - Reader.
dreamer1 - When's the next Baby Book?
KatBos - reader/aspiring writer here.
SusanA - May 2000 It's called Baby, Don't Go
joslync - a reader (wanna-be writer) - hi nktr411
troutqueen - Definitely a reader, but not doing much of that lately. Busybusybusy
darla - just lurking tonight.
dreamer1 - ?
Marg - reader
Cissy - jill, you're up, followed by dreamer
jill - The Baby books have a lot more humor. Was this a conscious shift or did it just happen?
Janice - logged on - 12/12 at 9:56pm EST

Janice - Hello
SusanA - Hi Janice
jill - Oops should have said compared to Exposure.
Cissy - Welcome to our little home, nktr411
Shar - You'll really enjoy it here, nktr411. Its a lot of fun.
SusanA - It was a little of both. The bottom had dropped out of the romantic suspense market.
joslync - Hi Janice
Celeste - AOL dumped me out. Grrrr
Shar - wb,
Cissy - Hi Janice! Tonight we're following a modified protocol so that Susan can keep up with all of us. To ask Susan a question just type ? (not the question). I'll keep a list of names in order and call on you when it's your turn to ask your question. If you just want to make a comment to Susan or anyone else in the room, go ahead. You don't have to line up for that.
SusanA - I'd been dropped from Zebra and searched for something a little different to write, and the idea for BIY came to me
Shar - supposed to be wb, Cel

KatBos - Hi Janice and Marie
Cissy - dreamer, you're up followed by troutqueen
SusanA - Hi Marie
marie84 - Hi all!
dreamer1 - hi all
Cissy - Ooh, you have lots of fun ahead of you nktr411
Celeste - ?
Cissy - dreamer - you had a question?
joslync - ?
Shar - Susan was one of the first romance writers that I ever read.
KatBos - nktr411, you sure do!
Katie B - ?
dreamer1 - Can you tell I'm nervous to be in on Susan's chat I forgot my manners and I'm sorry but SUSAN ANDERSEN god this is great
dreamer1 - What is Baby Don't go About?
SusanA - Oh, honey, you don't haveta be nervous with me. I'm one of those laid back types. <g>
Cel has timed out.
nktr411 - What book shoul.d I read first?
troutqueen -
Shar - I agree, april. My dh already complains I spend too much time at the computer.
dreamer1 - But you're one of my all time fav's and I think this is sooooooooo great!!!
troutqueen - Oops Sorry 'bout that...
april - Mine too! He just doesn't UNDERSTAND! hehehe
Janice - ?
SusanA - B,D G is in a really small nutshell about Daisy Parker, who finds herself in a position where she has to bodygaurd Nick Coltrane, the guy who stole her virginity and left her very abruptly 9 years ago
Shar - Read BABY, I'M YOURS.
Cissy - troutqueen, you're up, followed by Katie B
marie84 - logged off. - 12/12 at 10:03pm EST
troutqueen - Susan, how did you research southern dialect in your earlier books?
nktr411 - //hear
dreamer1 - Sounds like another winner can't wait for it to get on the shelves
SusanA - OK, this is embarassing, because I didn't know squat about southern dialect. I missused y'all right and left as both singular and plural
Susanna has timed out.
SusanA - I'm pleased to say tho, that they let me redo my mistakes in Present Danger, which will be out next summer. I'd asked to in Exposure, but they couldn't
Celeste - LOL Susan - I really didn't notice, but then I'm from Calif.
Katie B - how many books did you write before you found you had built up a readership? Have you ever written catagory?
KatBos - Susan, if you ever need some help with Southern dialect, let me know. I'm from South Carolina. LOL
troutqueen - Ooohhhh...okay, that explains it So glad you're redoing PD. It was one of my faves and I try to recommend, but none of my southern friends will bite.
Cissy - Just rememeber that to "real" Southerners, y'all is always and only SINGULAR
SusanA - figure out a way to pump up the galley so I didn't get to, but they figured it out in PD, which I made the most mistakes in.
Cissy - ACK!!! I'm mean PLURAL!
Janice - LOL Cissy
nktr411 - I am from VA
Cissy - That huge THUD was all my ancestors rolling in their graves, and a few living ones falling out
Katie B - I'm in Georgia
troutqueen - Down here in Memphis, which is as good as Mississippi.
Cissy - Katie B, you're up followed by Cel
april - me,too, nktr411, but I raised in New England which is how I never catch Southern mistakes.
Shar - LMAO, Cissy!
KatBos - Ohhhh, lots of southerners here tonight!
nktr411 - I am from Atlanta
dreamer1 - I didn't know that who says you can't learn something new and I'm a Yankee from WI
SusanA - I built up a sort of cult readership with my zebra books, but it wasn't until I went to Avon that my career really took off
Shar - I don't even have a true Southern accent!
troutqueen - Sadly, I don't have a southern, though. Spent too many years in Indiana. Besides, a southern out of an Asian just looks weird.
jill - Born in Mississippi, currently in NC.
Cissy - ?
SusanA - oh and the catagory question. I started out trying ot write catagory but was never able to do it. I think that's the toughest catagory there is. You have to make every word count
Robin - logged on - 12/12 at 10:10pm EST
Celeste - Does Exposure have humor in it like your last two Avon books?
Cissy - FYI: "Lurkers" need to click the UPDATE button occasionally so they won't be timed out of the room.
Robin - *slipping in quietly so as to not disturb*
Shar - Hi, Robin
joslync - hi Robin
SusanA - Not as much, but all my books have humor in that most of my humor comes from the dialog rather than the situation
Cissy - Hi Robin!
SusanA - Hi robin
dreamer1 - Hi Robin
Celeste - It's about time, Robin.
Robin - thanks Cissy. Hi everyone
Cissy - Katbos, you're up followed by joslync
april - hi to you!
KatBos - Susan, do you see yourself writing any more romantic suspense or are you happy writing comedic romance now?
SusanA - April, are you the same april that posts on the Avon Ladies page?
april - yes
Shar - BRB!
SusanA - I don't think Avon wants to see dark rs. I like to write a variety of stuff, but truthfully the relationship aspect of my books is what most engages me
SusanA - I just love the give and take of man/woman falling in lust/love stuff. <g>
nktr411 - I had to take my doxie out
Celeste - Your romantic comedies work for me, so I'm glad you are sticking with that.
troutqueen - How depressing...I like dark rom.suspense. Not enough authors do good ones.
Janice - LOL nktr I hope you are talking about a dog.
Cissy - sounds, scandalous, nktr411!
nktr411 - yes his name is Munchie
april - I like variety also when I read, which is totally evident in my library.
dreamer1 - I've got to tell you my favorite scene in BMB is when Juliet takes off her Stockings in Beau's car I've never laughed so hard in my life. Maybe because it actually happened to me and my dh when we were traveling and he DID run off the road. Oh the memories.
Cissy - joslync, you're up followed by Janice
SusanA - I've learned that you can't please everyone everytime, tho. Some people prefer the suspense, and some prefer the comedy
Lisa M - logged on, framefree. - 12/12 at 10:14pm EST

joslync - I'm with you on that one, troutqueen!
Janice - I have a doxie named Zelda
MEP - logged on. - 12/12 at 10:15pm EST
Celeste - As you can see, Susan, there is a readership for all kinds of books. Of course, I read everything.
Celeste - Hi MEP
joslync - I haven't read any of the Baby books yet but they've been highly recommended to me by some very picky readers! Are the plots related, or just the titles?
Cissy - Welcome, Lisa! Tonight we're following a modified protocol so that Susan can keep up with all of us. To ask Susan a question just type ? (not the question). I'll keep a list of names in order and call on you when it's your turn to ask your question. If you just want to make a comment to Susan or anyone else in the room, go ahead. MEP - Hullo! hug, hug, Susan!!
Janice - I prefer the comedy
dreamer1 - hi MEP
nktr411 - I just had to put him to bed
troutqueen - Ditto here, Celeste Comedies, suspenses...
Shar - I'm starting to read everything. Of course, since I just started reading romance I've got a lot of catching up to do.
SusanA - Hi Margaret
Celeste - OMG, I bet MEP is Margaret Evan Porter - welcome.
SusanA - Hug, hug, back atcha. In a purely platonic sense, o' course <g>
Cissy - Oh *that* MEP! Hi Margaret! Glad you made it in.
Celeste - that should have been ....Evans....
dreamer1 - I like a mix of both you need the humor to break the tension.
troutqueen - Shar, you're in for a treat. You've got a few years before you start getting too jaded about romances. I'm so picky now I can't find stuff to read.
Lisa M - Tha
nktr411 - Who is that?
SusanA - Hi Lisa
Janice - Susan, are you from the Seattle area and have you heard of Celebrate Romance? (CR2000)
Shar - I really prefer paranormal romance. Comes from reading fantasy novels as a child.
Celeste - MEP is another Avon author, nktr411.
Lisa M - I
SusanA - I am from Seattle, and I just heard about CR about 10 days ago. I don't know too much about it, tho
Janice - Shar, I love the paranormals too.
april - I missed the answer... do I have to read the Baby books in order? I've only read one...
Cissy - joslync, you want to repost your question?
SusanA - MEP writes wonderful historical romance, nt
Lisa M - Hi, Thanks Cissy right now I'm just going to l
nktr411 - What is CR
SusanA - Sorry, joslync--I think it got past me
Lisa M - try and get the hang of this
KatBos - I love romantic suspense and comedy.
Marg - I wondered if you from Seattle, when I ordered Present Danger, it had a sticker stating "Local Author"
Janice - It is a convention for online readers and writers. We are meeting in Seattle this year. It would be great if you could come!
SusanA - No, the baby books don't have anything to do with each other
SusanA - Lisa, it goes by fast, doesn't it?
nktr411 - When is it?

SusanA - Hi Sara R
dreamer1 - ?
Janice - It is May 5-7
Cissy - Okay, my question is next and no one else is in line! Susan, I know you've been asked this before but do you plan to write a followup to BIY with the hero's friend (the one in the wheelchair). I thought he was definitely worthy of his own book! ]
KatBos - Hi Sara R.
dreamer1 - Hi SaraR
Celeste - Hi Sara
SaraR - hi all, sorry I am late
Janice - Hi Sara
jgoss - Hi SaraR
Cissy - Hi everyone who just came in Tonight we're following a modified protocol so that Susan can keep up with all of us. To ask Susan a question just type ? (not the question). I'll keep a list of names in order and call on you when it's your turn to ask your question. If you just want to make a comment to Susan or anyone else in the room, go ahead. You don't have to line up for that.
Marg - I agree Cissy
SusanA - I've had a lot of people ask for Gary's story, but so far a storyline for him hasn't occurred to me. Sooooo, until it does, I don't have plans
dreamer1 - I agree Cissy
Celeste - ?
Cissy - dreamer, you're up followed by Cel
SusanA - It was difficult writing about Elvis Donnell in Exposure and he only had a few scars and a missing hand. Gary's paralysis would be even more difficult, But I haven't dismissed the idea out of hand
Cissy - Think hard, Susan. He needs a story! (okay, i'll shut up now)
SusanA - I promise I have been trying to come up with something. But no luck so far
troutqueen - Elvis was definitely an interesting name choice. 'Course, I noticed it bein' in Memphis and so close to Graceland
dreamer1 - Are you going to be re-issuing On Thin Ice, Obsessed Shadow Dance or Stolen Dreams too?
SusanA - Yes, except for that last one. That's not mine.
troutqueen - Stolen Dreams??!! One that I missed?
Marg - I've always wanted to visit Graceland
SusanA - It's by a Susan J. Andersen from Canada
Cissy - Oops, now I have to talk again. Susan, my brother's paralyzed and has a very busy "social" life. If you ever need technical advice, I'll hook you up.
joslync - ?
nktr411 - I used to live in Memphis
dreamer1 - Sorry I meant to say that so my dreams come true I told you I was nervous
SusanA - Oh, and Shadow Dance isn't a definite yet. Avon has expressed an interest but we're sort of waiting until next contract time to really talk turkey
Cissy - Cel, you're up followed by joslync
Janice - I had heard there were 2 Susan Andersens
Celeste - How much influence do readers comments have on what you will write about in the future?
troutqueen - LOL Cissy. I also think that Jusine Davis did a trio on heroes with missing legs.
SusanA - Thanks, Cissy. I'll definitely keep that in mind
nktr411 - I have read Catherine Anderson
dreamer1 - My fingers don't want to work when I want to read everything that you say so I know what's next
SusanA - Not a whole lot, truthfully. Story ideas come to me as they come to me and I can only follow what pops into my head
Cissy - joslync, you're up. No one else is in line
MEP - no kidding!
dreamer1 - nktr411 I've read Catherine Anderson to but she has a different than Susan
SusanA - For instance, I'm not at all visual. I've talked to writers who see their stories unfold like a movie
joslync - Do you have a web site and if so, what's the address?
april - But you don't want ALL writers to have the same styles... all are different down to how they get their ideas.
Celeste - ?
SusanA - I wish! My characters are these amorphos beings who live in the back of my mind. Not real clear... and yet I know exactly what they look like
SusanA - Very true, April
KatBos - I have to go. Two of my children are sick. One has a temp and the other had a sore throat. Night all and Susan, keep writing those wonderful books and I'll keep buying them!
SusanA - Joslync my web addy is www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/8078/andersen.html
Cissy - Hope they feel better, KatBos. Come back soon!
Shar - Night, KatBos
Janice - Bye KatBos
Celeste - Bye KatBos

MEP - thanks! got lost. my 'first time' here
darla - do you outline before beginning writing?
rachel - logged on - 12/12 at 10:34pm EST
SusanA - Darla, yes and no. I started off as a strictly seat-of-your-pants type writer
dreamer1 - hi rachel
Celeste - Hi rachel
shell28_2000 - hi dreamer and susan and jgoss
SusanA - But to sell on proposal, you have to actually write one. <g> I credit my brainstorming partner, Caroline Cross, with teaching me how to write a synopsis
MEP - come back tomorrow, & I'll tell you! I'mlurking tonight!
jgoss - hi rachel
darla - ?
Cissy - You'll be an old pro by your chat tomorrow night, Margaret
SusanA - So now I write a synopsis. And sometimes I even come close to sticking to it.
MEP - came to support my pal Susan!
SusanA - Hi Rachel
Cissy - Cel, you're up followed by darla
shell28_2000 - hi rachel
troutqueen - Celeste, I agree...but then, Amanda Quick's single titles are even more confuing!
Celeste - LOL Susan and thanks.
troutqueen - Confusing...gosh, you'd think an english major could spell!
Cissy - lol, troutqueen. Jayne says she stopped with the one word titles when even she couldn't tell them apart
april - I know all my books, this is so embarrassing, by the cover, not title.
april - troutqueen, I was an english major also.
Cissy - darla, you're up. No one else is in line
Celeste - Typos are always allowed in the chat room. LOL
dreamer1 - Though I like the Title Baby Don't Go, I really like the Title Blondie & Me better but oh well
rachel - Hi everyone. Susan, if you write a detailed synopsis that you stick too, how do you keep from getting bored with the book?
nktr411 - logged off. - 12/12 at 10:38pm EST
Marg - Me too dreamer1
SusanA - Is this Rachel G by any chance?
dreamer1 - the publisher or whoever should let you keep the titles you choose I like them
SusanA - Me too, re the titles, but its also kinda hard to argue with Avon's sucess in marketing them
Celeste - ?
joslync has timed out.
Cissy - ?
SaraR - !
dreamer1 - Tell them to ACTUALLY TALK to us your fans and see which we perfer and not some marketing agent I think that you chose were right for the characters/book
SusanA - Darla, I try to keep a regualar work week. Mon thru fri. That sometimes workds and sometimes doesn't. I usually go to the gym/do chores in the mornings (or take a long bath) then go over yesterdays work in the early afternoon. Take a break to eat lunch/watch Guiding LIght and then buckle down to the new stuff from 3pm on
dreamer1 - ?
Cissy - Cel's up next, followed by me
Marg - I loved Guiding Light back when Dylan was on it
SusanA - Oh, man, Shell. It took me 8 years to get published. I guess I'd have to say producing day after day in the face of all those rejections
Cissy - Busted! Hi Rachel
troutqueen - Rachel Gibson of the yellow-cover book? <G>
Celeste - What do you think of the covers for most of the Avon romantic comedies - personally I love them?
Janice - I watch All My Children
april - And the pink!
MEP - I watch GL too! Religiously.
Janice - Hi Rachel
MEP - ?
Celeste - Hi Rachel and I am a big fan of yours too.
SusanA - Celeste, I really like them too. Particularly if you've ever seen some of my original Zebra covers.
april - I get star-struck too on-line.
dreamer1 - I like the covers but I would really like to see some bodacious bod on the cover LOL

Cissy - Susan, going back to your description of BABY DON'T GO, I just have to ask. How exactly does one have one's virginity "stolen?" *eg*
SusanA - Thanks for coming troutqueen
Shar - Robin, is your show on?
troutqueen - Susan, I look forward to your next book!
Celeste - Night troutqueen
SusanA - april, you shouldn't. We put on our undies one leg at a time. Well, Margarets probably a little more elegant about it, but Rachel and me......<g>

Cissy - Yes, everyone must stay for Robin's sex show!
MEP - I jump into my undies two legs at once, it's not at all elegant!
nktr411 - I think I have seen your books befor3e
rachel - Susan, did you ever count your rejections?
Shar - My dh will hate that! I said I wasn't going to bed until after that show was over.
SusanA - OK, virginity stolen was just a quickie way of saying he was her first, and then he handled the aftermath poorly
Robin - Thanks Cissy *who is now in puce for wording that last post that way* LOL
Celeste - Yes ladies, you haven't lived until you hear about the TV talk in sex show that Robin gets in Canada on Sunday nights.
SusanA - Whoa, nellie. I think I missed someithing. Sex show?
Robin - LOL Shar
Marg - Sue Johansen(sp?), Robin

SusanA - Rachel, I didn't actually count them. But there were a LOT. I wrote 3 books that will never see the light of day for very good reason. And Shadow Dance, my first published, was probably rejected 8-10 times between agents and publishers.
Cissy - Oops, did I miss shell28_2000, Lisa??
Marg - I loved Shadow Dance, I read it when it was first published
SusanA - Oooh, bless you Marg!
Celeste - ?
Susanna - - 12/12 at 10:50pm EST
Lisa M - sorry, my comp. has a mind
april - Who would be morbid enough to count their rejections? That makes it hard to concentrate on the positive.
Lisa M - sorry, my comp. has a mind
Lisa M - sorry, my comp. has a mind of its own tonightrachel,
Susanna - ?
Celeste - wb Susanna
Lisa M - sorry, my comp. has a mind of its own tonightrachel,
SaraR - Oh, cool! Susan, I met you a year ago in Seattle at the Emerald City thing when I blew my vacation money on going to see JAK and SC <G>. You were a funny lady and I ended up buying your books. Now, I understand that the book I rushed out to buy today is a re-release. So when is your next one out? What is it? And are you attending Celebrate Romance in May? Since it is in Seattle!
SusanA - there's that damn dog again! Only kidding
Lisa M - sorry, my comp. has a mind of its own tonightrachel, rachel, rachel,
SusanA - I'll see your and raise you

MEP - Hi, Cait!!
dreamer1 - hi Cait
shell28_2000 - hi cait
Cissy - Hi Cait
SaraR - The Emerald City was October 1998. So a bit over a year!
SusanA - Lisa, my next out is called Baby, Don't Go and will be out in May
nktr411 - \\hear
Cait - Emerald City is a nice conference.
april - Gosh, grammar police should just lock me up tonight.
SusanA - Hi Cait. Is this Cait london?
jgoss - Hi Cait
Cissy - dreamer, you're up followed by MEP
Cait - Yep, it is. Sorry to be late.
dreamer1 - am I next?
Janice - May! That would be perfect for CR2000 then!
Marg - Sleepless In Montana was fantastic!
SusanA - It's good to see you!
nktr411 -
Shar - Welcome, Cait! I loved the Tallchiefs! I can't wait for the new one.
dreamer1 - Susan I wanted to ask you how your family helps you when you are writing and are they an inspiration to any of the characters?
dreamer1 - Hi Cait I have all the Tallchiefs and welcome
april - Oh, I read Sleepless. It's a green book. Loved it and convinced my friend to buy it.
april - The same friend who got me reading Susan Andersen's, we like to help each other out.
Marg - ROFLMAO, Robin!!!
dreamer1 - Hi Lisa M
MEP - Susan, do you have several story ideas in your head all the time and pick one when it's time to do a new proposal?...Or do you suddenly make one up for your editor fresh 'on the spot', so to speak?
SusanA - Night, SaraR thanks for taking the time to drop by!
Cait - Night SaraR
dreamer1 - Night SaraR
Marg - The bookstores here don't have Dark Desire in yet or any of the new Avons
SusanA - I sold my first two books to two separate publisher myself, but it took me 8 years. I actually sold to Avon on my own, too....kinda. I had a definite bite, but I signed up wtih my current agent and she got me a much better deal than I could have gotten for myself
darla - katie b. just asked my question.
april - I'm finding whenever I have a question, someone asks it sooner or later.
rachel - Susan, how many agents have you had?
Cissy - Cel, you're up next followed by Susanna
SusanA - If you're writing catagory, I don't think you necessarily need an agent. But Cait could answer that one better than I
Katie B - Thank you Susan
Celeste - Susan, you have mentioned your older Zebra books that will be reissues - will will remain under the Zebra line?
Cissy - Yep
SusanA - You are soooo welcome!
darla - enquiring minds want to know, april.
Susanna - Susan - I have a couple of questions. First have you always wanted to write or did you get into it later on? and what type of jobs/careers have you held before you found your destiny so to speak?
dreamer1 - by nktr411 hope we can see you soon
SusanA - whoops. That was supposed to be ON the plus side.
nktr411 - logged off. - 12/12 at 11:07pm EST
Celeste - Can I assume that Zebra is piggy backing on your Avon success?
Susanna - Hey Stacey !
Celeste - Hi Stacey
SusanA - Susanna, I've always been a reader, and for as long as I can remember I put myself to sleep nights, writing scenarios in my head. I wrote bits and pieces, but didn't really have the life experience to draw on (or a way to express them anyhow) until I was about 30. I have been a number of things in the real world. I was an auctiion coordinator, a dental assistant, a bookkeeper for a florist and dentists and doctors. A messenger girl. You name it, i've prbobly done it. Didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up.
Celeste - ?
Stacey - Hi Everyone
Cissy - April, you're up followed by dreamer
SusanA - Celeste, yes indeed. Which is not all bad, certainly. I might actually make more than $2.98 on my backlist now. <G>
dreamer1 - Hi Stacey
Cissy - Hi Stacey
SusanA - Hi stacey
april - um... I knew this would happen... okay, give me a second.
Ann - - 12/12 at 11:11pm EST

Lisa M has timed out.
SusanA - You're such an angelic little smiley face!
Stacey - Hi Ann
Camby - logged on - 12/12 at 11:12pm EST
april - Ah, yes, here is my question... do you write what you know (as the teachers always teach, but I don't buy) or do you write what you WANT to know and live sort of vicariously? Does that even make sense?
Robin - Hi Ann
Celeste - Hi Camby
Stacey - Hi Camby
Robin - hi Camby
SusanA - Hi Camby. There's another name I recognize from the Avon ladies bb!
jgoss - Hi Ann!
Ann - Hi all! (thanks Susan -- it's the true embodiment of my inner self. But no one here will believe me *sigh*)
Ann - Hi Camby!
Susanna - Hey Ann ! Hey Camby !
Stacey - Hi Helena
dreamer1 - What was your most difficult book to write, what is your favorite and why?
jgoss - Hi Camby!
Robin - we KNOW better SusanA
Camby - Hi SusanA Wow, I'm flattered!
dreamer1 - Hi Ann, Camby and Helena
Ann - hey Helena!
Robin - hi Helena
SusanA - April, I write what I know in that my books have a strongly recurring theme of family and friends or friends as families. But I also research the stuff I don't know. (ie murder and mayhem. and ahem...sex. <G>
Helena - hi everyone
Camby - Hey all
Shar - hello, everyone!!!
shell28_2000 - if looking for a good agent what do you look for
SusanA - whoops. I think I missed something while I was typing. Cissy and Robin ???
rachel - Susan, how exactly do you research murder mayhem and ahem... sex?
Celeste - When Zebra decided to reissue your old books, are you stuck with the original contract agreement with them or are you able to renegotiate with them (hope this is not too personal)?
SusanA - My hardest book to write was Baby, Don't Go, the one that will be out in May. I call that the book that perimenopause wrote.
Janice - This is a little off topic but if anyone wants more information on CR2000 in Seattle, you can email MargieB at cr2000@lanset.com
Robin - about Ann being an Susan - we beg to be sceptical
MEP - wow, perimenopause at 25? You're a medical miracle, woman!
MEP - wow, perimenopause at 25? You're a medical miracle, woman!
SusanA - No, that's a valid question. I'm stuck with the original contract.
Cissy - Oh, you said Ann had such an angelic face. We were just warning you not to buy it. There's more underneath
Ann - Robin
SusanA - Ahhhh. Thanks for clarifying.
dreamer1 - Thanks Susan
