Sara - welcome to our monthly Desire chat with Laura Wright, Brenda Jackson and Sara Orwig. We are on protocol, so type a ? to be put in the queue. I will call on you in turn.
Sara - so, let's go to the questions!!
BadBarb - ?
Sara - moosehog has the first 2 questions (alphapeach in line)
Sara Orwig - This is the wild man who inherits his brother's baby -- babies are out of his expertise and he has to hire a nanny -- one who turns his life upside down even more than the baby
Kadine - ? for Brenda - what inspired you to create the characters in your recent Desire book - Delaney's Desert Sheikh?
Caffey - ?
moosehog - Laura , first to get this out of the way . This is one of your Fiery Tales right ? How come no where on the front or back cover it says that ? Or even in the list of books you wrote with an asterik . Did someone forget ???
Sara - We have a range of Desires to talk about tonight -- Laura Wright's BABY & THE BEAST, Brenda's DELANEY'S DESERT SHEIHK and Sara's connected books including DO YOU TAKE THIS ENEMY?
Cissy - Kadine, would you like to be put in line with your question?
Brenda Jackson - I wanted to write a different story that featured a strong heroine and to explore different cultures.
Sara - Kittycat51, mdwcalling, welcome to our monthly Desire chat with Laura Wright, Brenda Jackson and Sara Orwig. We are on protocol, so type a ? to be put in the queue. I will call on you in turn.
mdwcalling - thanks - just listening for now
Kadine - Oops, have I butted in Sara? My apologies if so.
Laura Wright - Diana, This is the first in 4 Fiery Tales book, but they didn't give me a flash on the cover...I'm just too knew yet. But in the next one, CHARMING THE PRINCE, in Feb there'll be an introduction....
Kadine - beg your pardon - that was meant for cissy
moosehog - For All of the authors ....Which of your currently to date Hero's is your favorite ? Which Heroine ? and Why ?
Sara - is okay, Kadine. just post a "?" for the next ones! We don't want to confuse the authors (or moderators)
GoddessFawn - you can take me off SAra she just answered my question
Cissy - no problem, Kadine
Sara - okay, Fawn
Sara - welcome, DMR to our Silhouette Desire chat
Laura Wright - Oh, for sure Michael and Bella from BABY AND THE BEAST. They are the most tortured, have the most to work through...I've found I'm really enjoying torturing my characters and seeing what happens - YEP, i'M SICK!
moosehog - For All of the authors ....Which of your currently to date Hero's is your favorite ? Which Heroine ? and Why ?
Brenda Jackson - Right now Jamal is my favorite hero because he is the most current one. All the men I write about are heroes to me.
GoddessFawn - @ Laura
Sara - Sara, your favorite character?
Sara - Brenda, it is good to write a hero in every male!
Sara - just my HO
Sara - humble opinion
Sara - better spell that one out
Sara -
Sara Orwig - My favorite is Josh Kellogg in the IM because he's tough, reliable, intelligent and charming. My favorite heroine is Grace Talmadge in the Jan Desire because she's a match for my wild hero, a man ladies usually melt over, but not this time
Sara - it is having a teen. I swear
Caffey - rofl
Sara - alphapeach has the next question (BadBarb, GoddessFawn, Caffey in line)
moosehog - ROLMFAO SARA
alphapeach - ? This is? I just loved Delaney's Desert Sheikh - so much so that when an editor wrote an unfavorable review (in my opinion), I sent in a review. I have really enjoyed all of your books and I'm looking forward to Sir Drake's and Christy's stories.
alphapeach - ? My question would be about Delaney
Brenda Jackson - Thank you. I had so much fun writing Delaney's story that I didn't want it to end so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Christy's story is coming in 2004.
alphapeach - Sorr - My question is about Delaney's parents - will be hearing more about them in future books?
sweetp1942 - ?
Brenda Jackson - Yes, since this was my first book, there was not a flasher on it to indicate it was the first of a 10 book series - The Westmorelands- so you will hear about other family members in future books.
moosehog - Hi Mac
GoddessFawn - hi mac
Sara - BadBarb has the next question (GoddessFawn, Caffey, sweetpea in line)
BadBarb - this is for all of the authors, how long did it take you to get published? and what did you do to celebrate when it happened?
GoddessFawn - hi hunt
mary f - Hello Mac Hello Hunt
Sara - Mac, Hunt4Me2, welcome to our monthly Desire chat with Laura Wright, Brenda Jackson and Sara Orwig. We are on protocol, so type a ? to be put in the queue. I will call on you in turn to post your question. Thank you.
BadBarb - hi hunt
Kittycat51 - ?
Hunt4Me2 - Hello everyone
Caffey - Mac
Hunt4Me2 - Hello everyone
Laura Wright - It took me 3 and 1/2 years of non-stop writing - when I got the call I went out to dinner with the hub, where he let me talk about myself and my career and my good luck for hours! Lol, a true present from a true gentleman
Mac - Hi, all
Sara Orwig - It took about a year. The family was going out to eat when I got a call from my agent saying she had sold my book. (I got an agent before I got published.) I told my family; they said congrats and let's go eat. That was it.
mdwcalling - Oh Great, I can't wait to hear more from the Westmorelands- I loved the Madaris family
moosehog - cute Laura .. what a man
moosehog - Hi Lydia
Brenda Jackson - My first book came out in 1995. Delaney's Desert Sheikh is my 15th book. Like other authors I suffered through a lot of rejection letters but each one I received made me more determined to get published. I was in NY at a RWA conference when the editor met with me to let me know she wanted to buy my book. I went back up to my hotel room, called my husband and cried.
Lydia F - Everyone
Caffey - I too want to know more about the brothers stories
Sara - and normal food, Sara?
Sara Orwig - I have always written and when I sold that first novel, I had 6 others here and a few gone because I trashed them, so I sold another one in a month.
Sara - ah, Brenda!! that is sweet!!
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Barb
Sara Orwig - Sara, probably something kin to McDonald's. The kids were hungry and I was teaching and it was just grab food and eat.
Sara - and a good thing to tell other prospectives -- keep writing while you send out manuscripts. You never know!!
Kittycat51 - ?
Sara - LOL, just wanted to make sure it was a normal life, Sara
mdwcalling - I really admire creative writers. I enjoy reading but outside of a research paper, I'm lost!
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Mary
Cissy - 2 questions, Kittycat?
Laura Wright - mmmmm, McDonalds!
Hunt4Me2 - Hello Fawn
Sara - Caffey has the next question (Caffey, sweetpea, Kittycat in line)
moosehog - Psst****LAURA ??? How's our Baby Girl doing tonight ????
alphapeach - ? To all authors - Where do you get the inspiration to write these books and interesting characrters? It must be difficult at times to get it all together - at least I know it would be for me!
Laura Wright - lol, she's kicking like crazy...trying to bruise my ribs!
moosehog - mmmmm...............WENDY
moosehog - WENDY'S
moosehog -
Caffey - Brenda, have you written Thorn and Tara's story? I got the impression at the end their book was next, and second I thought this book was more into a Temptation line. it was steamier. did you have to tone it down?
GoddessFawn - Taco Bell mmmmmmmmmmm
Sara - alpha, do you want me to put you back in line?
Sara Orwig - Inspiration -- they just dance around in my head and my imagination is enormous and I grew up with a family of story tellers.
Caffey - oops i thought i had the next question, sorry sara/cissy
alphapeach - ? yes - I apologize for that. I saw the mistake as soon as I typed it in.
Sara - no, you did, Caffey
GoddessFawn - ?????????
moosehog - I craved Frosty's From WEndy's when I was prego ..but won't eat them now
Laura Wright - For me, characters represent my own conflicts...the themes in my life that facinate me. Like for Michael Wulf, I was tormented as a kid too - not for a limp - but tortured nontheless...I like working through that and creating a caring character who challenges that side of me, yet cares and loves me too...hope that made sense
Sara - Brenda, can you answer both questions and then we will move to the next one.
Sara - and be all caught up
Caffey - Brenda, have you written Thorn and Tara's story? I got the impression at the end their book was next, and second I thought this book was more into a Temptation line. it was steamier. did you have to tone it down?
Sara - uh huh, right
GoddessFawn - I was tormented because of my name
Brenda Jackson - Yes, I've already written Thorn's story and it's just as hot as Delaney's. However, Dare's story is next and Thorn will follow. I had intended to play Dare up so the readers can be ready for his book, but somehow Thorn and Tara took over so I just went with the flow. Dare's book, A Little Dare, is due out in September 2003. We're working on a release date for Thorn and Tara's story. Originally it was for December 2003 but now it looks like it might be early 2004.
Laura Wright - Di - I swear any kind of cheeseburger, fries, shake combo is so awesome right now...it's my biggest craving!
sweetp1942 - Is there a story in the works for Jamal's parents?
Laura Wright - Fawn, see - everyone has that to pull from...and when you can empathize with a character, see youself, that rocks..yah no?
Sara - sweetpea has the next question (Kittycat, alphapeach, GoddessFawn in line)
moosehog - ROLMFAO Laura
Caffey - TY Brenda
GoddessFawn - yes Laura
Brenda Jackson - No, but they will visit America and will appear in future Westmoreland books. I had thought of a story for Jamal's sister though.
moosehog - Laura ...my other craving.....Reese's Piece's Sundae's from Friendly's ...HEAVEN
Sara - Kittycat has the next question (alphapeach, GoddessFawn in line)
Kittycat51 - I was wondering where you get ideas for books? What is your favorite food from McDonalds?
Laura Wright - stop! you're making me crazy with hunger!
Sara - okay, enough with the food!! sheesh, some of us are suffering here! y'all should be ashamed for tormenting ME!!
Lydia F - Me too. //snow
moosehog -
moosehog - //pizza
moosehog -
mary f -
moosehog -
Lydia F - Diana, I will get even with you.
GoddessFawn -
Mac -
Laura Wright - I get ideas from everywhere...the newspaper, 20/20, true stories, then I jumble them up with some great hooks I looooove Big Mac, Fries and a Vanilla shake!
Mac -
Sara Orwig - I get ideas from places we travel, from pictures, from little snippets of things that happen to people -- one book came from a quote, one from a Xmas card. Little things can trigger my imagination. This sounds like the cooking channel.
GoddessFawn - dang NOW I'm getting hungry
sweetp1942 - ?
Kadine -
Sara - no, Sara, the TORMENT channel tonight!!
moosehog - I made Sheperds pie for supper ....
Laura Wright - ooo, songs are great too...for ideas!
moosehog -
Sara - Brenda, your ideas (don't feel obligated to answer the good bit)
Hunt4Me2 - << made 2 dozen CC cookies today
Brenda Jackson - I get ideas from everywhere, too, especially old songs. I'm big into Motown and Chicago. My favorite food at McDonalds is French Fries.
GoddessFawn - Tuna cassarola at work
Sara - alphapeach has the next question (GoddessFawn, sweetp1942 in line)
Laura Wright - OKAY! You people are tormenting a pregnant lady!!
Sara Orwig - Favorite food -- I'm a potato chip junkie. Try to avoid even bringing them into the house.
Mac - Been there done that FOUR times, Laura.
Laura Wright - lol, Mac...and your name is helping
alphapeach - My question is to all authors - where do you get the inspiration for the books? Is it definite that you're going to do Jamal's sister's story? That would be good!
Mac - I can change...I have other names...Jolie suit you better
Sara - alphapeach, have a non-food question (PLEASE!!!)
Mac - it ate my ? mark on that one...
Sara - I think the inspiration part was answered, but Brenda can answer the Jamal
Sara - 's sister story
Sara - I think this is a hot one, Brenda!!
Sara - GoddessFawn has the next question (sweetp1942, Mac in line)
moosehog - on non food question
Brenda Jackson - My inspiration comes from my family. I belong to a BIG family - cousins, aunts, uncles - so I enjoy writing about books relating to family and how family is so important. No, it's no definite that I will be doing Jamal's sister's book. Right now the future books have men as the lead, Delaney's 5 brothers and her 4 male cousins.
GoddessFawn - Laura What was your favorite part in Baby and The beast
