Neither wants to fall in love because they don't know her past so they fight the fiery attraction that burns between them. Then when her memory returns, both still fight the attraction. Josh Kellogg is a man who does not want to marry. He fears he will be like his father who had six marriages and didn't know how to have a happy, long-lasting relationship. Ann K99 - //carnation
Sara - Sara O -- my question is for you. How do you manage to write in the different subgenres? From IM to westerns. I am amazed!
Sara Orwig - One more bit about ONE TOUGH COWBOY -- it is #2 in 3 books about guys in Stallion Pass, Texas. The other books are Desires.
Ann K99 - pinkrose
Ann K99 -
O - Are they brothers/
Caffey - ok, got that!
Sara Orwig - I have loved changing from contemporary to historical and back. I started with Regency romances.
ZiggyZ - ?
Sara Orwig - O -- No, not brothers, best friends
Cissy - BadBarb has the next question (moosehog, O in line)
BadBarb - Jill, are you going to do a story on Sam's partner? I think someone needs to mess him up
ZiggyZ - I thought you started with Regencies! How did you make such a big jump to westers and then contemps?
Ann K99 -
Cissy - lol, Barb
JillShalvis - BadBarb, yes, I would say Sam's partner needs a woman. A tough one who messes him up good. <g>
BadBarb - oh goodie
BadBarb -
Sara Orwig - Big imagination and I love research. I love writing because it's like reading and I love to read.
Cissy - lol, Jill - I like the way you think!
Cissy - Hi patoct Welcome to our Intimate Moments chat! We're talking to Jill Shalvis and Sara Orwig about their December Intimate Moments releases. We'll be working on protocol, so if you have questions for Jill or Sara, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (O, ZiggyZ in line)
moosehog - Psst ... Jill .... Your site is down . I ment to mention it before .
moosehog - Jill , You write for many different lines .(Blaze , Duets , Intimate Moments , Temptation.) Which series gives you the most freedom/leway ? Which is the most restrictive ? And which is the most fun for you to write for ? And are there any series that you haven't written for that you would like to write for and if so ...Which series ?
patoct - Hi all. Anyone else having a problem trying to log on?
JillShalvis - Moosehog ... are you sure about my site? I checked it earlier ...
O - That is more than one question moose
JillShalvis - Definitely Blaze has the most freedom, and the beauty about the variety of the lines is that I never get bored.
moosehog - Just tried again for you . Not working Jill .
JillShalvis - As for what I haven't written ... I always wanted to do a single title, and I just finished my first one.
moosehog - back at you O . I can't help it .My mind goes a mile a minute and I need answers .
Cissy - good lord, moose! lol - that's a lot of questions
moosehog - The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. This is what I get when I put in your web addy .
Cissy - O has the next question (ZiggyZ in line)
Mac - In Moose's defense, she does post ???????????? when she has a question instead of just one ? mark...so she has all her bases covered.....lol
Celeste - Jill's site it working - http://www.jillshalvis.com
moosehog - Cissy honey . I love you too .....DEAL WITH IT !!!!!! ...
jillshalvis - Moosehog, are you trying www.jillshalvis.com?
O - What inspried the authors to write do you hear vocies
moosehog - Nope . Not for me . Even clicking the link.
moosehog - yep .
moosehog - THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT MAC . THAT IS SOOOO TRUE .
Sara Orwig - Inspiration -- I write because it's an extension of reading.
Cissy - moose, Jill's site is in the process of being moved. It may not be working everywhere
shey - worked for me Moose
Delyn - Site worked fine for me.
Sara Orwig - The only voices I've heard were my kids wanting to eat. They're grown now, but they weren't when I started.
Sara - you wrote for food, Sara?
Cissy - lol, Sara
moosehog - Cissy . That would explain it . Thanks for the info . I just called my brother on the cell and he couldn't either . Both live in MAss .
Sara - and do they ever stop talking? the children?
Sara - or call when you are busy? hmmm
Celeste - Cissy, I just went to Jill's site and it loads find
Celeste - oops...fine
Cissy - ZiggyZ has the next question (no one in line)
Sara Orwig - I'm compulsive about writing. Have written all my life.
Mary f - WB Jill
jillshalvis - Okay I think I'm back. Shesh. Been kicked off twice.
O - How long have you been writing
moosehog - QUICK SIDE NOTE ......................JILL , your cover for AFTERSHOCK has got to be one of the most spectacular covers I have ever seen .
O -
jillshalvis - I'm like Sara. Absolutely compulsive about writing. Always have been.
Cissy - Hi to those coming in Welcome to our Intimate Moments chat! We're talking to Jill Shalvis and Sara Orwig about their December Intimate Moments releases. We'll be working on protocol, so if you have questions for Jill or Sara, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Sara Orwig - Don't know who O's question is directed to, but I've been writing forever. First book published eons ago. First contemporary romance was a Second Chance in 1981
jillshalvis - Thanks Moosehog, the cover gods blessed Aftershock, no doubt.
ZiggyZ - Sara & Jill, will be spending winter if FL beginning January. Will either or both of you be in the Tampa area about that time??
jillshalvis - I would LOVE to be in Florida in Jan, but don't see that happening. <g>
Sara Orwig - How I wish! I'd love to be in Florida, but no such luck.
moosehog - I am going to hit the hay . Didn't get a lot of sleep with being nervous about court today . And it was a long , draining and emotional day . A terrific day and outcome but still wore me out .
Ann K99 - bye Diana
jillshalvis - Did we decide my website is up and running okay?
moosehog - So I am going to say Bye and see you all tomorrow night .
Mary f - night Moose!
moosehog - Not here Jill but in other places yes .
jillshalvis - night!
Sara Orwig - Goodbye, moosehog.
moosehog - Cissy said maybe not in all places because it is being moved .
Celeste - yes, Jill, it is up and running
Delyn - Night Moose.
moosehog - bye to all my friends from the
jillshalvis - Okay, thanks! And thanks for coming.
Cissy - O has the next question
Ann K99 - have a drink
Cissy - most everyone here can get to it fine, Jill
ZiggyZ - Bye, Moose and congrats!
O - So both Sara and jill just wirte congpt?
O - Comptemary
jillshalvis - I write just contemporary.
BadBarb - O you havent read Jill yet?
Cissy - contemporary, O?
O - yes thanks
Sara Orwig - I'm only writing contemporaries now
Cissy - Badbarb has the next question (Cissy in line)
O - What have you written before ?
BadBarb - hi ann!! sorry didnt see you come in
O -
BadBarb - Jill, how much research did you do on identity theft rings?
ZiggyZ - Sara, do you prefer the contemporaries?
Sara Orwig - I've written historicals, Regencies, novellas, short and long contemporaries
O - i don't think so Barb
jillshalvis - I searched the net and read a bunch of articles. Interviewed a friend who's a cop. Read genuine cases. It fascinated me.
Sara Orwig - I love whatever time period I'm writing
BadBarb - O get yourself to a bookstore or Walmart
BadBarb - Jill is one of my autobuys
jillshalvis - Thank you Barb!
ZiggyZ - One of the reasons I started reading IMs was the suspense. More importantly, I follow the authors I like regardless of the genre.
Cissy - Cissy has the next question (O in line)
Mary f - Sounds like fascinating research Jill
Cissy - Jill and Sara, can you each tell us about your favorite scene from your new book?
Sara Orwig - I like suspense, too. I'm a mystery fan, too.
BadBarb - I know my fav scene!!! the front seat of the truck
Mary f - LMAO Barb
jillshalvis - Mine is definitely when Sam, a hardened cop, realizes not only is Angie in the grips of a mad man, but also that he loves her.
Sara Orwig - More cut and pasting from me. Be patient with this. This is from a scene later in the book between Laurie & Josh.
ZiggyZ - Did you start with Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden? I'm telling my age here! (g)
jillshalvis - LOL Barb! Yeah, the front seat of the truck is second.
Mary f - Hello Spin
spin - hi all
Cissy - sounds like an intense moment, Jill
BadBarb - that was good too
BadBarb - I liked Trixie better then Nancy
Sara Orwig - Seduction scene in which Laurie tries to break through the barriers around Josh's heart, to make him want to continue their relationship instead of saying goodbye when and if the danger is gone. She cooks for him, dances with him, loves him, trying to reach the innermost part of the tough cowboy she has fallen in love with.
BadBarb - Cissy, it was an emotionally draining moment for Sam
shey - sounds like my sort of reading as a kid Ziggy...add the Famous Five and Secret Seven
Cissy - oh wow, Sara - sounds wonderful
jillshalvis - Sounds good, Sara.
Ann K99 -
Ann K99 -
Cissy - O has the next question (no one in line)
O - What do you both want to try to write that you han't yet?
Sara - ?
BadBarb - ?
jillshalvis - O, I just want to keep writing. <g>
Sara Orwig - I'd love to write a straight mystery, but know I never will because romance always becomes strong in my books
Cissy - there's always room for a bit of romance in a book, Sara
Cissy - Sara has the next question (BadBarb in line)
Sara - for both authors -- what would you say was either your hero or heroine's worst characteristic and how did that play into the story?
Sara - ?
ZiggyZ - But that takes back seat in a straight mystery, don't you think?
jillshalvis - My heroine has a terrible habit of thinking she can solve anything, including Sam's cases. She has no sense of ... well, being wrong. <g>
Sara Orwig - Josh's worst characteristic is shutting himself off emotionally because he's afraid of total commitment. He's had 5 stepmothers and watched his father go through the upheaval of all those marriages.
Cissy - lol, Jill
Sara - oh, that is FOR SURE, Jill. And she tries SO HARD
BadBarb - I liked that though, I thought it was funny when she tried to solve Sams case
BadBarb - what about when she tries some decorating tips for Sams office?
Sara Orwig - Jill, I'll have to get your book -- as soon as this ice melts. We're having a big ice storm.
Sara - wow, five step-mothers!!!
BadBarb - where do you live Sara O?
Sara - see, Cissy, three isn't so bad after all!
Cissy - lol, Sara
Sara - oh, yes, Barb, that was a good scene too!
Cissy - BadBarb has the next question (Sara in line)
Sara - it was her way of helping him!
Sara Orwig - I live in Oklahoma. It was 70 yesterday. In 20's tonight.
BadBarb - can you guys tell us what you are currently working on
Sara - you had to "feel" for him!
O -
BadBarb - really? I have a sister that lives in Oklahoma
jillshalvis - I just turned in my first single title. THE STREET WHERE SHE LIVES, 10/03.
Mac - About the same here in Arkansas.....stupid ice could go somewhere else.
jillshalvis - And now it's back to another Temptation, a series called American Heroes, with Lori Foster and Donna Kauffman.
BadBarb - single title?? its about time!!!
Mary f - YAY Jill!
Sara Orwig - I'm writing another Texas Cattleman's Club book, Assignment Baby. It is Book 1 in the Stolen Baby series that will be out in 2003
Cissy - Sara has the next question (O in line)
Sara - well, you told us the worst, now how about the best! What quality makes your characters really sparkle and come off the pages?
Sara - I know that every book has at least one (and usually more) that really take charge and seem so "real"
Sara - tell us about yours in these December books
Sara Orwig - Deep down, Josh is a charmer. Patience -- I'm going to cut and paste again -- here's a tiny bit of him.
BadBarb -
Cissy -
Cissy - lol, tough quesion, Sara!
O - wb
Cissy - welcome back, Jill!
Sara - yes, tough is my middle name
jillshalvis - My computer is NOT my friend tonight.
shey - LOL Sara
Cissy - poor Jill
Cissy - you laugh, shey, but it really is!
Sara - were you talking mean to it, Jill? remember, computers are sensitive
jillshalvis - My computer is going to be tossed out the window if she doesn't behave. <g>
Cissy - Jill, did you see Sara's question?
Ann K99 - //e-mail
Ann K99 - //computer
ZiggyZ - Don't you mean "he?" lol
Sara - ah, mine are all men -- contrary beasts, with digi chips
jillshalvis - Well I'm trying to stall, Cissy. Shh, don't tell.
Mary f -
Cissy - lol, jill
jillshalvis - Okay, best quality? I'd have to say Sam, when he loves, he does it with his entire heart, unconditionally. He, of course, would not consider this a good quality.
Sara - oops! now, what did I do?
Cissy - oops, Sara got bumped too?
Mac - //bomb
Ann K99 - //puter
Mac - oops , even
Cissy - Sara, look what your question did!
Sara Orwig - I got disconnected. Sorry. Back to that last question.
Sara - I just want to know what is the best of your characters! we heard the "worst"
Sara Orwig - "Yeah, right. I'll show you how scared," he said, and her heart thudded. He slid an arm around her waist, yanked her against him and leaned forward to kiss her hard, opening her mouth, kissing her with a force and hunger that made her forget the discovery of her identity, made her forget the past and future, the plans she had just made, the excitement she felt. Everything vanished, consumed in a kiss that possessed and seduced and shattered every thought in her head. How could anyone want her this much? Her pulse galloped and she turned to mush, melting, changing, transforming into a woman in need. His kiss laid claim to her in a way none of his kisses before had. It was the kiss of a fierce warrior returning from battle to his woman, the kiss of a hungry lover ready for seduction. It was the kiss of a lifetime, and she trembled, returning his kiss.
Sara - it threw them both out? didn't mean to do that!
Mac - grrr....ok, now the room is eating posts.
Mac -
Sara - wow, that is a wonderful paragraph, Sara O! see, Oliveria you MUST read Sara Orwig!!
O - That is some hot kiss
Cissy - oh yum, Sara - what a wonderful hero
jillshalvis - Beautifully written, Sara!
Ann K99 -
Sara Orwig - Thanks for the nice remarks. Sara, you didn't do it. My family did. We just have one line for this.
Mary f - I think they're both new to me as well
Cissy - O has the next question
Sara - gotta grab these ladies, well, their books.
Sara - you won't be disappointed!
O - Sorry got knocked out do you both have websits
jillshalvis - I'm sorry, but my kids have been running wild. I need to get them off the ceiling and into bed. <g>
Sara - well, we are done really
jillshalvis - Yes, mine is www.jillshalvis.com
