Cissy - Welcome to the Silhouette Desire authors chat! We're talking tonight with Kathie Denosky about her November release, A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING. We're working on protocol, so if you have questions for Kathie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Mac - Hi, Hunt
Marilyn_P - Don't ask me what happened brendal has timed out.
Kathie D - I'm not sure, Diana.
OL -
Marilyn_P - ?
Kathie D - Hunt and Mac.
Mac - , Right back at ya, Kathie.
moosehog - Kathie ...how big of an adjustment was it for you to go from being the Nekkid cowboy queen to writing the Connelly book and A lawman ?? And are there any plans of spreading out and doing something even more different in the future ??
Kathie D - The nekkid sheriff and I are ready and waiting. //
Cissy - moosehog, hang on! I haven't called on you yet
moosehog - Kids are yelling Goodnight Kathie .
Marilyn_P - Diana is always so eager <G>
Cissy - Kathie, before we go on to Q&A (glaring at moose), will you tell us about A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING?
Mac - lol
Caffey - moosehog knows how to ask great questions!
moosehog - Cissy . I was soooo excited that I was suffering from Premature E .....
Kathie D - Good question, Diana. The Connelly book was a real stretch for me. I'd never done a "city" book before. But the sheriff in A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING was easy because it's small town life. And I do know a lot about that.
Kathie D - Goodnight, A & A. Hugs.
moosehog - Kathie has the power to do that to me you know ....But don't tell hubby .VBG
Marilyn_P - Diana is in trouble. Diana is in trouble.
Kathie D - A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING is about a small town in southwest Texas where the men have reigned supreme for the last 150 years. But when Brenna Montgomery moves to town all that changes. And Dylan Chandler, the town sheriff finds himself caught in the middle of a battle of the sexes.
Hunt4Me2 - hello everyone
Hunt4Me2 - hello Mac
moosehog - Marilyn ... //tongue I don't think so .... Cissy would be lost without me around to liven things up .
Kathie D - Hunt
Cissy - Hi Hunt4Me2 Welcome to the Silhouette Desire authors chat! We're talking tonight with Kathie Denosky about her November release, A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING. We're working on protocol, so if you have questions for Kathie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Marilyn_P - Dylan? I thought his name was Dillard or Darwin or Studly.
Kathie D - LOL Yeah, Granny can't quite get it straight, can she?
Caffey - lol Kathie!
moosehog - Marilyn...how about TDarwin's Studly Dillard
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (moosehog, O, Marilyn in line)
Marilyn_P - I think Studly Doright is a good name for a sheriff
moosehog - Darwin's Studly Dillard .
moosehog - Question #2 ...Kathie ... how likely is it that you will ever have a single title out ? Why or why not ?And is there anything that you haven't managed to accomplish in your field that you Desire you could do ?
Kathie D - That's something else too. Brenna and Dylan have two elderly relatives playing matchmaker during all of this.
romanticbkwrm - I agree Marilyn
Kathie D - That's a good question, moose. I've thought about a single title, but I've been so busy lately that's all it is--a thought. By the end of the year, I will have written 4 books and a novella for this year alone. I have two more that I have to write by April or May.
Caffey - very busy!
Cissy - Hi jeff Welcome to the Silhouette Desire authors chat! We're talking tonight with Kathie Denosky about her November release, A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING. We're working on protocol, so if you have questions for Kathie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (O, Marilyn in line)
moosehog - How much of your writing is you working alone and how much is bouncing ideas between your friends and Charlie ?? And has Charlie ever given you any really exciting ideas for a story (not the sex scenes ladies...get your minds out of the gutter for a moment ) But as a storyline plot ? Who has been the most influential person to help you tackle and realize your dreams ?
Kathie D - Sleep is probably the one thing that I haven't accomplished since I sold my first book to Desire.
Hunt4Me2 - well i gotta get i'll never finsih all this maile
moosehog - Kathie . we aren't even going there . Denise gets mad at you enough as it is about the lack of sleep you have .
SIMPSON - .....gotta run now.....NIGHT!
moosehog - How much of your writing is you working alone and how much is bouncing ideas between your friends and Charlie ?? And has Charlie ever given you any really exciting ideas for a story (not the sex scenes ladies...get your minds out of the gutter for a moment ) But as a storyline plot ? Who has been the most influential person to help you tackle and realize your dreams ?
Caffey - do you need some for that question Kathie
moosehog - Caffey . I don't want to be too easy on my friend Kathie here .
Kathie D - Wow! You put some thought into that, moose. I bounce ideas off of my critique partners, Belinda Barnes and Roxann Delaney, but not Charlie.
romanticbkwrm - Kathie were you an overnight success or a long time in the waiting for that 1st sale?
Kathie D - I think the most influential person in my career would have to be Jenna McKnight. She used to write for American.
Kathie D - Thanks for stopping by Hunt.
moosehog - Kathie ...after all this time you should no better than to think I don't sit here thinking of interesting questions that I want the answers to .
moosehog - NEXT ???
Cissy - O has the next question (Marilyn, moosehog in line)
Kathie D - It took 8 years to sell my first book. I'd sold 4 before the first one came out. I think I was an overnight success in 8 long years.
Marilyn_P - ?
moosehog - No ! NO! NO ! white out ....No not when Kathie is chatting .....URGH !!!!
romanticbkwrm - thks Kathie. sorry Moose for forgetting my chat protocol! Ooops!
Cissy - O, your question?
Caffey - romanticbkwrm...cissy's the boss not moosehog
Kathie D - Not a problem, romantic.
Cissy - Caffey, you can see where she'd get confused
romanticbkwrm - //smile
romanticbkwrm - arghhh!
moosehog - Boss ?? Who's the boss?? Sure as heck ain't me ...I am just the question lady
OL - What do you want to write that you han't written before
Kathie D - Murder and mayhem would be something I haven't written.
Caffey - Kathie
Caffey - well you could write a western of one Kathie
Marilyn_P - I guess that means Brenna doesn't kill her Granny by the end of this book?
Kathie D - I really would like to tackle a romantic suspense, but whatdaya wanna bet it would have something off the wall in it that people would find humorous?
moosehog - Cissy is the
Cissy - Marilyn has the next question (moosehog, Marilyn in line)
OL -
Kathie D - No, Marilyn. But she'd sure like to sometimes.
Marilyn_P - Speaking of Granny... Were Granny and Pete always planned to be such pivotal characters? Or did they take on a life of their own as the book progressed?
romanticbkwrm - gotta run....hubby just got called in to work....have to assume parenal position whaaaaaa.........
moosehog - ***Reminder *** only 42 shopping days til
Kathie D - Actually, they were planned to play a pivotal role in the book.
romanticbkwrm - ack! parental
Caffey - have fun Romantic.. glad you were here!
Kathie D - Thank you for stopping by romantic. Great chatting with you.
Marilyn_P - They are both just so darned cute -- it's hard to stay mad at them for all there meddling
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (Marilyn, O in line)
Caffey - and i haven't even started
moosehog - Kathie ...before you started writing did you ever have a day job and what was it ? And how come you haven't gotten around to writing a romance about ....a postal worker ?????(Tell Charlie I am pulling for him to have a postal romance...VBG. )
moosehog - I am 90% done ..... or ????
Caffey - here's a Kathie
Kathie D - Yeah, they were fun characters, especially Granny.
Kathie D - Thanks, Caffey. I could use that drink. To answer your question, moose, I used to be a Folk Art teacher and worked in a craft shop. At one time I even owned my own craft shop.
Caffey - and then a to help more
Marilyn_P - For real, Kathie???
OL - What does a Folk Art Teacher do?
Caffey - cool, i used to love to do ceramics!
moosehog - I love doing Crafts ...Marilyn ....take note and schedule a craft making session at our get together .
Cissy - Marilyn has the next question (O in line)
Caffey - folk art like totem poles?
Kathie D - As for writing about a postal worker, I hadn't thought about it. Can you imagine all the jokes about the heroine and the mailman? It might be something to consider.
Mac -
moosehog - Yeah ....Kathie loves to Tote Em those Poles ....VBG.
Kathie D - Yep, for real. If I wasn't a romance author, I'd probably be painting and doing all sorts of crafts right now.
Marilyn_P - I've read that over 50% of paperbacks sold are romance fiction. And I've also heard derogatory remarks made (uncalled for IMHO) about romance novels. Has anyone ever commented negatively to you about your career? If so, what was your reply?
Caffey - rofl
moosehog - Lust In The Mailroom is a great title .
Mac - Post office..**shudder**....I'm still over that, and it's been a week already.
Marilyn_P - Gives new meaning to "going postal"
Caffey - you got mail...you got male
Kathie D - I taught Tole painting and basket weaving, and all kinds of needlework. Oh, and tin punch.
moosehog - Don't even go there Marilyn . Those idiots at AAR don't know what they are talking about .
Caffey - theres a title for you kathie
moosehog - WHITE OUT !! . I Hate it when that happens
OL - Where do you live Kathie
Cissy - Hi Tammie Welcome to the Silhouette Desire authors chat! We're talking tonight with Kathie Denosky about her November release, A LAWMAN IN HER STOCKING. We're working on protocol, so if you have questions for Kathie, just type ? and I'll call on you in turn.
Cissy - O has the next question (no one in line)
Kathie D - Actually, I've had very little negative remarks made to me. Some look at me like "you've got to be kidding. She doesn't look that smart." But no negative comments.
Marilyn_P - Did Kathie see my question?
moosehog - Hi Tammie Clarke Gibbs
Mac - HI, Tammie
Marilyn_P - ok....she saw it
OL - Where do you live Kathie
Tammie Clarke Gibbs - Thanks! Hi Kathie...Long Time!
Marilyn_P - ?
moosehog - ILLINOIS
Kathie D - Sorry, you've had a bad experience with the PO, Mac.
Caffey - i think Kathie stepped out to get the mail
Mac - It took 3 days, 2 sides of the state, 180 miles, 2 people (me and my dad at seperate times) and 5 post offices to mail my chapters to Harl.
Tammie Clarke Gibbs - Hi Everyone!
moosehog - MAC ?? MAC I didn't see you on your Scarlet Boa ranking .Way to go .
Kathie D - I live in southern Illinois. About 50 miles north of Paducah, KY.
Mac - I havne't been near a PO since.
Caffey - Hi Mac!!!
Cissy - Marilyn has the next question (no one in line)
Kathie D - Hey, Tammy! Long time no see.
Kathie D -
Mac - Ty, Moose....I've been here for nearly an hour...
OL -
Marilyn_P - Given how much I love the Smoky Mountains, will we ever see a return to Dixie Ridge, site of "His Baby Surprise"?
moosehog - Is that a hint Cissy ???
Caffey - harlequin is 2 miles from me. you could of mailed them to me Mac and i'd bring them to them
Mac - The office in London...that's why it took so long...no one around here seems to do international postage...go figure.
moosehog - Caffey ... You could of walked them over at that rate .VBG
Mac - LOL
Kathie D - Yes, Marilyn. The senior editor and I talked about Dixie Ridge when we were in Denver and she encouraged me to write more books set there. It seems a lot of people fell in love with that little mountain town.
Cissy - O has the next question (moosehog in line)
moosehog - ...Great Kathie
Marilyn_P - Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Caffey - love those mountains!
Mac - That's the book I just read of yours, Kathie...loved it..have all buy one and the new one...and the youngest spilled soda on one of them...
OL - Kathie who do you like to read when you have the chance
Marilyn_P - moosehog, Who is Mac?moosehog,
Mac - oops...all BUT one, that is.
moosehog - Psst Kathie ... Diana , Marilyn and Cathie make great heroine names for when you revisit the mountains....
Kathie D - I'm sure we'll get to see how Ty and Lexi are doing along the way.
Mac - Geek's computer keyboard dislikes me...it eats letters and replaces them with new ones..
Caffey - Cathie or Caffey.... psst
moosehog - Mac is an aspiring writer who Harlequin has requested chapters from . And she just finaled in the Scarlet Boa contest.
Caffey - Mac!!
moosehog - Sure Heather ...Blame it on the computer ..LMAO
Mac - Ty
Mac - I try
Mac - It really is..and the laptop...we don't even want to go there.
Marilyn_P -
Kathie D - I'm sorry your books got soda on them Mac. O, when I do get the chance to read I love Johanna Lindsey, Leanne Banks, Ann Marie Winston, Jayne Ann Krentz, all of my fellow Dizty Chix.....the list goes on and on.
moosehog - Marilyn...what's the matter ???
Cissy - moosehog has the next question (no one in line)
Marilyn_P - I'm multitasking and have too many windows open and can't keep them straight
Kathie D - I'll remember the name thing, moose.
Mac - Ian went crazy in his walker and knocked the whole table over...I nearly cried....ask Geek, he'll tell ya.
Marilyn_P - and my dh is bellowing from upstairs
Kathie D - Congratulations, Mac!
Caffey - whats bellowing mean? stomach making noises?
moosehog - Kathie ... you do the continuity's and you do them so well ....what do you think about doing a continuity that jumps lines ...IE: A desire from one author , A Blaze from another , A duets from another ,ect ,ect ,ect ...and would you be willing to do it or not ?
Mac - Ty...I am soooo hoping they ask for a full.
Marilyn_P - yelling, hollering,
moosehog - Yelling Caffey
Kathie D - Men! Ya gotta love 'em.
moosehog - says who Kathie ?
Caffey - never a problem for me M
Marilyn_P - Men.....can't shoot 'em.
moosehog - since I don't know if she saw the question....Kathie ... you do the continuity's and you do them so well ....what do you think about doing a continuity that jumps lines ...IE: A desire from one author , A Blaze from another , A duets from another ,ect ,ect ,ect ...and would you be willing to do it or not ?
Marilyn_P - and for the past 24 years I've been the minority in a fraternity -- hubby and two sons
Caffey - ooohh Kathie writing a Blaze
Kathie D - Sure, I'd love to do a continuity that jumps lines. I'm sort of doing that with the book coming out in the summer. The original Lone Star Country Club were single titles, but the sequel I worked on is Desire.
Mac - Ain't that the truth...and mine's been begging me to shoot him all week...**sigh** just can't seem to bring myself to do such a thing to him.
Caffey - you got us Marilyn
moosehog - rolmfao @ Caffey being a wise
Marilyn_P - Kathie already writes some of the "hotter" Desires. I can't imagine how we'd read a Blaze by her without wearing asbestos gloves
Caffey - lol, so true M!
Kathie D - Oh, and just for the record, the hero in the July book isn't a nekkid cowboy either. He's a nekkid ATF guy.
Caffey - Cowboy Boss...Roof....many good scenes!
moosehog - I don't know if Kathie could write blaze with a straight face with Charlie around ....VBG
Cissy - moosehog has the last question
Caffey - ATF? Another Tough Fellow?
moosehog - Who likes to whip his 9mm out right Kathie ?
Kathie D - You know I never really thought of myself as writing hot books.
Marilyn_P - I see a pattern here -- nekkid this, nekkid that, nekkid something-or-other
Caffey - lol
moosehog - Kathie ..... how many books have you sold ? Not books but volume ...1,000,000 copies ect ...
Kathie D - Let's just say he has the dangest time trying to find a place to holster his pistol, Diana.
Cissy - lol, Marilyn
OL - What won't you write Kathie
moosehog - As long as we aren't nekkid that is o.k.
Caffey - Kathie
Marilyn_P - ohhhhh,,, good question, O.
moosehog - well ...you know kathie ....I'd be willing to give him a place to rest his pistol any time he wants .
Kathie D - I'm not sure, moose. I really never stopped to count. I know they've been translated into about 15 different languages and I'm having the devil of a time figuring out if those Japanese versions really say Kathie DeNosky on the cover.
moosehog - about the covers
Kathie D - I probably won't ever write erotica. Not that I have anything against it, but I doubt I could keep the emotion down. And the focus isn't the emotion in one of those.
Kathie D - moose.
Cissy - Kathie, thanks so much for a great chat!
Cissy - As always
Kathie D - Cissy, I have a question.
Cissy - shoot, Kathie
Kathie D - Could we give away a book?
Caffey - i had a fabulous time. lots of laughs, thank you for that Kathie and you too moosehog,Marilyn Mac
moosehog - I read hubby a sex scene from a blaze today and he turned beat read . about 10 minutes later he said to me ....holy crap ... you were reading that last night before bed weren't you ??? That is why you came in and woke me by attacking me at 2am ....ROLMFAO because he was right .
Kathie D - Thanks for joining us, Caffey.
