Tiggedy2 - Hi Kay, my
name is Lisa. I am new to reading your books. At this time I am reading
Steaking Shadows and it is great! Which of your names are your paranormal
books written under?
Cissy - Tipai, you're
next (CSailor, Sherryl, Jay, spin, Tiggedy2, Tasha, Katd1d are in line)
Mari - When they
do I'll be in Heaven!
Tipai - hello Kay
I Love your books. I know when writing a lot of research does go into a
book where did you turn for the information about clairavoyance<sp>
and how much did you take as a literary license?
Tiggedy2 - Sorry,
I had that typed......but I didn't enter it!
Tiggedy2 - I just
had it waiting!!
psg - LOL
Tipai - hahhahahaa
tiggedy thats funny
KayH - Tipai, virtually
all my "psychic mythology" in the trilogy is a product of the reading I've
done all my life -- and my speculations -- but no formal research. It's
a novel, after all. <G>
Tasha - Your Summer
of the Unicorn was my favorite--that genre does not seem to be as popular
as it once was. Do you have to write what is commercial, or what interests
you the most?
Tiggedy2 - And then
I spell Stealing wrong. Oh my.
psg - ?
Tasha - (I guess
we can't type our questions ahead)
Tipai - Ok thanks...
KayH - Tasha, I always
follow my nose -- write what interests me.
CSailor - Actually,
"Steaking Shadows" sounds something like a vampire novel...
Tiggedy2 - Don't
do it Tasha!!!
Jay - Gotta watch
them shadows - they bite!
Tiggedy2 - LOL CSailor
Tipai - lhhahahhaa
csailor
Tiggedy2 - ROFLPMP
Jay.
Cissy - CSailor,
Sherryl, Jay, spin, Tiggedy2, Tasha, psg
Tiggedy2 - I am embarrassd
now.
Tipai - ?
JL - ?
CSailor - Okay, 2
questions: 1) are you going to do sequels to your mysteries (House of Cards,
Crime of Passion)? 2) Is Bishop in any way influenced by the character
in the X-Men comics?
Jay - *breathing
into paper bag, suspension in chair gone*
Mari - ?
SandraW - ?
CSailor - maybe I
should just do regular smileys in brackets or something...
KayH - Sailor, the
Lane Montana series is definitely not finished; still have stories about
her in my head. And, no, Bishop came totally out of my head; I hadn't even
experienced the X-men stories until the movie this summer.
spin - hang in there
Jay u'r nearly there
Cissy - Sherryl is
up (Jay, spin, Tiggedy2, Tasha, psg, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW are in line)
Marty937 - Ladies,
I've got to leave now. It has been a pleasure. Kay, thank you so much for
coming to visit us here. I'm looking forward to the other 2 books in the
SHADOWS series.
CSailor - I didn't
think Bishop was connected--just thought it was curious that there are
at least two paranormal-talented Bishops out there... <g>
cindy - ?
Sherryl - Kay, being
the old lady of the group, I can honestly say I am a fan from way back....To
have not one Kay Hooper, but three Kay Hooper books in a row is such a
treat....
KayH - Thanks, Sherryl!
We hoped the readers would be happy about that. <G>
Cissy - Jay, is up
next (spin, Tiggedy2, Tasha, psg, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy are in
line)
Jay - Can I? Huh?
Huh? Can I?
Mari - Readers are
jubulant! (sp)
Sherryl - Finding
Laura, Amanda, After Caroline and Haunting Rachel are all on my keeper
shelf....Then comes Stealing Shadows...a powerful book...
CSailor - readers
are *very* happy about that, Kay! ^_^
Tipai - well I loved
it that they decided to NOT make us wait
CSailor - did Sherryl
ask her question? or is she prolonging Jay's torture? ^_-
Jay - Okay, here
goes - how long did it take to write the Delaney series, and have you considered
re-releasing them? Also, do you know when the Stealing Shadows series is
going to be released in Australia? And also - I LOVE your books!
)
SandraW - Didn't
Jay volunteer to give her turn to me? <ducking>
Sherryl - I am just
commenting my little heart out...no ??? at this time...lol
Tipai - hahhahahha
Jay - Too Late!
Sherryl - and what's
more....Jay loves torture....huh Jay?
Jay - Ooooh, bring
on the gerbils!
CSailor - gerbils?
I'm not sure I want to know... :\
Sherryl - lol
KayH - Glad to hear
it, Jay! As for the Delaney series, each "set" of books took a different
abount of time, spread out over about three or four years, as I recall.
I'd love to see them reprinted; that's Bantam's call, not mine. And Stealing
Shadows should actually be out in Australia -- I think.
Jay - Sorry - unrelated
joke - use your imagination!
Cissy - spin is next
(tiggedy2, Tasha, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy in line)
Tipai - csailor no
you dont!!! LOL
CSailor - that's
what I'm afraid of, Jay!
Jay - I looked, Kay
and they don't even have a listing for it!
KayH - The Richard
Gere gerbil joke? <G>
spin - thanks for
the enjoyable reading Kay and please hurry the publishers on the reprinting
and how soon after SS will the next ones be published
CSailor - actually,
that should be a
KayH - Sorry, Jay.
It was just a guess on my part. Could you order it through Amazon?
Sherryl - ?
psg - hey you left
out me!! i'm after tipai....i think
Jay - *grin* Something
like that!
Cissy - spin, you're
next (Tiggedy2, Tasha, psg, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy, Sherryl are
in line)
KayH - Spin, Hiding
in the Shadows comes out next week; Out of the Shadows comes out the week
of Oct. 31.
CSailor - I hope
they rerelease the Delaneys--my copies are getting in bad shape. *sigh*
Tipai - wow...yahoo!!!
doing a little jig...on that one
Camby - I need to
get going. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Kay!
cindy - Wow, that's
fast!!!
Cissy - Tiggedy2,
you're next (Tasha, psg, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy, Sherryl are in
line)
spin - great add
a couple of months and they'll all be here for christmas - jumping in the
street
Tipai - I was so
excited about Kay being here I forgot my latte and now its cold...YUCK
Jay - CSailor - it
took me 7 years to get the whole collection - but I did it! *grinning proudly*
CSailor - cool--the
last one comes out on Halloween!
Sara - nuke it Tipai
Tiggedy2 - I will
try this again. Hi Kay, my name is Lisa and I am new to your books. I am
reading Stealing Shadows and I am enjoying it. Which of your names do you
use for most of your paranomal writing? And if I mailed you a copy of one
of your books, with postage inclued, would you autograph it? Thanks.
Tipai - LOL sara
its downstairs and I might miss something....
Tiggedy2 - And please
forgive the typos.
Sara - true, true!!
you might!
KayH - Hi, Lisa.
The only name I use is the Kay Hooper one; I used Kay Robbins for about
eight books years ago, but don't use a pen name now.
CSailor - well, I
don't have *all* of the Delaneys--mostly just Kay's stuff. ^_^
SandraW - Didn't
you volunteer to give me your turn, Tipai? <g>
Sherryl - nope...Mari...still
here
KayH - And, sure.
My web site has the PO box; just send it there, and I'd be happy to sign
and return.
Cissy - Tasha is
up next (psg, Tipai, JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy, Sherryl are in line)
Jay - I got all 14
of them!
Tipai - LOL that
was psg
Tasha - Thanks, my
question was already asked and answered. Next?
CSailor - I think
I have all of the contemporary Delaneys, but decided to get only Kay's
ones for the historicals...
Tiggedy2 - Great
Kay!!!!! Thank you. I have to run all. Goodnight and Love.
JenWagner - Kay's
is so great. When I told her one of my favorites of hers, IF THERE BE DRAGONS,
was falling apart, she sent me a new one!! Can you believe that?!?! I keep
it on a special shelf now. <G>
KayH - Hey, Jen!
psg - i loved how
the town in Stealing Shadows didn't kill the dogs and cats in the pound.
is that something they do in your town??
Tipai - wow Jen thats
great!!!
Celeste - Hi Helena
JenWagner - Hi Kay!
<waving> Couldn't miss your talk.
Katd1d - If There
Be Dragons is a FUN book
KayH - psg, that
was wishful thinking on my part. Though my local humane society is no-kill.
CSailor - I thought
that the pound didn't kill the *healthy* ones.
Cissy - Tipai is
up next (JL, Mari, SandraW, cindy, Sherryl are in line)
psg - the dogs were
all great. i love animals in a story
Jay - We have some
like that over here.....don't know how they manage it though!
CSailor - Jen, does
that mean that the book is on a special shrine on your shelf?
Tipai - <G> its
me again...i have two questions this time 1. how long were you writing
before your first book was published? and 2. Ever been approached to have
your books turned into a movie for TV? and if so would you?
KayH - Tipai, I was
writing only a few months -- seriously -- before I sold my first one. I
was lucky. <G> As for the movies, we've been "approached" several times,
but no sales yet. I hear Miramar is interested in the Shadows books ....
Cissy - JL is next
(Mari, SandraW, cindy, Sherryl in line)
CSailor - If only
I can find a copy of IN SERENA'S WEB. *sigh*
JenWagner - CSailor,
I have lights above my shelves, so it truly does have a "shrine" look.
LOL Only other fans can appreciate this. I'd love to put her whole Men
of Mystery line there too, but no room. <g>
Jay - Oh cool!
psg - cool
Tipai - wow...fantastic...if
it goes though I hope they stick close to the books
SandraW - Oh wow,
now I have to cast the Shadows books in my own mind. LOL
JL - Kay, hi again.
You said no question is out of bounds. Um, about your earnings.. In the
US we don't like to talk what money we make, unless we're Martha Stewart
and hit the billion dollar mark, or a politician. Can you give some info
about how lucrative writing has been for you? Is any of this info on authors
published or available for perusing somewhere?
CSailor - Had to
borrow my friend's copy.
CSailor - Jen, which
one was the Men of Mystery? was that the museum one?
psg - ?
Tipai - ?
Jay - ?
SandraW - Haunt ebay
and mass-mail the book search places in the back of Romantic Times, CSailor.
KayH - JL, when I
sold my first novel, I was paid $2500 dollars -- and royalties brought
that up to several thousand. Now, I make ... more. It varies, but to give
you an idea, the Shadows books paid me about a quarter million each. After
20 years of hard work, mind you!
JenWagner - CSailor,
yes that one had the museum in it and all the hunky heros. She had a twist
in Quinn's story that I hadn't expected. She's good at that. <vbg>
Cissy - Mari is next
(SandraW, cindy, Sherryl,psg,Tipai,Jay in line)
Jay - *there's that
bouncing again* *sheepish grin - patience is not one of my virtues!*
SandraW - About time
your talent was rewarded, Kay. Good for you!
CSailor - wow! sounds
like you can live off of your author earnings, Kay. Cool.
Mari - Does the re-release
with Bantam include your books under other names? And do you have a website?
Celeste - Hi Shar
Celeste - Good for
you Kay and after all the years of work, it should pay off.
KayH - Yes, I make
a very good living -- and I'm very grateful for it!
CSailor - Quinn was
the thief, right? I won't ask what the twist is, since I think I know,
and it's a spoiler anyway.
KayH - Mari, my website
is www.kayhooper.com
KayH - And everything
released now is under the Hooper name.
Cissy - SandraW is
next (cindy, Sherryl, psg, Tipai, Jay, Katd1d are in line)
SandraW - Do you
enjoy working in "series"? And by that, I mean several books with inter-related
characters. Like your wonderful Hagen Series. And is it more difficult
to write inter-related stories?
Jay - Sandra - weren't
you going to give me your turn?
KayH - Ooops -- I
mean, any releases -- including the Kay Robbins books -- are now under
the Kay Hooper name.
psg - cool, another
website to add to my favorites.
CSailor - oh, that
reminds me--looks like the website likes only Internet Explorer, 'cause
I can't get the book cover pics on my home computer...
SandraW - Too late!
LOL
Mari - Thanks.
KayH - Sandra, I
love working with series. So much fun. Trilogies are so fun I'm working
on another one now to follow the Shadows series.
Tipai - Oh goodie
something to look forward to
Shar - Kay, I wanted
to say that I really enjoyed THE WIZARD OF SEATTLE. It's on my keeper shelf.
Dragons - ?
CSailor - ?
KayH - Sorry, Sailor
-- I've been told that before. We're in the process of building a new website
(same address) which should be more ... universal. <G>
Celeste - ?
cindy - I love your
books Kay, be they paperbacks or hardcovers. Will you write any more gothic/regency
types again or stay more mainstream/series?
Cissy - That can
be fixed in the coding of the site, CSailor
SandraW - Wonderful!
I love stories with beloved characters that you get to keep track of.
KayH - Thanks, Shar!
That's still my all-time favorite book.
Cissy - cindy, you're
next (Sherryl, psg, Tipai, Jay, Katd1d are in line)
Jay - *reaching for
the paper bag....*
JenWagner - Ooohhh..another
paranormal trilogy, I wonder?!?
cindy - Also, how
many books are in your repertory?
JL - ?
KayH - Cindy, I'm
likely to stay in the suspense/thriller vein, at least for a while. I'm
having too much fun to leave. <G>
SandraW - Just for
future reference, does Jay's hyperventilating usually work? <g>
Tipai - better late
than never...<G>
KayH - Cindy, I've
written more than 60, if that's what you mean. Romance, mystery, fantasy,
thrillers ...
Dragons - Any chance
of a hint about what the next trilogy will be?
Cissy - Kay, we have
9 people still in line with questions. How long can you stay?
Mari - ?
Cissy - make that
10
Jay - *sigh* No -
but it's fun anyway! LOL!
Cissy - Nope, Sandra
cindy - I know I've
got to get organized and find out just how many I still need to get!!
KayH - Dragons, my
next trilogy is one I'm calling my "Evil" trilogy. Suspense-thrillers,
with paranormal elements.
Sara - SandraW, no,
it doesn't!!
KayH - As long as
you want me to, Cissy!
SandraW - I have
to go, but thanks for so many years of enjoyment, Kay! And I look forward
to many more. Night, all!
Cissy - ?
Sara - cause if they
won't let me do it, then she can't either! <G>
spin - just wants
attention sandra LOL
Tipai - lol I feel
like a kid for christmas thats so exciting to find out!
Jay - *hole blown
in first bag, groping for second - sliding to floor from broken chair*
KayH - Bye, Sandra!
Thanks for coming!
Cissy - Sherryl,
you're next (psg, Tipai, Jay, Dragons, CSailor, Celeste, JL, Mari, Cissy
are in line)
Cissy - hey, if *I*
can't break in line, no one can!
Jay - Kay - they're
all pickin' on me!
Sherryl - My good
night comment is this...I love your work and I thank you for all the hours
of reading..Happy writing to you....thanks for coming...
KayH - Poor Jay.
<G>
spin - Jay your aussie
tendancies are showing ppppleasesss try to behave- have a little dignity
Cissy - lol, spin
Jay - Hah - I don't
come from a race that has a deep affection for sheep......LOL!
Cissy - psg, you're
next (Tipai, Jay, Dragons, CSailor, Celeste, JL, Mari, Cissy are in line)
CSailor - would a
stack of paper bags help, Jay? <g>
Tasha - Thanks for
coming Kay, good night . . .
Jay - *working on
number three, crumpled in a heap on the floor*
psg - i was wondering
if you have any little stories in your head that you might sell to Sil
Int Mom. or Temptation
spin - ouch - that
could go for those funny things that hop around aimlesly too u know LOL
CSailor - wow, more
room is opening up...
KayH - psg -- I sold
two IMs years ago -- I have the rights back now. Honestly, I'm writing
such different stuff these days that they wouldn't fit Silhouette.
KayH - And Bantam
wouldn't like it. <G>
Jay - Ever tried
to catch one of the rotters?
Cissy - Tipai, you're
next (Jay, Dragons, CSailor, Celeste, JL, Mari, Cissy are in line)
psg - *snrk* ok.
JenWagner - No, you've
definitely gotten too big for the category lines.
cindy - ?
CSailor - oh, I remember
those. archeologists, I think they were, or treasure hunters. something
like that
Tipai - let me say
that im loving this..ok my next question is for todays writers should they
get an agent? and do you miss writing for loveswept series or do you prefer
how you write now as apposed to the series writing. Im sorry if that doesnt
make any sense.
Jay - Go Tipai! Go
Tipai! *Jay waving pompoms*
Tipai - LOL jay keep
your pants on!!! hahahhahahaa
cindy - That was
one of my questions, Tipai! Good one!
psg - linda howard
just did one, but i think she was just finishing off a storyline....probably
won't do another either.
Tipai - thanks cindy
Katd1d - Before I
say good-night, Kay, I would like to say that I have never been disappointed
in your books and have always enjoyed them. My two favorites are If There
Be Dragons and The Wizard of Seattle. Keep Writing !
KayH - Tipai, I think
any writer today should probably get an agent; the market is just too tough.
As for whether I miss Loveswept days ... yes, I do. I've had one or two
"little" stories pop into my head that would have fit nicely into series.
But I really do love what I'm writing now.
KayH - Um ... I think
Linda is scheduled to write more for Silhouette ... but not soon, I think.
Cissy - Okay everyone,
brace yourselves... Jay, you're next (Dragons, CSailor, Celeste, JL, Mari,
Cissy, cindy are in line)
Tipai - ok thanks
Kay
KayH - Thank you,
Kat! And goodnight.
Jay - Woohoo!
Tipai - should we
cover our ears and anchor down? lol
Jay - Oh God - after
all that I've forgotten what I wanted to ask!
KayH - I'm braced
for Jay. <G>
Tipai - hahahahhahahahaha
shy - Such a short
comment for such a long wait Jay!
KayH - LOL!
spin - comon Jay
were waiting on u
CSailor - you were
just too excited. maybe after you calm down a bit...
Tipai - I wrote down
a note so I wouldnt forget
Jay - No! Kay, where
do you get your ideas from?
shy - OOps
Cissy - *shaking
my head sadly*
Jay - interests etc?
Jay - Oh God - I'm
tripping over my keyboard!
Jay - *breathing
in bag again*
KayH - Jay! Where
do I get my ideas? Out of my head. LOL!
JenWagner - Deep
breath, Jay. <vbg> Kay won't bite.
spin - too much hyper
- typical aussie all wind and no ? LOL
Jay - LOL! I meant
- what are your interests?
Dragons - Jay, take
a deep breath and try again, soon!
kamy - LOL
KayH - Honestly,
ideas are the easy part. Turning them into a story ... now THAT'S hard.
Jay - That still
didn't come out right - God, just shoot me!
Tipai - AMEN
kamy - ?
KayH - My interests?
Like most writers, I'm interested in almost everything. Have the Biography
Channel on right now ...
Cissy - Kay, don't
you subscribe to that secret magazine "Ideas for Writers" ?
Tipai - LOL i meant
that for Kays comment not yours jan
shy - Hi Cris
Tipai - jay i mean

self in forehead*

JenWagner - Night,

Sara - Night, Tipai!!

CSailor - jay, you

KayH - Dragons, it

in that direction. I love the paranormal ... love suspense ... love romance.
Made sense to me. <G>

KayH - I'm glad,
psg!
Jay - *Jay chewing
on paper bag* *sniff*
CSailor - okee dokee.
Kay, were you planning to continue any of your series stuff that you did
in Loveswept? I'm asking because I thought there would a sequel to THE
HAUNTING OF JOSIE (I think it was). The one with the cat?
Cissy -
Jay
