Chat with Teresa Medeiros 07/12/00

Frenchie - admit it. lol
Cissy - Susanna, you're up.
Susanna - Gee Cissy that was quick!
TeresaM - Jude Deveraux gave a wonderful speech on early historicals. She said that women were exploring all of their sexual fantasies--rape, multiple partners, etc., but now that's all passe and there's much more focus on the tenderness and emotions in the relationship.
Elsie - A bit of one, Frenchie? I think she made the mold.
SaraReyes - ?
TeresaM - Frenchie, I'm not good at being a bitch so every now and then I like to let my heroines do it <G>.
Cissy - we appear to hvae degenerated out of protocol early, Susanna
Cissy - Hope we haven't finished exploring ALL our fantasies...
Frenchie - Elsie you are so right! so much for trying to be gentle. heehee
Susanna - Teresa, you're in my tbr pile - so I'll ask a more general question. Have always written? What type of jobs have you held and what is the single most difficult part of writing for you?
joslync - That's the safer way, Teresa.
Sherryl - I'm not through....
Frenchie - Well she does do it with flair, Teresa. That's for sure.
joslync - Not me, Cissy - I've got loads of them...
tuty - yes, I like that better I relly don't enjoy reading about violence in a romance
gerri - - 7/12 at 9:29pm EST
Alice - ?
TeresaM - Do any of you guys remember the Johanna Lindsay book from a few years ago where the heroine tied the hero up and raped him? Yes, it was shocking and it made some readers crazy, but it was kind of an old-fashioned hoot to read.
shy - Hi gerri
joslync - Good point, tuty
Frenchie - can i go next?
Cissy - Hi gerri Tonight we're chatting with Teresa Medeiros and using a protocol. Type ? to line up for a question and I'll call on you in turn.
Camby - It's just one of those nights Cissy.
gerri - Hi everyone
shy - Yes Prisoner of my desires
Susanna - Hey Gerri !
Stacey - Hi Tuty and Gerri!
Sherryl - Hello gerri....a little wild in here tonight..
joslync - Yeah, Prisoner of my Desire - my friend's reading that one right now.
Elsie - Remember it? I LOVED it.
TeresaM - Now I try to write about dark, moody-broody heroes, but they all end up having this soft side that would run into a burning building and rescue a basket of kittens.
aggru - yes I have read it Teresa
Lynsay - ACCK!!! I've got to go, sorry I'll miss the end, but it was nice chatting with you Teresa
Frenchie - is it truly possible to rape a man? to succeed, some "part" of him had to want it......
MelanieJ - I have to go-- goodnight everyone. Great to see you all.
Frenchie -
tuty - I like it but not as mucha s other Lindsey's
Cissy - wow, you just described my dream man
TeresaM - Bye, Lynsay and Melanie!
shy - Night Lynsay
Camby - G'nite Lynsay and Melanie
TeresaM - Good point, Frenchie. I'm sure the heroine thought so, too.
Stacey - Night Lynsay and Melanie!
shy - Night Melanie
MelanieJ - See you all soon
MelanieJ - - 7/12 at 9:31pm EST
Sherryl - That's why we them Teresa
Lynsay - oh I have to answer that first, biologically it is possible to rape a man, when they are frightened, blood rushes to the vitals, just a bit of trivia
Ann - night Lynsay & Melanie
tuty - Hi Stacey
joslync - Virginia Kantra said something about how sexy a man who's vulnerable to children is. I'd change "children" to animals... wait, is there a difference?
Sherryl - night Lynsay
TeresaM - Thanks, Lynsay. We can always count on your for chastity belt and cucumber trivia, too!
Frenchie - ohhhhhhhh nice little bit of info Lynsay
Frenchie - i must keep that in mind.....for future reference of course
Stacey - LOL Joslyn
Frenchie - *evil laugh*
joslync - The next question is, can you frighten a man?
tuty - just my kind of men
Lynsay - night night LOL
TeresaM - A man who's vulnerable to children, animals, and the heroine is definitely dream guy material. Speaking of, has anyone seen PATRIOT yet? Mel was yummy in that one.
Lynsay - - 7/12 at 9:33pm EST
Robin - LMAO Teresa - And that's how you get the last word in!
Ann - Ummm, I don't really think tonight is a good example of the use of protocol.
Cissy - Sara, I thinkyou'
tuty - opps I mean
SaraReyes - Well, I haven't purchased your book yet, so tell me why I should? A bit of a blurb, please??
Cissy - you're up
aggru - - 7/12 at 9:33pm EST
TeresaM - Can I frighten a man? All I have to do to frighten my husband is make meat loaf <g>.
shy - Patriot was great.
Cissy - sorry, it's hard to type with a cat sprawled across your arm
joslync - lol, Teresa
Elsie - ROTFL All I have to go is get near the kitchen
Camby - LOL Of course you can joslync! Mine gets scared everytime I walk out the door saying "Be back later. I'm going to the bookstore!"
Kris - I wanted to see it Teresa - instead we saw 'The Perfect Storm'
Frenchie - I haven't seen it yet. I'm still recovering from Gladiator. Now there is a hunk of man!
Frenchie -
tuty - I can't wait to get it althought it might take a while for me since I live in the Caribbean and mostly can't find Hardback.
Stacey - LOL Teresa.
joslync - Good point, Camby - do you hide your bags in your car, too? Take the books in one or two at a time...
Sherryl - first thing in the morning I can scare even a strong man
TeresaM - Sara, I think you'd like the book if you like historical romance with a twist of fairy tale, a twist of humor, winning secondary characters and a really fat cat.
Stacey - Camby that's how I scare mine. LOL
Ann - I loved Patriot - better then Perfect Storm in my opinion. Richer story and far more complex characters. (and Mel in tight pants)
SaraReyes - hmmm -- that's it?
Frenchie - Teresa never disappoints
Camby - Yes to both joslync. And I'll add that there are books I bought last year and have hidden them so well, I can't find them now.
Frenchie -
TeresaM - It's been a good year for film, hasn't it--Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Mel Gibson?
joslync - I made the mistake of ordering Bride online - it isn't here yet....
Frenchie - poor Camby
Cissy - sounds good to me!
Ann - *pssst! Teresa, Sara needs a better blurb than that She can be a hard sell*
joslync - lol, Camby - I do the same thing with birthday presents..
Frenchie - yes it has.....ahhhhhhh
Kris - I'd take any of 'em!!
tuty - yes,Yummiiee
SaraReyes - tell me about the dragon, please!!
TeresaM - Sorry, Joslync! Unfortunately, Amazon can usually deliver before my local bookstore, but I still feel compelled to give the bookstore my business so I compromise between the two.
Cissy - I think she wants you to spill the beans about the dragon, Teresa.
Trisha - logged on. - 7/12 at 9:37pm EST
Erin - Teresa, since I have read everything you have written and loved them all...my question is ...what's next?
Trisha - Just popping in to say hello to everyone
gerri - Hi Tirsha
Stacey - Hi Trisha!
Frenchie - well if you like rough sex, whips, chains, gags.....
Frenchie - you'll love Bride
Camby - Sara, add to that "madness, a virgin sacrifice, headless goddesses...."
Frenchie - just kidding
Frenchie -
TeresaM - The Dragon is basically a Wizard of Oz character. A mysterious stranger hiding behind a monstrous persona. He's the Beast to Gwendolyn's Beauty.
Cissy - headless goddesses???
Sherryl - Hi Trisha
TeresaM - Watch it, Frenchie. You're going to spoil my reputation for tenderness and lyrical writing. <g>
Frenchie -
Camby - LOL Didn't mean to scare you there Cissy!
Cissy - And how did she get picked?
Elsie - You forgot the best part of all...a gorgeous hunk o man!
SaraReyes - Okay, better -- so I have history, humor, a touch of fantasy, beauty and tbe beast. RIght??
Ann - NOTHING personal *lol*
Cissy - //where'd the first half of my question go?
joslync - I should have just bought local, but I also made the mistake of joining a book club. lol.. I buy too many books from clubs and they just bring them right to the door..
Alice - Read The Bride and the Beast yesterday, loved it. What do you think about e-books?
Trisha - Is this book out yet about Dragons and Beauty?
Camby - Sara, how about a man in a kilt?
TeresaM - Erin, I'm working on a Sleeping Beauty story tentatively titled A KISS FOR BEAUTY. But the part of Beauty is currently being played by a gorgeous rakehell also known as "The Devil of Derrowford". It's an amnesia story. I'd tell you more, but I forgot <g>.
Frenchie - oh yeah! musn't forget him!
Cissy - Teresa - how'd your heroine feel about being sacrified to the dragon, Teresa? And how'd she get picked?
Trisha - Never mind-got the answer
Ann - Trisha, it's THE BRIDE & THE BEAST out in HB now by TeresaM herself.
TeresaM - My heroine was apprehensive about being sacrificed to a Dragon at first, but once she saw the luxurious digs and tasted the fine cuisine, she grew to enjoy her stay as his pampered prisoner. (And she got picked because she was the only virgin in town.)
Frenchie - ohhhhhh Teresa this new idea sounds good too! but i'm not surprised
Alice - Sorry that question was for later, the computer burped.
Frenchie - although Gwen tried to lie her way out of it....
Cissy - LOL, Teresa
joslync - oh, a reverse sleeping beauty - I'm excited already
Trisha - Thanks Ann! I wil get it tomorrow and read it on my trip to Georgia next week to see the grandbabies! Oh! A new one is on the way!
TeresaM - Alice, I'm excited about e-books as a new format for our work. I have to confess to being a book-book person myself though. I don't think I'll ever be willing to give up the feel (and the smell) of holding a new book in my hands.
joslync - Congrats, Trisha!!
shy - Congrats Trisha
Stacey - Congrats Trisha!!
Frenchie - Teresa, are you planning to do a whole fairy tale line
TeresaM - Congrats, Trisha!
Sherryl - I am with you on that Teresa,,,,I like to see, feel and smell mine also
Trisha - Thank you all!
Stacey - Teresa, I feel the same way.
joslync - imo, ebooks won't ever completely replace book-books - too many of us feel the same way
TeresaM - To be honest, the next one may be my last. I've already fractured Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and now Sleeping Beauty. What's next? The Frog Prince?
Trisha - Sounds like a winner to me!
TeresaM - I'm assuming the paperback of BRIDE will be out in April or May of 2001 with A KISS FOR BEAUTY to follow in hardcover in June, July, or August.
Elsie - Frog Prince could be interesting!
Camby - LOL Teresa. I'm not even going to say what just popped into my mind.
Frenchie - The princess and the pea.....
Sherryl - He's such a toad Teresa
Kris - Rupunzel!! (sp?) Oh think of the possibilities
joslync - Any more Magic books? Please?
Frenchie - tell us Camby
tuty - LOL
Alice - You just might be the person do do Hansel and Gretal, that witch has always gotten a bum rap.
Stacey - Snow White?
Sherryl - Well, there is Jack and his biggggg stalk
joslync - Yeah, Camby - you can't leave us hanging...
Trisha - Yes Do tell Camby!
TeresaM - I've got a question for you. Did you guys like the $15.95 price on the book? I'm already talking to Bantam about keeping the price down on the next one. (Whether I'll be successful is anyone's guess.)
joslync - LMAO, Sherryl!!
Elsie - Hansel can fall for the witch.
Trisha - Oh Sherryl-I love it! LOL
Misha - logged on - 7/12 at 9:45pm EST
Frenchie - well it's a tad out of my budget but for you i'd pay it
joslync - YES!! Less is more - less $$ more books...
Elsie - Price down is always a good thing.
Stacey - LOL Sherryl
Frenchie - if they can lower it that would be great though
Trisha - Yes Teresa........A very reasonable price!
Camby - Well, an adult version of Pinocchio flashed through my mind. It's been a rought day. *sigh*
TeresaM - Joslync, I never say never so more magic books could be a possibility in the future. (I just hope I don't have to wait for those Harry Potter fans to grow up and start reading romance <g>.)
tuty - Yes, Magic Books, please please Luv them
Cissy - that's great for a hardback, Teresa
Ann - Personally, as a person who shelled out $102 at the bookstore over the 4th, I LOVED the $15.95 price
joslync - ROTFLMAO, Camby - I'll have to remember that one...
TeresaM - Pinocchio? LOL. And WHAT grows when he tells a lie?
Stacey - LOL Camby
tuty - follow up to Prince Charming
Trisha - Oh Camby!! LMAO
joslync - I'm a Harry Potter fan and I'm reading romance...
Cissy - (lol, Cam ... "tell a lie, tell the truth, tell a lie..."
Sherryl - Camby....that would be Cyerno
shy - Why would you have to wait for the Harry Potter fans to grow up.. I love the Magic books. They are my favorite.
Robin - LOL Camby - though I'd get truly upset if his nose started growing after saying something like "Honestly darling, that was the best sex ever"
TeresaM - Actually, I'm a Harry Potter fan, too. I still read a lot of "children's fiction".
tuty - Charming the Prince, sorry .
Frenchie - Harry Potter fan too!
tuty - ???
Frenchie -
joslync - Cissy - LMAO
Trisha - Do tell Teresa! If you tell the story.......you have tot ell what grows! LMAO
Ann - Well Cam, i might actually encourage my man to lie in that case.
Camby - Well, you all asked!
Frenchie - Wait robin! I don't think his nose would grow......
Erin - As a Canadian, paying $22.95 was still a treat!
TeresaM - tuty, I've actually considered doing stories for some of Bannor's children in CHARMING THE PRINCE. I mean, the poor guy had twelve of them!
Frenchie - something else would though! in that case, he can lie all he wants!
Trisha - ROTFLMAO Ann!
Ann - Oh! You mean his NOSE would still be what grew? Bummer!
Frenchie - that's a great idea Teresa!
Robin - Frenchie, wouldn't matter WHICH part of his body grew after telling a lie like that
SaraReyes - LOL,
Camby - No, you had it right the first time Ann
SaraReyes - the images here!!
tuty - Yes, I thought about it after I read that should be wonderful
joslync - That's only fair, Teresa - 12 more books for us...
Trisha - Not his nose! His ummmmmmmmmm! Guess!
Cissy - oh my... can you imagine if something SHRANK every time he lied?? Talk about a way to keep a man truthful...
Ann - *whew!*
Robin - In fact, if 'something else' started growing after a lie like that, I'd be tempted to do a Lorena Bobbit impersonation *growl*
TeresaM - Erin, we do love our Canadian fans!
joslync - What do you read in your spare time, Teresa?
shy - LOL Cissy
Misha - I hope to get some of your books again here on Mexico Teresa
Cissy - I'm sorry, Teresa - we're getting a bit off base here!
Tori Carrington - logged on - 7/12 at 9:50pm EST
tuty - I really LOL after he fainted
TeresaM - My only fear in doing one of the stories of Bannor's children was having to type "Mary Margaret" 12,000 times.
Stacey - LOL Cissy
Frenchie - I want to know what happened between Bannor's son and Willow's sister
Trisha - LMAO Cissy!
Elsie - Cissy, now *that's* a switch!
Camby - LOL Cissy.... reminds me of that joke..
TeresaM - Hi Lori and Tony! Love you!
Stacey - Hi tory!
tuty - Well just plain MM
Trisha - Hi Tory!
TeresaM - Frenchie, haven't you already figured that out. They lived happily ever after, of course.
tuty - LOL
tuty - LOL
joslync - Cut and paste, Teresa!
Frenchie - yeah i know but i was hoping for a book on them
Camby - I wanna know what happened to Copperfield (is that right?) From the witch stories.
Tori Carrington - Hi, Terri! Can you believe we actually just stumbled onto this. Had to stop in and say 'hey'!
joslync - What joke, Camby?!?!? C'mon - spill it!
Ann - Hi Tony!
Elsie - But tell us the story, Teresa.
Erin - Teresa, talked a teacher visiting from Germany into buying "Charming a Prince" - thought she might like it <g>
Sherryl - You heard that Lorna's sister tried to do the same thing to her husband
shy - Hi Tori!
Robin - Teresa, it's been wonderful chatting with you (and everyone else here), but I have to get back to my homework for tomorrow
Cissy - Hi Tori - Welcome!
Tori Carrington - These icons are a hoot!
joslync - Good luck, Robin!
TeresaM - What do I read in my spare time? Everything! I'm currently reading IMPOSSIBLE DREAMS by Pat Rice and re-reading THE WINDFLOWER by Tom and Sharon Curtis, my favorite novel of all-time. Outside the genre, I love John Irving, Alice Hoffman, Stephen King, Larry McMutry's westerns.

joslync - What are your favorite McKinley's, Alice? I want to try one.
Misha - I love his books, they are big you can leave them down, they are on Asia
Kris has timed out.
Tori Carrington - We're probably preaching to the choir here, but if you haven't read The Bride and The Beast, GET THE TO A BOOKSTORE PRONTO!
Tori Carrington - Um, that was supposed to be "thee." Gad.
TeresaM - Thanks, "Tori", I can see giving you that free copy has paid off in spades.
Tori Carrington - Hi, Becky!
Elsie - Well, Teresa, even though I haven't asked any questions, I'm thrilled you're here with us!
Cissy - Definitely preaching to the choir, Tori, but it'll be good for the transcripts
Misha - I have them all (in spanish) with King Rat and Shougun in englsih
TeresaM - Thanks, Elsie. It's been a pleasure. Now I know why hanging out in chat rooms is so much fun!
Alice - I am repeatedly drawn to the lyrical words of The Blue Sword. Beauty is a close second.
Tori Carrington - Glad to be of assistance, Cissy.<bg's>
Misha - oops it was you can't leave them down

Cissy - 'fraid so, Teresa. Unless you really don't want it to
TeresaM - Thanks, Sara. I hope you enjoy it. And I sure appreciate you kicking off the chat for me.
Alice - Her books are another example of "children's" books that adults can enjoy.
Susanna - Cissy, when will the transcript be out? I missed the answer to my question
TeresaM - Naw, I'm just teasing Cissy. I tried not to say anything too incriminating.
Tori Carrington - Stacey, wasn't it fantastic? Then again, everything Terri writes is wonderful. Beauty *and* talent. It ain't fair.<vbg's>
Camby - Geez Sara! We went into all that descriptive detail for you and you're gonna get it anyway!!?? LOL

Helena - missed it Cissy
Stacey - Tori, I was only going to read a little bit before bed. I ended up staying up and finishing it
Susanna - Thanks, Teresa!
Ann - You know Tori, if you or Becky had an author chat, we could show you all the really cool icons
Tori Carrington - So, Terri, when's your next book due out?
TeresaM - I guess I should sign off before they have to drag me off with a cane . This is like a great party you hate to leave.
Tori Carrington - Stacey, yep, that's the problem with a Teresa M book. When you pick one up, you'd better be prepared to finish it.
tuty - Well, I better be going now.Mrs.Teresa I was a pleasure to caht with you , I jsut recently started to read your books and so far love the 3 ones I have and the all you guys take care,Good Night.
Camby - good point there Ann. Considering that I have Tori's new one on my to buy list, a chat in future would be great.
TeresaM - Gee, Tori, since you asked--the paperback of BRIDE will probably be out in April or May 2001 with the new hardcover to follow in June or July. (Of course, that all depends on whether or not I ever finish it. Or get past Chapter Four <g>.)
shy - We never do that to any authors Teresa In fact some of us will be here for probably another hour or two..
BeckyBarker - Ann - I love that little angel!
Tori Carrington - Oh, poo! We just get here and you're leaving? You better be careful or we might take it personally. Sniff.<bg's>

Cissy - just don't trust it with Ann, Becky!
TeresaM - Okay, I'll hang out for a few more minutes. You didn't think you'd get rid of me that easily, did you?
Frenchie - Bye Teresa! I'm so happy that I got a chance to talk to you. Please keep us updated about your books.
Tori Carrington - Hey, we're impressed you're on Chapter Four already! Good for you!

Stacey - Night Tuty

Frenchie -
Elsie - I can handle that! What's your fave food?
TeresaM - Of course I could leave and then you could talk about me behind my back.

TeresaM - I try really hard to write on a regular schedule. I usually work from 9:30-3:00 Monday through Friday. My ideal requirement is three pages a day. (Shut up, Tori. I know you write twenty-five pages a day.)
joslync - lol, shy
Stacey - Hi Margaret
Ann - Hi MEP!
Cissy - Wow, it's author night in here. Hi, MEP!
TeresaM - Okay, shy, for chocolates and adoration, I'll stay!
MargaretEPorter - Popped in to greet one of my fave authors and fellow GL addict!
Misha - - 7/12 at 10:03pm EST
Sherryl - She went up in a poof of smoke before I could say good bye
TeresaM - Is that Margaret Evans Porter, by any chance?
Camby - Oh yeah, that reminds me shy. Anyone want some chocolate? Val from England sent me this big old honking 1 kilogram Galaxy bar today.
Ann - Cool, most of my favorite authors in the room at once. I don't know where to next.
Tori Carrington - LOL!
BeckyBarker - Thanks, Ann. Sorry I'm so slow with this stuff.
MargaretEPorter - maybe
TeresaM - Hi, Margaret! Okay, so now I owe two authors in this chat room e-mails--Tori and Margaret.
shy - Hi Margaret!
Tori Carrington - Can you give us a hint of what your next book's about? Pleeeeaze?
Ann - Becky, I know it's Teresa's chat, but can I ask you a question?
TeresaM - For those of you who don't know, Margaret is my GUIDING LIGHT buddy. We chat GL whenever we need to escape the rigors of writing.
MargaretEPorter - you can wait till after you finish chatting
Tori Carrington - Ohhhh, Camby, you're cruel!
TeresaM - Someday Margaret and I are going to run away to New York and become head writers for GL.
Tori Carrington - Hi, Margaret!
Camby - I'm cruel!? You should see this thing!
Stacey - Camby, I got a package from Val today, too
MargaretEPorter - let me know when you're ready! My bags are half packed
TeresaM - Did you guys know that Tori had Ricky Martin on their cover?
Elsie - I wish you watched GH if you want to run off and be head writers.
joslync - No way!! Which one, Teresa?
Camby - Stacey, did you get the 1 kilogram chocolate bar too?
BeckyBarker - Ask me anything. I have no secrets
MargaretEPorter - So tell me, group, is this Teresa Medeiros book as good as they say?
Frenchie - Teresa do you mind telling me your age?
Frenchie - just curious
TeresaM - The PI Who Loved Her has the Ricky Martin clone.
Sherryl - Well,,,,I didn't get squat from anyone today....
Ann - I *had* noticed a resemblence Teresa
Camby - That was Ricky Martin?
Frenchie - Teresa's book is wonderful!
Tori Carrington - Ricky Martin? LOL! Seriously, thou, the cover model could have been his double, couldn't he? Check it out at www.toricarrington.com
TeresaM - I'm 37, Frenchie, but according to the Oprah RealAge test, I'm actually 29, which makes me feel much better <g>.
Tori Carrington - Ooops! Are we allowed to do that?
Camby - That's a very dangerous thing to say to us Becky!
gerri - Sherryl I bet you got a bill today.....
Frenchie - lol
joslync - I'll have to go look at it more closely...
Tori Carrington - Hey, Terri, where's the Mike-ster tonite?
Frenchie -
Stacey - Yep, Camby. It's wonderful
shy - Of course Tori..
TeresaM - Are you allowed to do what? Ask my age or mention your website?
MargaretEPorter - in person, she seems like she's Sixteen Goin' on Seventeen. Ready to take on the world!
Erin - Good night all! Have to get back to the book I'm reading... Keep on writing and I'll keep on buying <g> Thanks!
Tori Carrington - Oprah real age test, huh? LOL!
Ann - *LOL* Becky! I "discovered* you when you wrote for Candlelight, but my favorite bok is THE LAST REAL COWBOY (for Shilouette) Have you ever been interested in writting the story of the brother in TLRC?
TeresaM - The Mike-ster is at some sort of official dinner with former footballs coaches for the University of Kentucky. I bet I'm having more fun than he is!
Sherryl - thanks gerri....they get chocolates and I get bills....what is wrong with this picture
Tori Carrington - 'Nite, Erin! Happy reading!
shy - Night Erin!
BeckyBarker - I get a lot of requests for Cade's story. It's in the works.

Helena - - 7/12 at 10:08pm EST
Stacey - Night Erin
